... the third person of the trinity always had me slightly puzzled: The spirit. A spokesman. A gigantic 'router' somehow connecting us with the father and the son - the root sources of our 'internet', ultimate source of power getting the whole thing going. @@robertgroen2197 To untangle the lie of the trinity takes intense study and hermeneutical applications to reveal the truth to a trinitarian. This false dogma is passionately believed in and takes effort and openness to the truth to realize the trinity is a lie. As for your passages, it just takes some digging to understand what is actually being said. With the guidance from the Holy Spirit (God's Spirit-John 4.24), we can easily see there is a meaning where you don't have to make assumptions. Look... Genesis 1.1 Where it all begins is with this verse. Genesis is the first book of the Pentateuch showing how the universe, earth, and man was created… [RSV] Genesis 1.1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.” Occasionally, but not always, we see trinitarians claim that it is the person of the Father and the person of the Holy Spirit revealed here in this passage. Next, they point out that the Hebrew word for God means that God is a united one, implying a multi-person deity. There are a couple of sobering concerns with this awful claim. First, the readability of the text only seems to show that it is God’s essence that moved over the waters. Just reading the text for the first time you wouldn’t get the impression there were two persons being spoken of here. Here is an example of making a similar type of statement… “Tom sat next to the pool. The water looked clear blue as the hand of Tom touched and skimmed the water gently.” Okay, so does this mean the “hand” of Tom is another person of Tom? Of course not! We know from many scriptural sources, not the least of which being John 4.24 saying very plainly that God is Spirit. If we read the text without assuming a trinity, we see that God’s presence, power, and essence (aka Spirit), moved over the face of the waters, not entirely unlike Tom’s hand in the example provided. The second concern that might be raised by trinitarians about this is the Hebrew word for God is “Elohim”. In the Strongs reference, it is #430, can have two meanings. The term Elohim has been applied to humans, angels, judges, etc. Whenever the term Elohim has referred to anyone other than God, it can mean plural, because the term is describing the power, ability, and authority of the subject. Whenever the term Elohim has been applied to God, or YHWH, it has never meant plural in number, but instead a plural of majesty. Elohim is not, and has never, meant to indicate a combined, composite, or unified one. A short study of this term using credible sources should quickly reveal this. It should be further noted that Hebrew scholars and Jews for 3,500 years always understood this intended meaning of Elohim. It wasn’t until trinitarian concepts were formulated by men, did this idea of dishonestly adding meaning to the term Elohim come about. Just a reminder that we need to be very cautious about how we interpret the Bible. If one is to be honest with themselves, scripture, and God, we MUST know the Word of God using proper study methods and allow the Holy Spirit to reach us and show us.

I don't understand why God would need a relationship with somebody else to avoid being lonely. This is true for a _human being,_ but not for God, of whom Isaiah says, _"'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,'" says the Lord."_ (55:8) God is perfect, completely self sufficient, and independent, which means that (even as a singular Person) He doesn't need anything or anybody else. It's not normal for a _human_ to experience life this way, for a human requires another in order to express love, but _God's_ love is independent of a recipient because it is part of His fundamental nature.

I have heard this line of reasoning from other prominent individuals. Im sure it sounds like a strong argument to those who believe that God is a Trinity. It is a complete circular argument, though. I do get frustrated when listening to lessons like this because the actual evidence is ignored. I know he is trying to engage people's emotions and not just present a boring Bible fact search, but this was 95% philosophy. All of the following are clearly stated in scripture multiple times: Jesus has a God. Jesus' God is the Father alone. God (the Father) anointed Jesus. God sent Jesus. God raised Jesus. God seated Jesus at his right hand. God appointed Jesus to judge. Jesus is God's son. Jesus became superior to angels. Jesus had all things put in subjection to him by God. These are the immovable facts. Incontrovertible, indisputable. My conclusion is that God is the Father alone and Jesus is his highly exalted son. Philosophy means nothing if it doesn't start with the right set of facts.

