I'm in HK & I really miss the Mine Train, it was brilliant! What a view to look forward to every ride. Can't believe they shut it down. They have only 2 coasters now, Hair Raiser & Arctic Blast.

This makes me wonder if the park is doing well, or that it just shifted focus. I mean, the coasters that were removed looked pretty old, but nothing seems to return. And the view, its combination with coaster's height should be moneymaking.

Rode that a few times years ago pre-covid. I went there last year and sadly, The dragon and this Mine Train is gone. The Minetrain is surely one of the coaster rides with the best view!

Great views and scenery but I'm convinced it wasn't designed for anyone over 5ft tall! So uncomfortable, my knees wouldn't fit under the lap bar!
@DrowningInTea4 ай бұрын
The Mine Train was very pretty and very popular when it opened in 1999! On a hot sunny day, you would have a beautiful view of the sea during the spiral section. I had fond memories of it. The Gs it pulled was by far the best out of the three roller coasters too. It scared a lot of kids including me! (Edited because I thought the ride opened in the early-2000s. It was in fact 1999.)
On minetrain the drop after the bird cage gave a great airtime pop. Fun coaster with great views. Hopefully they are planning to modernizing that side of the park like they did the midway area where Hair Raiser and Arctic Blast are.

I remember going on The Dragon multiple times, on my own about 10 times in a row. It's the roughest-ass thing I've ever ridden. The loop is waaaay to close together (you will most likely lose your arms). It's...insane.

The coasters at Ocean Park have always been pretty lame, but those views cannot be beaten. Stunning scenery from every angle!

Artic blast is my favourite, intense but not too intense, and it fits for even 100cm tall children! Plus it was the only coaster I could go on since I wasn’t old enough for hair raiser

I am from Hong Kong🇭🇰! It’s good to see these rides and experiencing it. I’ve been to Ocean Park several times but I haven’t played any of the roller coasters. (Cuz I don’t have the courage 😅😂)

Unfortunately the wild west mine train was no longer in service, which is sad not only because it is one of the classics, it was also my first entry to thrill rides since it was much slower & had no loops.

What’s the city like? I’ve always wanted to go, but being so close to China seems dangerous
@hypemankhail11 ай бұрын
The city itself is pretty fast paced and busy. Definitely rich in culture, and packed with foods, shops and street vendors. I was lucky to meet some English speaking locals, who helped me navigate my way around. A lot of beautiful places to see, and that view of Victoria Harbour is a treat. It was super humid when I went too. I wouldn’t say the people were the friendliest, but at the same time, I think people are just living their lives so they don’t pay too much attention to others.

It's literally one of the safest cities in the world and very welcoming to Westerners (albeit admittedly more so if you're white). Very easy to get around too, even without speaking a word of Chinese. Just don't transit in Mainland China - I made the mistake of transiting in Shanghai last year and it was literally the most convoluted and confusing transit process ever!
