at approx 2:45, the SQ5 in both petrol and TDI were 8 speed tiptronic/Auto, not S-Tronic

I owned a 2013 SQ5 from brand new until December 2023 in Australia. For the first 8 years of ownership it was a great car. I had it maintained from Audi and then aftermarket. In 2022 it fell off a massive maintenance cliff. The entire front end suspension was replaced due to knocking, engine mounts redone and then had the front rotors and brakes done. I accepted the brakes but shocked about the suspension and engine mounts given that the car only had travelled 105,000 kms. What worse was the come was that at the 8 year service Audi said there is a 'massive problem'. It turned out to be misting from the upper sump. My independent advisor said that it was there from the beginning but Audi failed to tell me. It was not apparent there was an oil leak and I never received a low oil warning. From 8 years to the end, during winter it sporadically threw a P2006 error (Inlet runner jammed). A mechanic advised me this occured in winter only and it was fine in summer. It would have been resolved with a carbon port clean (walnuts). The final death knell for me was when I was recommended to get a carbon clean and have the valley seals redone. That was going to cost me $2500, with Rego and Insurance coming up it was another $2500. Enough was enough and it was moved on. Like a lot of KZbin videos have regarding used luxury cars- When they get older and get sold onto people they cannot afford to maintain them when something goes 'Boom'. After this terrible experience, I bought a Telsa 3 Performance. Time will tell if this is unkind to me or not.

I guess owning Premium car in Australia you do really have to pay premium. Me too I've own SQ5 and what you said regarding the problems in 8 years for and audi is really nothing. Giving that you only drove 13k a year which is nothing. :) I've bought mined used at 160k mileage already knowing about the pain points. To change timing chain, injector seals, water pump, oil cooler gasket, disable the egr and few other bits and peaces. Once done I can be sure that it will go and go because older 3.0 TDI (180kw, 230kw) engines are basically bulletproof. Here in europe we don't have such stupid costs for repairing premium cars so thats also a point to have in mind. :)

@@barcode6297 This is what I expected as well the diesels usually outlive the owner , im looking into buying a 8R SQ5 and being in South Africa we get the Euro versions , dont think we got the 3.0 supercharged SQ5.

@@UncleSousies Good. Look out for noisy moon roofs. It's a very common problem without a fix. Otherwise its a great combo. Fast, economical and decent cargo.

I had 2 of them I spent more money on service than you can fadim. And they both ended up going to the crusher. Now I drive a Toyota. Nothing but oil changes for the last 150000 miles

Are you using different gas mileage metrics? You said the 3.2 Liter gets 30 mpg??

Hi are you in the USA? I’m using the imperial gallon, the U.S gallon is smaller (about 3/4 the size) so the EPA rating will be slightly lower (about 23mpg) 👍

No worries, from my knowledge there are 5 metrics for fuel economy depending on country. Imperial (U.S) mpg Imperial (U.K) mpg Metric L/100km (probably the most common in the world) Metric KM/L And rarest, miles/L (the hybrid of metric and imperial used by some in the U.K). As in the U.K fuel is purchased in litres but roads are measured in miles 👍

Yea i think il steer clear of the Q5 after watching lots of videos worst engine is the 20 litre turbo petrol

how can i trust anything you say? you say its 3.2 VR6 but its not VR6. its V6. even the picture shows 45 degree V6. vr6 is you've seen one ever is 10.6 or 15 degree. what is wrong with you

Yep I made a mistake naming the engine while making several other VW group guides that did have the VR6, info is still valid 👍