From the beginning, God is eternally Trinity. You say "But, that word itself is not written in the Bible. Besides, that word founded by church fathers later on. So it doesn't matter". Yes! I don't deny the history fact. But this God who described himself in as such in the Bible is the reason those theologians think of "Trinity" as a word to exude, to explain the truth about the God of the Bible. Its everywhere in New Testament. "But, what about Trinity in Old Testament?" you ask. In Genesis, God said "Let US create" when He created the world. "Elohim" is one of God's name, which is a plural hebrew word. In Babel Tower story, God said "Let US..." This "Father" isn't like that kind of father that we think. Like you said "who is the mother". "Father" is a word to describe God's life giving, outwardly nature. I hope this helps :)

Really confusing. At 6:45, he is talking of God as a single being..."What was God doing before He created the world?". Then He makes him a trinity. Then he has three gods "God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit". That makes 3. He also says that Jesus is the Son of God, but in a trinity they are all "god"...so the trinity denies the actual sonship of God, and in 1 John 2:22-23 is denounced as an antichrist teaching. It is only philosophy that says that you can't be love without something to love. God was not lacking in love before He brought forth His Son.

The biggest problem with the 'trinity' is that The son of God could not have totally come to earth & died. If so the trinity would not have remained complete for at least 3 days during which Jesus was dead. We either believe that |Jesus WAS God's dear son. that is ALL OF HIM, not a so called 'incarnation' ( a non biblical word). Thus the full price of a perfect human 'soul' would not have counterbalanced the perfect human soul that Adam lost. ( See Rom 5). Only the human body of Jesus was dead for 3 days. His spirit who is God was not dead. Jesus has two natures he is fully God and fully man. As a man he humbled himself to death. This is all explained in Philippians 2:6-8.

Our fellowship is with the Father and with his son Jesus and with one another. There's no scripture that says our fellowship is with the Holy Spirit 1John 1:3 . There's no greeting except by the Father and Jesus in any of the epistles but the holy spirit is left out, The Trinity has not brought peace only pain for those who will not accept it. Does the OT say that the God of Israel was a trinity? Not according to the New Catholic Encyclopedia, which says: "The doctrine of the Trinity is not taught in the Old Testament." Does the NT say that the God of Israel was a trinity? Not according to 1 Cor. 8:6, which says: "There is one God, the Father." That is quite different from the trinity doctrine, which says that the Father AND Son AND holy spirit "are one God." Peter spoke of the God of Israel as being a separate person from Jesus. As he said at Acts @: "The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him." So, Jesus and the God of Israel are two separate persons. Jesus is God's glorified servant. Why you can't see that is beyond me.

If the two agree 100%, then that should confirm that the trinity is based squarely on Scripture. But is that the case? Well, judge for yourself: 1. THE BIBLE says that the Father is the ONLY person that “the true worshipers” (Christians) should worship. (John @) 7A. THE TRINITY DOCTRINE says: “The trinity in unity is to be worshiped.” So, do the Bible and the trinity doctrine agree on who God is? Absolutely not! The Matthew 4:23 says Jesus preached Gospel in Galilee. We all know the 4 canonical gospels came into existence 40-65 years after Jesus left this earth. So what was the gospel that Jesus preached in Galilee and where is it now? Jesus said that the Father is the only true God (John 17:3). That verse invalidates and falsifies the dogma of Trinity. The Father is omniscient but Jesus is not. He didn't know the hours.

Jesus preached the Gospel orally he is the giver of the 4 Gospels. Each apostle Matthew, Mark, Luke and John wrote down what he was saying. Jesus didn't need the physical book in his hand. As Jesus is the word of God John 1:1-3, 14.

