I think this is the earliest surviving footage of Aerosmith on film. They were on American Bandstand in 1973 but unfortunately, I think that episode is lost. The Midnight Special have been putting out a lot of goodies lately.

Bingo! That's why people are "amazed, dumbfounded etc." about the Stones (Like ROSmth one of the bands about who you refer)and their "magical" new singles. Strip away all or some of the gizmotic "essentiality" that has made recorded music something akin to tonal "Crisco Oil":since 1983 and Wowsa! This is incredible! It's downright revolutionary! Voices and instruments, from humans only and the sound causes goosebumps and chills down the spine? It"s verifiable evidently. It's brilliant. True genius!😂😂. 1970's ROSmth's sound was the most unaltered of all the Rock acts, and they reached top of the heap and stayed there. You can hear the picks hitting the strings and the point of impact when sticks hit drums ànd cymbals.😅 Music like everything else is cyclical . Maybe recording live will become a trend again. I'd love, to have that need to bolt to a record shop and purchase the song that just blew me away on the radio. Just one more time before I croak!😂 👍🎶

They were not at their peak during these sessions. Young and full of energy yes. But not at their musical peak. 76’ they were pretty much there but the heroin and cocaine about did them in. In the 80s the album “Pump” they were at their peak as well. After that “Get a Grip” was pretty awesome. The guitar work from Joe and Brad on “eat the rich”, “living on the Edge”, “crazy”, “amazing” etc..was second to none. They had moments of greatness on “nine lives” as well. After that it was few and far between.

This was at the end of Aerosmiths first era. They were compleley strung out on drugs and partying during this time, and it shows in this performance. It was a blessing that they found their way to sobriety in the 80s (relativiely speaking), so their greatness could be truely appreciated by all.

I saw Aerosmith in the 70s in Atlanta Georgia at the Omni it was my first concert I got all the way up to the front I was pressed up against the fence and I cannot tell you the feeling I got when Steven Tyler looked down into my eyes I was hooked from that night on anytime I went to a concert I had to have front row so the performer could look me in the eye there’s nothing like it

Just like when a pretty woman looks and a guy and smiles. Most numbskulls think the gal must really like 'em... just because "she's smilin' at me!" There's nothing like it... and you just named the female equivalent! no shade either way... just the way it is.

The Midnight Special, really hit on all cylinders tonight when they had Aerosmith on. Steven Tyler his vocals are beyond words. Their music is simply bad ass. Steven Tyler is definitely sexy in this video. This takes me back to my teenage years, when life was good with amazing music 🎶 🎵 and good friends and good times and memories.

Sorry bro' Im sure she's somewhere out there, but my guess is she ended up in the groupie train. After that probably bounced around witht the band(s) until she was used up or they got fresh recruits. The debauchery of those days was both greek and tragic for "beautiful" women as their self worth was mostly tied up in their looks and most of em just wanted to say they got with whomever back then. And Smith was at the top of that shit pile.

@@326vince my wife worked in a New Hampshire hospital for ten years, and Steven’s father was in the hospital for some treatment. His (and Steven’s) last name is Tallarico. The family owns car dealerships in New Hampshire. Anyway, Steven was visiting his father, and he didn’t have his makeup on or any of his usual “rock attire”, and he was eating in the commissary. My wife said he looked like a little old lady, and it was hard to tell he was THE Steven Tyler. This was sometime between 2004-2009. Oh, one of the ladies she worked with was the wife of Rod Price of Foghat. Another New Hampshire classic rock legend was Brad Delp, singer of Boston. He used to play the corner bars doing Beatles covers in the 90’s. Anyway….

I was 16. Three shows back then, The Midnight Special, ABC' s In Concert and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. Because I was and still am into rock I place TMS 3rd because of some of the light Pop and RnB acts but TMS gets mad love for broadcasting David Bowie's 1980 Floor Show. On the flip side I seem to recall In Concert broadcasting the Spiders from Mars last concert. And I will never forget California Jam!

After the British Invasion the American record companies were hungry for bands they could package and promote to give to the consumers. Aerosmith is a talented group and deserved to get a record contract anyway but their image was like a cross between The Rolling Stones and Queen. England had Elton John the US had Billy Joel. England had a huge lead on metal until Van Halen. I’m not going to include hair metal, glam metal and speed metal. Kiss was definitely doing something unique. It’s so cool to see these performances after all this time! I need to look up Don Kirshner’s Rock Concerts and King Biscuit Flower Hour. Biscuit was radio but hopefully someone made a video of something they recorded.

I’ve heard and seen as much of he and the bands work as anyone I think but his guitar contribution in 25 or 6 to 4 on that particular night was a master class. the late great Terry Kath was truly a man possessed on that night and I’m so very happy it was memorialized for us to marvel at all these years later.
