_Jalan2 cari makan_ is the malaysian version of the australian walkabout, only it's not in some jungle or vast desert or anything like that, and it's mainly to explore good food, usually with the company of good friends or family 😊 For _duit raya_ the custom is to hand them out to our parents and the elderly, to kids, and youngsters who have yet to land a job, during _hari raya_ ie. if it's family then at home after returning from the _sembahyang raya_ (raya prayer in the morning of the 1st day), else it's when kids etc visit our homes anytime between the 1st day to the last - in malaysia it's 1 month long! 😅 And the house of every muslim is an open house, although usually we limit ourselves to going only to neighbor's houses apart from the more natural acts of visiting friends and relatives, plus we may also join a family member or a friend going to his/her friend's house too even though we do not know those people, that's what it means by our *raya open house*

@@themothfamily idk how it'd be special to get pinned, er okay not myself but my comment 😅 but hey thanks for finding it informative enough 👍 Yup I also hope you do get to sample an open house for this aidilfitri if you haven't experienced it already. Well, at the very least you can find out when is our prime minister, our king, and say, the selangor state _menteri besar_ (mb, or chief minister) if you're staying in kl, will be holding their respective open houses, which are definitely open to the public, and people, locals and foreigners, do go in droves to these events, so you want to know the exact venue and get there early! Take care and join the malays in our month-long aidilfitri celebration! 👍

That reminds me of the one time i went to Beijing and a really cute child with dirt on her face and clothes came to me, asking for money. I didn't feel good about the idea of child beggar so I didn't want to give her money. But since she was very cute like a doll, I wanted to take a picture (I already had my camera on as a tourist). But suddenly the child's mother (?) popped out of nowhere, said "no photo" and dragged her child away. After that I informed our tourist guide and was told that I might have unknowingly escaped a syndicate targeting tourists. Can't say that Malaysia is completely clean but at least I've never seen people using children to beg for money on the street in Malaysia. Using kids to sell food, yes, but never seen a child beggar here.

Love bazaar ramadan's vibes, the way they were fasting for the whole day but not an ounce of tiredness was shown, everyone seemed so friendly and cheerful. Also that was so nice of yall with the duit raya gesture. Ramadan and eid is all about "celebrating the act of giving" so we appreciate it so much. We believe that the more you give, the more you will receive and those little donuts are just the beginning of your prosperity, may you will receive more. 😉 ❤ P/s: I also did a whole lap before buying cause it can be very overwhelming esp for people who is fasting. 😂

One of the reasons Muslims fasting is to deepen and understand the feelings and conditions of poor people who live hungry or have no food. Therefore we will feel grateful to God and want to help the poor community. For example, we will understand how the people of Gaza/Palestine feel. So we feel sad and want to help them. Happy Holiday guys!