In the Nicea council they didn't understand that the Holy Spirit IS THE FATHER. Jesus states that "God is a spirit", where "God" is the "Father", of course. Well, "God who is a Spirit" gets in the gospels the name of "Spirit of God" or "Holy Spirit". Thus the Holy Spirit=the Father (who is in the form of a spirit). The "Father being a spirit" means that NOBODY IS HERE: God is present here only with his love, his words and actions, but He is ABSENT. Jesus has thus the "Father who is a spirit" and calls Him sometimes "Father", sometimes "Spirit (Holy)", depending on circumstances and this could be confusing. But they are just two equivalent names. For example (see blasphemy against the Holy Spirit) Jesus could have said "..but blasphemy against the Father will not be forgiven...", in an equivalent manner. For example, in "..only the Father knows" Jesus could have said: "..only the Holy Spirit knows" instead. Thus, NO "THIRD DIVINE PERSON", no triune God exists. The Father IS THE HOLY SPIRIT and only in this "limited form of a spirit" takes actions now: see Mary's pregnancy see Jesus being filled with the Holy Spirit and helped by Him when talking : "The words I say to you, I say not on my own but from the FATHER WHO DWELLS IN ME."(the Father who dwells in Jesus is in the form of a spirit: He is the Holy Spirit). see the words spoken by Him at the Jesus' baptism ("...you are my beloved Son..") The Father in his "normal form" is thus NOT available, see Jesus' answer to Philip: the Father cannot be shown Jesus sits next to the POWER of God, thus God is NOT IN HEAVEN either. When Jesus will come, "the Son of man comes WITH HIS HOLY ANGELS, He shall sit upon the throne of His glory." i.e. the Father will NOT be there with Jesus either. Since the Father is ABSENT, the Son INHERITED the Reign of God " The Father loves the Son and has given ALL THINGS into His hand." Accordingly, Jesus will judge people, NOT THE FATHER "The Father judges no man, but has turned over all judgment to the Son." The Father in his "normal" form only existed in a distant past, BEFORE THE BIRTH of mankind "the world has not known you", this is why "no one has ever seen God", of course. Only Jesus HAS SEEN the Father, i.e. an "action taken", i.e. Jesus does not see the Father now. What above happens because for logical reasons the almighty God cannot be here now.

Rehashing the different analogies that are used to describe the Trinity so that they can be dismantled, is not going to make the doctrine more understandable or palatable. It is IMPOSSIBLE to make the doctrine acceptable to Christian believers, simply because it does not originate from God. Anyone who knows the voice of God will NOT answer to the Trinity, for if God wanted to present Himself as a Trinity, it would NOT be up to human theologians to determine so. God is not honored nonetheless. It is not good hermeneutical practice to find verses to support a doctrine. Good and acceptable hermeneutical practice is to let the text speak to us rather than we speak to it. However, Deuteronomy 4:2 and Revelation 22:18 prohibit adding to God's words in the Bible. The Trinity is a very dangerous doctrine in that it seeks to wedge one more word where God says we cannot, and it describes a concept that is completely foreign to God. Why has no one in the New or the Old Testament ever mentioned it? Were they less erudite than we are today? Were they less erudite than we are today? Can you imagine our arrogance trying to shove down God's throat a word that is absolutely extraneous to the Bible? The doctrine of the Trinity has NO spiritual value. Period.

