Great review - love the new format - Just recently purchased a new Honda Forza 350. My first maxi scooter after having bigger bikes for many years. I have had it a month and covered 2,500 miles including a tour of the Brecon Beaons and Snowdonia, travelling up from my home in Cornwall. It will cruise comfortably at 70mph with power to spare on the motorway, loads of space for luggage, with the Honda top box and good under-seat storage can get all my gear on board easily. Returning 86mpg even on a Mway run at a pretty constant 70mph. As an older biker, the lighter weight and relaxed seating suits my dodgy joints and this bike does everything I need. One thing I notice is that you don't get the same amount of nods from other bikers which is a bit of a shame! Two wheels is two wheels so far as I am concerned. Recommend trying one to anyone that is curious - they really are great fun.

The PCX engine became a 150cc about 9 years ago in Asia and is now a 155cc to compete with other brands. The extra power is needed with a pillion or steep hill. I have an 11 year old PCX that is still going strong after 55000km. tips: using idle stop and alarm too often will give you a very short battery life. Drive belts do not last too much longer than 20000km. Take care in the wet it is easy to lose traction

Here in Brazil it is 150 since its launch. The same power train is also used on the Adv version and the SH (which I own).

It's a 125cc in Europe due to how licenses work. It fits in the A1 class which is where learners start out.

Yeah in the modern world 150 is a pretty sweet spot between economy and being able to travel at modern car speeds on most roads. 125… it’s just an out of date licensing restriction IMhO that was from the era of the family car making way less than 100bhp and roads being a lot less busy. Nowadays struggling to get up to 100kph is rediculous even for learners as they have no choice but to use the faster roads

Splicing good quality B roll is a great way to be time efficient and keep it interesting. Close up footage of the instrument cluster and other features is much appreciated, especially if there is an issue to highlight. Sometimes slow rolling around things like the front end is nice. Still images of things like color options and comparison bikes, really any reference to what your addressing at the moment makes the video more engaging. But, the fact that you plan and prepare for your videos so they flow well, whether a walkaround or B roll, sets you apart from those who have, slow, vague, and info deficient videos. Great video, as usual.

I bought one of these for my Missus to learn to ride on last year and thought she'd want to stay 'auto' but quickly she wanted to go for a full fat manual bike so we sold it. I've had a PCX and now got a Forza 300. It was a rewarding feeling having the auto start tech on the PCX. Sitting at a red light knowing I wasn't wasting any of the fuel I'd paid for. Apparently the tech isn't suitable for larger engines on a motorcycle - I'm not a mechanic or design engineer, so I can't say why. The under seat storage any scooter has is a luxury over conventional motorcycles but the PCX falls a little short here because part of the attraction to owning a scooter is being able to park, store your helmet under the seat and go about your business without carrying your helmet with you... the PCX will only take the smallest of helmets under the seat. My Forza definitely takes 1 helmet and is advertised to take 2 but I haven't tried. I'm 5'11" and the Forza is comfier. It just fits me better. The extra wind protection is luxurious and the extra power makes it a more substantial 2-wheeler. The smaller PCX is marginally better at nipping through traffic but the Forza gets through almost any gap the PCX does. I think there's a few of factors making the 125 the best seller. First, it's cheap. Second, a lot of people never go for their full licence, which I find odd because they have to keep redoing their CBT every 2years. Lastly, the rise of fast food delivery apps and a lot of delivery job opportunities with that, means more people are getting little scooters as a working vehicle. Andy, if you liked the PCX, try to get a loan of a Forza, they really are good.

Great first review. I bought one of these a month ago in Spain. I added a Shad topcase. Waiting for Givi to start shipping a better windscreen for as you have noticed, there is not much wind protection with the stock screen. Otherwise a great little scoot and more sophisticated than you would expect at this price. I am averaging 2.1 l/100 km on mine. If you get the 4 year warranty here in Spain they include Honda MapIt which is a decent GPS tracking solution with a dedicated app.

