I ended up opting for the Speedmaster last year (Goldline edition), but went for mid pegs and straight bars, so effectively a comfier Bobber. Absolutely love it!

Prefer speedmaster over the bobber and you get cruise control, don't think the bobber as that.

I absolutely love my Triumph Bobber. I bought mine from a triumph dealership as a used and approved bike. The previous owner kindly fitted a Fox rear shock, which absorbs bumps brilliantly. I can ride for hours in comfort. My only gripe with the bike is the small fuel tank meaning many stops and the headlight. I wish it had much brighter LED. It always gets a crowd at any bike stop because you dont see too many on the roads. The modern retro looks seems to appeal to all bikers I meet. I can't stop smiling whenever I ride it 😁

I own a 2021 Triumph Bobber and am 6'2" with an inseam of 34". I have the floorboards with the heel/toe gearshift, which for me makes a very comfortable position, neither too cramped nor too forward. Triumph no longer seem to offer this option when looking at the configurator on their website, which is a shame. Handling as you mentioned is surprisingly very good for this style of bike. My only criticism is the rather short travel of the suspension, which with a heavy rider like me, and badly maintained road surfaces, occasionally bottoms out. I love mine, and any sunny day we get is an excuse to get out and ride.

Sad that 90% of their bikes, esp 'affordable' one's, are for midget's. Head honcho's at Head office must find it difficult to stare over their desks when standing.

I haven't ridden the chrome edition, but I have ridden the standard one. I think the most impressive part of the Bobber is that it truly captures the soul essence of an American bobber (say, one built on a H-D Sportster). Not in that it has a rumbling V-twin or anything like that, but in that the rear brake does absolutely sod all to slow the bike down!

The segment you added at the end was fantastic; I got the same endorphin rush just watching it. A twisting country lane with a canopy of trees overhead on an English summer day. On a beautiful Triumph too. Life doesn’t get any better than this,,,

I’ve had one from new 2020, apart from the rear shock (changed for a Hagon) I love it. Always gets attention and it’s great fun to ride. If you’re feeling cramped move the seat back! As for not seeing any there’s loads, I was at Bobhead a couple of weeks ago and there was at least 6.

This is my bike, well a 2018. Love it and wouldn’t trade it in for anything. Seat is uncomfortable as well as rear shock, but that should be upgraded when time and money allows. As for long distance riding, well it takes a solid backside to do it without at least a rear suspension upgrade.

With the new front end looks, the Bobber is a much nicer looking bike than when 1st released Imho. Not to sure if I'd pay the extra for the chrome edition, tho it looks ok. Also, comfort looks pretty none existent, but could be deceiving. Think I'd probably go for the Speedmaster. Thanks for another great video mr Flyer.

I'd like to borrow one for a weekend. No use for touring though, fitting a rear rack means drilling through the rear mudguard, & weight restrictive. Chrome detailing makes it look cheap - our local dealer has one, & the chrome finish looks rippled. I'll stick to my Speed Twin 1200.....does everything for me.

I have the early bobber with the 9 litre tank and i must own the most economical one in the UK, based on peoples comments. I get a minimum of 130miles with at least a litre left in the tank on refills, i actually got to nearly 150 miles and it still had some fuel left, i ride it fairly hard too and it always says around 63 mpg and the dash no matter how i ride. I ride with pals who confirm the miles covered, so i know it's legit. The bike has a Booster plug and Vance & Hines, otherwise standard. I nearly did'nt buy it due to size of the tank, but it has really suprised me.

Love the look of this bike. The tank, paintwork and finish look great. I sat on one at the MCN show and there it's no chance I could cope with the seating position at 6ft 3". Seeing a photo of me on it I looked ridiculous. Sometimes it's styling over practically. The fuel tank is too small and I don't like that Triumph also reduced the tank size on the new Street Triple.

Very much in the UK, a stiff pedal ride to Missenden but in the general segment. I hate plus 34 degree heat, and loved our summer, even though rain is far worse on pushies vs m/bikes, I escaped most of the showers. I wouldn't say I'm getting the hots for a return to m/bikes as my local roads/drivers mean it will be a long slog to get to decent roads but I like this years Harley line and of course the Speedy. Cruiser's.. Mmmmm. Dere's nothing quite like 'em.@@TheMissendenFlyer

Just as with the Speedmaster, the tank range is about 130 miles, not 100. When I bought my Speedmaster I was told it and the Bobber were now exactly the same bike except for the rear-end styling. On a personal note, Bobbers just don't blow my skirt up. That seat sort of tacked onto the back of the bike reminds me of piece of agricultural equipment, something you might see in a field being towed behind a tractor. 🙂The Bobber seat does have a rider weight limit of about 120KG I think, which may be a problem for some. Speedo is the same as the Speedmaster and I really like it. 'Vincentesque' as one reviewer put it. Agree about the elastic bands, which my Speedmaster also has, though I can't say I notice them when riding. Cheers and thanks for the vid! Vince

@@TheMissendenFlyerwell honestly I'd say the speedy as it can do everything. Been on holidays with it, use it for round town, its comfy as anything iv ever ridden. The bobber is a hoot to ride and it gets all the looks, iv never grinned so much on a bike as I do with the bobber. I wouldn't part with it but if I had to choose id keep the speedy. You definitely need a speedy in your garage I know you like them. 😁

I've lwys been a sports bike rider, but last year when I saw the gold line Bobber I had to have it. I think its one of the best looking bikes around. I've never had so many positive co me ts from bikers and non-bikers than I've had witn the Bobber. There are so many customisation options for them from the likes of Motone that you can lean into the cruiser side or do as I've done and lean into the sporty retro side. Had to replace the stocks hock with a custom Maxton unit which transforms the ride. I don't think I'd like it as my only bike due to poor ground clearance and relative lack of speed but I have a SpeedTriple RS too, so that does sporty stuff and the Bobber is for relaxing rides on sunny days.