In fact, what Jesus was explaining was to baptize by the means of our salvation. Jesus was explaining that we baptize in one name and one person. Jesus means literally YHWH the Savior. It is the Father alone that saves by appointing His Son as our high priest and the Holy Spirit is showing the understanding that we are to have communion with the Father by His Holy Spirit through His Son Jesus. It is in the name by which we are saved. Its not a trinity, its showing the method of our salvation and the name is behind it. Same thing in your Corinthians reference, except it is Paul wishing grace, peace, and communion with the Holy Spirit. Paul is most certainly not teaching a trinity. You are assuming a trinity. Scripture makes it abundantly clear that God is only one God. Jesus is the Father's Son and has the Fulness of the Father indwelling in Him. Have you not read what Jesus said of His Father ??? God the Father didn't send Himself down to Earth. Jesus said in John 6:39; " And this is the Father's will which hath sent Me, that of all which he hath given Me I should lose nothing but should raise it again at the last day. And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day". Jesus is God the Son who became incarnate as a human being in order to redeem a lost world to Himself. God the Father sent God the Son to be the Saviour of the world. When Christ blood was shed the blood of God was shed, (Acts 20:28). Christ claimed equally with the Father by working on the Sabbath Day, (John 5:18). Christ claimed the Father gave Him the right to judge, (John 5:22). There are literally hundreds of verses which point to Christ as "God the Son". These responses are great! Another things you must consider is God is holy. God cannot pardon the wicked, proverbs teaches that as an abomination to the Lord. He must maintain his holiness and execute his wrath. Someone must pay the price of sin. Christ himself is our sinless and perfect substitute. He must be God because only God is perfect and sinless. Christ is now our high priest, making intercession for sinners. Jeremiah 23:6 is fulfilled in that. He ourself is our righteousness. Only God can forgive sin. Christ has.

To me this sounds like someone saying they want to avoid talking about a trinity because they don’t know how to explain it. Personally, I believe, trinity is a poor way of explaining it because it confuses what is so simple Just look at super positions in physics. A particle can exist in any state or all states at the same time. As can God exist as the Holy Spirit and as Jesus at the same time. He could also exist as a burning Bush. God can exist as a Holy Spirit and Jesus at the same time. I think God is not the Father of Jesus because Jesus is God. God is the Father of everything

Sorry to inform you folks but the Trinity isn't unique nor original with Christianity and is an entirely pagan idea dating back to the 2nd century BC. One of the most common beliefs among pagan cultures was a trinity of gods. We find this among the Egyptians, Sumerians, Indians, Chaldeans and Babylonians to where historians trace the roots of trinitarianism predating Christianity. Church father Tertullian (160-225AD) was the first to mention the Trinity referring to the Christian God.