This is my other "bike" in the garage, as we use it on the back of a camper van as it's the only scooter we can have which isn't too heavy for the van carrier, but a scooter with great storage for leaving your gear in when parking up and visiting places, especially with an additional top box. We scootered around the Lakes 2up, no problem keeping up with traffic. I wish it would have slightly more power, as you are riding it full throttle most of the time on fast roads, but overall an excellent bike. Even my Mrs has taken her CBT and likes riding it and thinking of doing her full test!

Very interesting, for me especially living in one of the scooter capitals of the world. Here, in Thailand, the PCX 150 is very popular, not the 125. I nearly bought one except they were just to big for 'scooting'. The Yamaha Aerox 155 was much better, as comfortable, stable at speed, nippier in traffic, cheaper, not to big and easier to ride. Most Thai's think the PCX are just to bulky..... I'm guessing the PCX is limited to 125 in the UK because of licencing rules but the difference is considerable with the 150cc. My Dutch friend has the PCX, he is 6'5'' and looks comfortable.

@@JDMz Perhaps it's a regional limitation. I'm in the U.S. and the scooter will go as fast as the engine will take it, but scooters over 49cc are considered motorcycles here so there's no reason to limit it. The one I had would do 55mph (88kph) or a little faster with a strong wind.

Although I've only ever owned motorcycles, I must admit to seeing appeal in these quiet little scooters... they look very practical but also like a lot of fun in town. They're very uncommon here in Canada though since our roads are generally too fast for them (and in much too poor condition!) and you need the same full license either way. Doesn't help that we can't lane filter at all so the main attraction doesn't apply here, sadly.
@jonpram1737

I do enjoy the reviews of the ‘little bikes’! Great vid as always TMF - it looks pretty snazzy. It’d be pretty cool to see a comparison between this and the new gen 2 nmax from a western perspective. Up until now it’s been pretty simple - PCX had all the toys, nmax had slightly better performance handling and storage, now the PCX is a bit nippier and the nmax has the traction control, and the why-would-any-scooter-owner-want-this feature where the engine turns itself off once you’ve filtered to the front of the traffic. So they’re much more comparable now

I have been riding an SH150i, which uses the same powertrain as the PCX here in Brazil (and its adv version), and frequently I see myself in the garage wondering whether to take the Tiger or the SH to go into town. Bought it for my wife a couple years ago and since she hasn’t been able to get her motorcycle license, I’m left with two bikes to ride. Love scooters for the daily grind. £3000 seems a fair price for a useful piece of kit, my only real worry with these things is the cost of OEM mirrors & plastics etc. - ie. to return them to a 'dealer sell-able' state following even a minor spill & slither. (Maybe there's a market for s/h 'broken' plastics? Tastefully repaired with tie-wrap 'Frankenstein' stitches & primer - "Retro-fit these to your new bike & ride around confident in the knowledge that no one in their right mind is going to even think about stealing it . . not only that, but come 'sell-on' time, a quick swap back & the bike's immaculate!" : )

I had a 2015 (2nd gen, 2021 is the 4th gen) from new up until May. 50,375 miles mostly on single-carriageways (finally got full A1 in September '19) but with lots on faster A and motorways as well. Amazing little bikes- will do 60 mph all day, or at least until you need to give your wrist a break. 120 mpg even thrashing it, 130+ on slower roads. Very reliable- the electrics on mine went haywire in the end & it was spending more time at the menders than on the road, so I gave up on it, but parts are cheap from breakers (wiring loom and ECU less than £100....for both). Mine got fixed by its new owner and is taxed again, so hopefully making someone else smile as much. The 2021 looks like a real step forward, would buy another happily.

@@TheMissendenFlyer Larger capacity (500cc+) bikes tend to be closer (-15%) to UK prices, but anything over 300cc is counterproductive to safely navigate potential hazards (potholes, slower bikes, people and other wildlife). There are a few standout bargains here, my other pic for out of town was a Honda XLR150, a great bike, that was just 89,900PHP (£1300) OTR.