Love your vids, I’m in the market for a Bobber as like you say, I hardly see any, I think 2 in the last year in the UK. I’d definately need a custom padded seat and get the rear shock changed for sure to save my Chalfonts from exploding with hard bumps 🤣😂 My biggest debate is how far do I go customising it, I have a custom shop in mind, a budget and all the gizmos and gadgets I want changing or added to my liking. The exhaust choice is a headache, so I’ll need to go either obnoxiously loud and unsociable or some with a grunt that will get through its MoT at a later date etc. The Bobber will be ideal as I’ve had a mad year on a Z900 RE as my first new bike in 30 years, the Rain mode to ease me back into two wheels lasted about an hour before I went boy racer 90’s fireblade mode 😂. I was going to trade up to a Z H2 SE but the Bobber is cheaper and can get brand new chrome edition for £11,995 new old stock! The rest will be spent on customising it 👍🍻

You mentioned you have not seen any. I'm in Sydney Australia and I have this exact bike in the chrome addition and absolutely love it! Purchased it February this year and already clocked up approx 11000km. In that time, I have not seen another either! There seems to be a winning noise in second gear at 60km/hr which was there from the beginning, apparently it's normal? Everything seems to be running nicely, just the noise is annoying. You need to either be below or above 60 for it to disappear and it only happens in 2nd gear. Out of interest, did you or anyone with this bike experience this?

I couldn’t quite see the engine badge on your film but you said it was the same engine as your speed twin, is that correct?, I thought the bobber had the HT version of the 1200 twin, so would have the heavier crank, whereas the speed twin has the HP version of the engine. I have a Thruxton 1200 with the HP engine and once rode a Bonneville with the HT engine, it makes a huge difference to the way the engine responds , also the HP engine makes around 20bhp more than the HT engine and counter to the moniker slightly more torque as well.

I loved my original. The engine pulled like a train and sounded glorious, but as you say the front brake on the original was rubbish. I replaced it with a bigger disk and four pot brembo caliper. However ultimately I couldn't live with the lack of ground clearance. I dont see myself as a bargain bin Rossi, but it shouldn't drag its undercarriage at such modest lean angles. The rear suspension too was pretty basic one size fits all. It definitely benefits from an aftermarket shock.

I bought a bobber black in 2018 and kept it for 4 years. I loved it. Mine had the 9 litre tank and would get you 110 miles ish. The newer one has a 12 litre, so that is an improvement. Its comfortable for a couple of hours or so, pulls like a train, and was reliable. I did tail tidy the back end and added some british custom pipers, which sounded amazing. Everyone loved the bobber. Only real gripe was pressuring the front tyre between the large brake discs and spokes was chore.

I wonder if it's possible to get bobbins on that swingarm in order to use a rear stand for chain maintenance? I had a 2020 Street Twin and had to use a jack under the frame to get the rear wheel off the ground due to lack of bobbin holes on the swingarm. Looks like a similar issue here? I understand the Speed Twin does take bobbins?

Good point - and yes I have bobbins on my Speed Twin (not that I have ever used them!)

At that price point, I'm a little surprised that the clutch is cabled and not hydraulic. Also, as you mentioned, it's surprising that there's only a single clock.

I think the 100 miles range you got on your first test ride was with the 9 litre tank not the 12 litre tank.

Things you don't like about this Bobber: 1. Cramped riding position 2. Not very comfortable. Seat lacking padding. 3. Harsh hard ride. Needs to be softer. 4. Fuel tank small capacity. 5. Elastic bands securing cables/wiring on handle bars. 6. Single clock dial. Twin clocks would be preferable. 7. Ignition key on side of engine. 8. Steering lock separate from engine ignition key. 9. Fake carb(s). The Speedmaster looks a prettier more complete bike and makes for a much more practical bike imho. Wouldn't it be nice if Triumph could give the Speedmaster and Bobber belt drives? Also twin clock dials and a slightly larger fuel tank.

Nice review & it's a great looking & sounding bike. The 12 litre tank is a bit silly but like the Katana (which I know you hate lol) which also has a 12 litre tank, 100-120 mile tank range is enough imo if the bike is all about the looks & just cruising about posing. There's also plenty of bikes out there with larger tanks but very similar ranges so not a deal breaker for me.

Not my cup of tea but always enjoy your bike reviews. Now I might be alone in this but I actually like the piss pot brake fluid reservoirs on bikes and often it's the more expensive machines that have them and the cheaper ones that don't. Lamb chops has just reviewed the near 30 grand pikes peak Ducati which has them for clutch and brake. MotoGP bikes have them too🤔

The type of bike to pop out for the afternoon on. It’s a bit if fantasy bike, but the reality is not very practical. Makes you look good with a pisspot helmet on and a cigar in your cake hole. 12 litre tank is better than the 9 litre of the original. A mate of mine gets about 130 to a tank, sometimes a little more. No worse than my cbr600. Lucky to get 120 out of that thing. Like me a Bonnie, stress free bikes.
