This guy speaks the truth! 5 years ago I was friendless and passion less. I now have a good career, an amazing hobby I'm passionate about, I'm married have a kid, and have a few friends that mean the world to me. I never thought my day would come, but it has, and I've prospered ever since! Keep going!

The only reason I know about these guys is cos a guy was playing this tune on his guitar and singing it while we were in a Call of Duty lobby, people were telling him to shut up but I was intrigued and asked him what song it was. Never looked back, that guy was a hero.

Oh man! This was my entry point. My first song. I was gobsmacked. I was impressed. I was weeping with pain and joy and frustration. My journey started here with this a decade ago. Sorry, I was late to the party. I am feeling many strong emotions seeing and hearing this. Hearing this was a breakthrough for me. Changed the course of my life.

Mine was elsewhere, the one they clearly wrote specifically about my relationship with an ex, which somehow made it into an episode of an Adult Swim show I never really watched. Lots of emotions.

I'm not sure I understand the meaning behind this song but that lyric, "There's gonna be a party when the Wolf (mother) comes home" is pure poetry ♥️
@spinozatheobvious6263 ай бұрын
So this is off of a concept album that's centered on Darnelle's abusive stepfather. This song is centered on the people around that didn't do things that maybe they could have, his mom (whom, it seems, he is trying to forgive) and his neighbors (for whom he seemingly has a bit less sympathy?). So what is this party? I've tended to read it as a hope for a happy moment with his mom, a possibility of facing each other earnestly and lovingly despite everything.

"I'm gonna bribe the officials, I'm gonna kill al the judges! It's gonna take you people years to recover from all of the damage!" Such an impactful set of lyrics for me. So relatable. A little bit of bitterness mixed with joy and freedom even. This song really sets the tone of what it feels like to have gone through abuse most your life and finally start to overcome it.

I feel bad for John. He is clearly annoyed at his hair impeding his sight. What with the head shaking. I used to have a friend who was always behaviorally annoyed at his longish hair. He did not know it, but he was - kept shaking it off his forehead and eyes. Kept shaking his head back and forth to clear the sightline. Like twice a minute. I don't get it, myself. Just shave your head, already. That would drive me crazy. Hair on my forehead. Hair in my eyes.
@kaznrg2 жыл бұрын
I dunno, maybe. I always feel like crap when my hair is short, though I’ll acknowledge that it’s more convenient. There’s definitely an appeal to having longer hair, a sense of freedom and release and allowing things to go as they will that makes even those little motor tics seem desirable. There’s something very zen in just letting your hair grow and learning to accept it, and there’s something very zen in shaving it all off and forgetting about it.
@Scott_Forsell2 жыл бұрын
@@kaznrg Yeah. I have to admit I am biased towards short hair on myself and possibly project that onto others. I respect others' choices. You (and John) can wear your hair anyway you want. One thing I recall from my youth (in the early 70s) is that long hair, to me, was annoying and was constantly distracting. One day I asked a friend to give me a Mohawk. She did. It felt wonderful. So liberating! I loved it. A radical change. I had hated hair in my eyes and on my forehead. Nowadays, a .5 or 1 mm buzz twice a month keeps me happy.