How do you know that GOD was alone in eternity. Were you there at eternity to look at GOD and his works. You can try so hard to explain this so called trinity, but it will never ever make sense because this concept of GOD is created by bunch of men experimenting on concepts of GOD and by the way this trinity concept of GOD is not what the bible teaches us. So don't trouble yourself. And don't waste your time on trinity. I am a Christian and I know the truth. Christ said he has a GOD and his GOD is our GOD (Jhn 20:17). Paul said GOD of Christ is our GOD. (Ephesians 1:17) And Paul's writings are often misquoted to prove this trinity. Its so hurtful to see where Christianity is going today. Stick to the 1st century teachings of apostles and do not modernize. What I'm wondering about, honestly, is how in the third millennium we still are discussing about the Trinity, which sets a world record as regards nonsense : 1. the theory states that the almighty God is HERE NOW. But this is impossible. The future is SET IN STONE. We are FREE because we do NOT know what is written there. But God would know that future instead and that future MUST COME TRUE. This means God would NOT be OMNIPOTENT: He could not even change the weather of tomorrow! He would be OBLIGED to let the future EXACTLY UNFOLD like it is, nothing can be changed. God would NOT BE FREE too, obliged to TAKE EXACTLY the God's actions already set in stone, down to the tiny detail. 2. God having a God-Son in the LITERAL SENSE is ridiculous: there is NO REASON for that. Further, that Son would be of course a "demi-God" and the people would still keep praying to the only one real God, the ONLY REAL ORIGIN of everything: his Father 3. the Son has his origin in the Father, but the Father has NOT his origin in the Son. This means that the Father is the ORIGIN of EVERYTHING, including the Son, whilst - on the other hand - the Son IS NOT THE ORIGIN of all. Thus they cannot be co-equal as stated by the doctrine. 4. it is ridiculous and OFFENSIVE to state that God is made of "substance". How can they quibble about the layout of God? It's just FANTASY. 5. therefore is NONSENSE to state that Father and Son are made of a SAME substance 6. ...and even if they were made by a same substance, MINDS MATTER not substance! They still were TWO DISTINCT Persons as long as they have two DIFFERENT MINDS (this is disclosed by the Gospels) 7. ...and since the Father teaches the Son things, they don't even share the same information. This means they surely have DIFFERENT MINDS so that they cannot be a "same God" (when Father and Son EXIST AT THE SAME TIME, but they DO NOT). 8. it's absurd having TWO almighty persons in the universe: if One of them wants the moon white-painted, what will the other Person do in this regard, could He change that color? Logic allows at most ONLY ONE omnipotent person to exist, because omnipotence is an UNCONDITIONAL power 9. it's RIDICULOUS to state that the almighty God is NOT SUFFICIENTLY ALMIGHTY and He needs to be helped by a "God's Helper" 10. In the gospels Father and Son NORMALLY TALK as it happens with TWO common different persons "thank you for hearing me...". If the Father existed now in a NORMAL form, then we surely had TWO Gods, that is POLYTHEISM. But God is ONLY ONE ! Thus, they are TWO INSTEAD, but since the POWER is not God, ONLY ONE Person is in heaven: Jesus. Of course Jesus hasn't got TWO SPIRITS inside of Him (the Father and the Holy Spirit) but only ONE. Indeed "Father" and "Holy Spirit" are just two names for the SOME ONE Spirit. Jesus has the "Father who is a spirit" and calls Him sometimes "Father" (when Himself is concerned), sometimes "Spirit" (Holy, of God, of the Father). The devil could be in you, in a similar manner GOD could be in you instead, to help you. God who is a spirit is inside you to help you, i.e. you have the Holy Spirit in you. God was able to do ALL HIS WORK in that remote past, ONLY AFTER deciding ALL his future actions He was able to know the whole future! The knowledge of the WHOLE future corresponds thus to the CONCLUSION of the God's work. When the WHOLE future was known, God simply COMMANDED his power "SO IT SHALL BE (but without me)". That's all. By doing so, God avoided LATER OBLIGATIONS to PERSONALLY and EXACTLY take all the God's actions set out in that WELL-DETERMINED future. God's work was OVER, God got immediately FREE from any other duty. This means that God is NOT here now and that the God's words are automatically spoken by his power (a thing) alone. Since we hear the God's words but NOBODY is here, we say that God is here a spirit ("God is a spirit" John 4, 24). He is the "Spirit of God". This means the almighty God ONLY dwells in that remote past ("the world has not known you") and nobody ever saw Him. Thus, the almighty God is absent, just his power is here (Jesus in heaven indeed sits only next to THE POWER of God). This all means that God is NOT immutable: there was a time BEFORE commanding "So it shall be" when God PERSONALLY LIVED all relationships with us, and a time AFTER that. During the time BEFORE, God was able to SEE US into his future and to take actions in that future. But, changing active to passive form, this conversely means that we are NOW OBSERVED by Him from that distant past. After his command, the almighty God was totally FREE, He could thus get rid of his then USELESS power (his power was already set for that determined future, ready to start to work alone) to BECOME LIKE A NORMAL MAN : the "Son of God". "Son" thus means that He DERIVES from God. The Son is now the OWNER of heaven. The Father didn't cease to exist though! As shown above He went on existing in the form of a spirit. We can say that the almighty God is a spirit and is here (version preferred by Jesus) i.e. only the Son and the Father in the form of a spirit are here now, they are thus TWO ("I am not alone because the Father is with me"), not THREE. In reality we now have a relationship with the almighty God who is in that distant future, we are observed by Him NOW.

@@eswn1816 The Holy Spirit is an ATTRIBUTE of the almighty God, not a third person. Jesus has indeed an origin: the Father. The Father on the contrary has no origin in the Son, He was eternal. Jesus was that almighty Father before losing his power "He who has seen me has seen the Father." “ I from myself am not able to do a thing” (John 5:30).