Do you think the 125 limit for learners makes sense? Always wondered if it'd be better for the CBT to be more intensive but allow people to ride 250s or something. I don't think it's enough extra power to make it any less controllable but it might let people keep up with and get out of the way of traffic a bit better.

Guy I know lost his foot by riding with sandals and shorts in Malaysia. 125 cc Scooters can easily reach speeds up to 80mph. Weird how people think that wearing no protective gear going even 40mph on a scooter is somewhat more safe when coming off it in an accident than a motorcycle.

You can’t really go wrong with a Honda .& the PCX has always been a good runaround .& priced reasonable for a Honda .The only negatives I can see is the stop start gubbins ,as it’s not good for any engine to be starting more than necessary as most wear is on start up .The amount of juice a 125 uses is negligible anyway so like the traction control & keyless palaver a bit overkill .I can imagine people getting stranded on freezing wet dark nights if & when that electrickery gubbins goes wrong .All Honda needed to do was make the screen taller ,add variable valve timing like the N max & create more space under the seat & cut out the gimmicks keep the price down .If it ain’t broke no need to fix it .Good review as per usual Mr Flyer .Scooters have their place & can be superior in the correct environment 👍

I had a PCX about 5 years ago for commuting as I didn't want to use my Shadow 1100 for short journeys. I have had 31 bikes in my lifetime and I can honestly say that it is one of my top 5! First scooter I had owned and I loved it. Unfortunately the light weight and ease of use meant that it was attractive to thieves and there were 3 attempts to take it in 12 months. In my 14th month of ownership some b*****d decided to drop kick me off the bike and attempt to damage me before stealing the bike. He wasn't successful with the first aim as I have many years of martial arts experience, which meant that none of his attempts to hit me did so. However I wasn't going to escalate the fight when I didn't know what he or his accomplice were carrying or prepared to do. So he took the scooter. Police very helpfully sent me a crime number by text. The scooter actually turned up, still in the area, 3 years later. That is another story!? This experience put me off buying a small scooter and I went back to the 1100, although I am now considering. Forza 350.

UK police are a joke. In Vietnam PCX isn't popular anymore (designed for Europeans not Asians body shape), theft here exists but in super low numbers, usually only high end import bikes, and backpacker type bikes that look basically abandoned. If a bike was stolen here the police response is pretty impressive here, and the results are fast and erm, yeah, they tend to not re-offend. UK is pathetic for policing anything other than doing 63 mph in a 60 mph zone.

Hi from the land that forgot scooters, Canada, it really sucks if you are a scooter rider in Canada, if you want a scooter from the Japanese maunufacturers all you can choose from is Honda Rukus, Suzuki Burgman 400 or Yamaha BWS 125. "UK rider" I've bought a brand new PCX 125 at the end of July and picked it up the same day that I completed my CBT. Honestly it's a brilliant moped, although it's my first 2 wheeled machine it's great. I've got a Scorpion Exo Tech flip helmet in large and it fits fine under my seat well with a little push to make the latch but by no means is it forced in. I only ride urban and I've had as high as 170mpg being very gentle on Shell regular unleaded, my current fuel is Vpower and we're getting 125-127mpg and that's WOT from the lights and then just 'normal' riding around speed limit but not trying hard to be eco so with that said the claimed 138mpg imo is easily achievable without having to concentrate on being too eco and I do use my stop/start. I've yet to see the claimed 240miles of range but that's only due to me filling up when I'm on the last bar and it isn't flashing and I usually have covered around 170miles to the last bar, I don't think I'd get another 70miles from the last bar of fuel but I haven't tried so maybe. All in all its great but I think in the future I may end up buying a Forza 125 for the bigger boot and windshield. Good review too mate 👍🏾

Never been a fan of scooters but I can see they do have their place. Also don't see a need for the idle stop feature on such a frugal machine...couldn't use much fuel at idle and not produce much pollution either . At the price you quoted I think I would have to go for a full size 125cc motorcycle from any of the Japanese makers...not that much more $$...but that's just me 😀😁😉 cheers!
