The first time I watched this video was about 4-5 years ago and I saved it. Whenever I feel down or broken I come back to this video. Whenever I feel like my iman is decreasing or I feel weak I rewatch this video. I have never in my entire life watched a video as powerful as this one. It is by far my favorite lecture. It pierced the depths of my heart down to its core. I have been struggling with some sin for some time now. This video empowered me on a high level. Allah gave us humans free will. From Brother Abdul Salaam I can relate to this topic, before ALLAH made me Muslim, I use to party, use drugs and use and abuse alcohol for 20 years, I hit a spiritual bottom and cried out to GOD, who I know now as ALLAH, HE heard my cry and placed my feet upon the path of Islam (Quran and Sunnah). And I've been clean now for 28 years, it is true,ALLAH do take the worst and make them the best, my mother experienced 20 years of me being clean before she passed 8 years ago, with ALLAH'S help I was able to make amends to her, there's so much more that's been happening in my life that ALLAH is doing for me, and now I'm clear on what my purpose on this earth for, and that's to worship and serve ALLAH, and to practice the Sunnah and to help others.

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “When a person spends his entire day with no other concern but Allaah alone, Allaah, may He be glorified, will take care of all his needs and take care of all that is worrying him; He will empty his heart so that it will be filled only with love for Him, free his tongue so that it will speak only in remembrance of Him (dhikr) and cause all his faculties to work only in obedience to Him. But if a person spends his entire day with no other concern but this world, Allaah will make him bear its distress, anxiety and pain; He will leave him to sort himself out, and cause his heart to be distracted from the love of Allaah towards the love of some created being, cause his tongue to speak only in remembering people instead of remembering Allaah, and cause him to use his talents and energy in obeying and serving them. So he will strive hard, labouring like some work-animal, to serve something other than Allaah… Everyone who turns away from being a true slave of Allaah and obeying Him and loving Him will be burdened with servitude, love and obedience to some created being. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): ‘And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allaah), We appoint for him a shaytaan (devil) to be a qareen (intimate companion) to him.’ [al-Zukhruf 43:36].”

I came in to an Islamic private school when i was in fourth grade. I knew nothing about the Deen. I couldn't read Qur'an. I couldn't read arabic. So throughout my fourth grade years, I started to grow (i.e. in knowledge) very slowly. Slower than you can imagine. Just so that you know, I was taught under a Sheikh from Al-Azhar in Egypt. So,the following year in fifth grade,I expected a lot from the previous year. But it was different. Now we were doing a Surah form the Qur'an all at once(because before,my class was all doing individual Surahs)! But this is what changed me. That year in fifth grade,I was just eager to learn about Islam then I ever was before. I felt like a new person. I went from making many sins, to striving as hard as I could both for Allah and this class. And the Qur'an to memorize was hard! It wasn't easy! A low level kid is trying to do a rather long Surah with the entire class? So,the Sheikh finally told me sometime before the school year ended,he'd tell me you're the best student I have. I thought this couldn't be. His son(who has memorized half of the Qur'an,and was in the same class) wasn't better than me? The Sheikh then gave me an award for the most progressed student. Over the summer(after fifth grade) I weht to a Summer school at the citie's best Masjid to learn from another Sheikh who went to Al-Azhar in Egypt. At this point,my Iman was sky high. And after,I felt like the strongest muslim I'd ever been. So this year I decided to do what I thought(before) was impossible. Becoming a Sheikh. The (before) lowest level in the entire class wants to be a Sheikh? Yes. Before this I wanted to be a Basketball player in the NBA. When I made the decision,my life changed forever. I thought being a Basketball player was meaningless. So, I go to my Sheikh(who,at the time,was basically my role model after Muhammad PBUH), I tell him that I want to be a Sheikh. He was surprised. I told him there wasn't enough kids my age that wanted to be a Sheikh. Now,of course, there are requirements to be a Sheikh,which are: 1.Memorizing the Qur'an from front to back 2.Knowing how to speak Arabic 3. Studying at an Islamic school(i.e. Al-Azhar) I knew these three thihgs would be hard. But I was ready to beat the impossible odds. I want to go to high school in America and during that time, learn Arabic,and then go to Al-Azhar,come back to the Americas,and be the Sheikh of the citie's best Masjid. I know there will be many people at this Masjid,working hard to be the Sheikh,but I will work the hardest to become the Sheikh there. But still,at 12 years old,I'm still learning new things. I'm trying to gain the most knowledge as I can. Both Islamic knowledge, as well as other knowledge that can help me on my journey. So please brothers and sisters,make a Du'a for me that I,Insa'Allah will achieve this goal. And may Allah make it easy for all people striving for this great goal, to reach it someday. Ameen.
