I love that this wasn't on a PPV. It was unexpected and I feel like maybe someone wanted to make sure everyone saw Jey take the IC. Now, let it rest on his shoulder for a good while and don't have him drop it at the next PPV as has been done with TV title changes in the past.

When you use one of the most formerly over moves (super kick) over and over in a match, including as a normal move and signature it just doesn’t look good. That’s what people crap on the young bucks for, he’s definitely better than either of them though.

@@scarcity1525 I don't mean this in a disrespectful way: Jey probably has a deeper moveset than a Cena, a Goldberg (for sure, and I mean disrespect here) and maybe a Brock Lesnar, who if my memory serves me well was Suplex, Suplex, F5, pin. Having a small moveset doesn't define how good a wrestler is, is how they use it. Another example is Gunther, he doesn't _seem_ to do much, but he absolutely kills it.

@@Algo1 But the dudes who are able to have those limited movesets are giant dudes who make small moves seem impactful (partially do to their opponents selling too). It’s not just that Jey is smaller than these guys but he also spams a move that we’re supposed to consider part of his signature or finisher depending on how the mood strikes him. That just doesn’t work, if roman reigns did a spear and the dude just stayed standing and they call it an impaler it severely lessens the move.

I think HHH is building Jey for a bigger story. Especially towards Survivor Series. Having the IC belt as he crosses with family members gives Jey more emphasis and stature. the next conversation between Roman and Jey but Jey’s the one who has gold 👀 says a lot about where WWE is currently.

This was my stance on it. It was never a question of if, but always when. I thought do it now to add to that story of Jey making a name for himself away from Roman's shadow. So when Roman comes asking for help, Jey has leverage to say no a few times. Let Jey be the last piece of the puzzle.

It makes things more unpredictable and let's more people get an opportunity. Bianca and Rhea both had year long title reigns in close proximity and it strangled the growth of the women's division. RAW is still suffering from this and I really hope HHH makes some more bold decisions and starts to elevate some new faces. I wouldn't be surprised if Kairi and Iyo pull a shocker and take the tag titles on the RAW before bad blood or the Saudi show (For the love of god don't waste their match on that saudi show).

Jey absolutely deserves this. He’s been separated from the Bloodline for a year with the promise of becoming a bonafide “main event” player, and his nickname finally paid off. My suspicion is he’ll drop the belt right back to Bron, setting up a months-long feud between them, which could be cool, but I hope I’m wrong and Jey gets to hang on to it at least the rest of this year.

People saying it should have been on a ppv seem to forget that Mankind and HHH both won their first world titles on Raw plus in the attitude era titles changed hands quite often on Raw and smackdown.

I have a suspicion that before long, this will tie in to the New Day stuff. But even if I'm wrong, this was one of the best moments in a long time - and that's saying something, WWE has been booking strong for a while. The best thing is: Jey can now go on a long (or medium) run with the title and it will elevate him even higher than he already is. It will also make his reunion with the Bloodline much more interesting, because he'll come back carrying gold, while Roman and Jimmy (and Samy, most likely) will not have titles at first. But he can also have a very short reign of just a few weeks, maybe a handful of title defenses before he loses it, and he'll still be elevated.

Kinda agree. With the trying to have Woods turn, it's been hard to set that up because we're all relating to Xavier more than Kofi. If they really want him heel, (I still say it would be a fun swerve to have New Day plot to do so to get at Kross, have it be about the power of positivity again, and actually make that an interesting storyline, cause without it... yeah, still don'tget the Kross thing) he's going to have to do something heinous and his match with Rey won't be it. Having him get a shot at the title, screwing over Jey... instant mega-heat.

Yeah I totally expected to watch Ups and Downs (I don't get to watch Raw or Smackdown) and find out that Jey lost. It was such a shock that I had to look up the match and watch it immediately before watching Ups and Downs. I have been saying for years that the Usos deserved singles runs. They are both really good on the mic and fun to watch in the ring. The promo that solidified it for me was "You're out...And I'm out too." There was so much passion in that promo that made it so much more believable.

yeet. I'm glad that this happened on RAW. Title matches on Raw have become totally boring (except for tag titles, those change hands everywhere). But for singles titles: we get a lot of singles title matches on raw or smack down and the titles never change hands. Except for now. Now we will take the next single titles matches on raw and smack down more seriously.

Okay. Recently it was talked a lot about the IC title being the path to the world title. I loved the Bronn randomly spearing people out of their shoes backstage gimmick. Next show Bronn flattens Gunther with a spear backstage while Zayn is demanding once again a try for the world title in the ring. I'd love to see the reactions to something like that

I want a bit of unpredictability in my wrestling. If it makes sense I don't mind knowing what's coming but If I just wanted predictability I would stick to video games where I can set things up the way I want. Having this go down on TV was a good call. The only way I think it could have been better would be to have it happen at Wrestlemania but the moment seems more real coming out of the blue for the most part. Love this and Jey deserves it.

My question is on the Montreal school screw job do you feel that Brett Innoway disrespected the business in a way he was doing the same things that he complained about Hulk Hogan doing and others as far as backstage politics he was asked to drop the belt to Shawn Michaels, but refused in a time where he was about to leave the company so anyway, they just screwed him back but on the other hand, Shawn, Michaels refused to drop the belt to Stone Cold Steve Austin and famously, was threatened by the undertaker, so why was Bret Hart not threatened by the undertaker or labeled difficult to work with if he also refused to drop the title to a fellow wrestler?

I’m happy this happened on a Raw because it was unexpected but I don’t agree with your point about things not needing to happen on PPVs in general. Saying people get it for free instead of spending “£50” isn’t true because 1. People are probably going to watch the PPV either way so it wouldn’t be saving them money and 2. It’s like £10 a month on WWE Network or Peacock.

I do believe this ties in with the Bloodline storyline. You could see it in the point of the Roman/Cody promo where Roman asked Cody what he wanted. It showed a sliver of humility. I believe Roman will acknowledge Jey for his accomplishments. They have wanted Roman to a face for a long, long time. They aren't going to screw it up instantly.

Jay has main evented wrestlmania. Been involved in multiple mania main events. Longest reigning tag champs. Been around for 14 years. He beat cleanly, a up and coming monster in his first year.
