Steel Dragon 2000 is really a great roller coaster. Very successful out and back design with a lot of airtime. And the new trains from B&M run really smoothly over the track. If you're into a lot of airtime, you can't get past Steel Dragon 2000...

I heard some officials behind this theme park rode the Mamba rollercoaster at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, MO in the US and liked it so much they wanted something like it in Japan, but longer and with a taller drop. I came here to watch and couldn't believe how much of a clone it is. Not surprising since it's made by the same coaster manufacterer behind Mamba. Pretty cool story.

Love how noone is talking about how this has 2 chain-lifts. Halfway up the first chainlift ends and switches over to a new one on the left. Really shows how much effort they put into getting you up there as quick as they could and it still takes over a minute. Even modern B&M Gigas still take ~45 seconds. Intamins with their cable-lifts are really the outliers at 20-25 seconds

I went on this ride just the other day and loved it - by far the best ride in the park. Acrobat was also good, but this was my fave. White Cyclone is good if you like to be shaken to pieces and get a headache. I'm Just curious, but how did you get this video? I notice the car park is empty and there is nobody in the park - do you get to ride coasters when the park is closed or during testing times pre/post opening? After I visited the park I started looking at coaster videos on youtube and there are tons of videos where some people just take (sneak?) on their camera and hold it during the ride, but at Nagashima Spa Land they go as far as checking people with metal detectors before the ride starts to make sure people aren't carrying stuff that could cause a serious injury if dropped. I don't know if you are just using official park footage, but if not, then it's good to see not everyone is dumb enough to ride a coaster holding a camera... not that I don't appreciate the videos :D
@eriklakeland3857

White Cyclone is getting the RMC i box treatment, according to RCDB. It closes in early 2018. I think RMC White Cyclone will be a 2 year build like Mean Streak. That thing will be a slam dunk in Japan in 2020. It has such a promising structure for Schilke to work with, hopefully they increase the angle of ascent to 45 degrees to really let Schilke off the leash. For the first drop on RMC White Cyclone, I'd like to see a massive barrel roll drop after the small left turn. It'd be like Storm Chaser's on steroids, making it unique in Nagashima Spa Land and Japan.

jesper simons I figure once an application that comes out that makes really good use of it, and is more mainstream, we'll go for it. But for the same reason why we never did 3D videos either, the audience just doesn't seem to be there. It's expensive and more equipment to bring, and you have to do more cycles of the train. I'd rather focus on getting more footage that people will see. 4K is a very good example. So many new TVs are streaming 4K videos directly from KZbin and it looks awesome! The number of views we get tell us this is something we should be supporting! =)

Except for how the track itself looks, this looks and feels like an Arrow: the slow lift hill, the bizarre transitions, the large amount of skinny supports rather than a few big ones

One of the founders of arrow had a son who left arrow to make his own company called Morgan so that is why they look so similar

Back in 2012 i was in Japan, i was staying in Chiba prefecture. So one day i paid a shinkansen ticket for me and my wife to go to Nagashima spa land, specifically to ride the steel dragon. Arrived at dinner time, have a nice restaurant dinning. Went to the hotel, woke up next day, take a bus ride to Spaland. Proceed to pay the full day for two adult, ran like a crazy freak towards the steel dragon entrance!! ( Finally after all this money involved i was going to ride that dragon!) . But nope, apparently it was too windy that day....The ride was closed, all day....So i saw the Dragon, but i never straddle it...

At the end of the day, this is basically the same thing as Steel Force and Mamba, the main difference being an additional helix at the back end of the ride.

Let’s be real here, the actual reason why this is/was the longest coaster in the world is because the lifthill takes up half of the ride experience.

the only reason this ride has the longest track length is because of those massive helixeses
