I was pretty bummed when Windows Phone 7/8/10 died. My favorite OS by far. The Samsung Focus was probably the phone I had the longest, and it seemed way ahead of it's time: super smooth OS, you could reply to texts from the notification shade, and the start screen was intuitive and useful. Sigh...

I used Nokia Windows phones for a few years and they were the best phones I've ever owned. A shame WP fell apart. We badly need another major platform to shake things up!
@izzieb7 жыл бұрын
I loved my Nokia Lumias. I feel like WP8 was the best iteration, sticking to the Metro design language and extremely well optimised. My Lumia 1520 used to last 3 days on one charge. WP8.1 was slightly less optimised but it brought a few much needed features to the table. Windows 10 Mobile on the other hand, was and is an awful mess. Microsoft really should have stuck on course with their design language and direction, instead they wanted to make it more "familiar" to iOS/Android users. Satya Nadella doesn't seem to have any real plans besides trying to turn everything Microsoft in to a subscription service.

Wonderful video Michael. Your content is truly one of a kind. 2008 was an important time for me. I was giving my O-levels, moving on from my 3rd crush, getting into soccer and most importantly getting into the world of the internet. (3rd world country. What can you do? 😅) My closest companion for that period was the Nokia 6680. And honestly the fond memories I have of it isn't skewed by nostalgia because it was a genuinely good phone. Sure it didn't have the latest specs or the features but it was good for what it's worth. Responsive UI. And a satisfactory camera for the time. Took thousands of photos with it. Of the cool rides in my city. Of the road trips and so much more. On the internet side of things it got me into forums and the latest technology and of course reading online fiction. I could ramble on and on but I will keep it short. I used that phone for 4 years. And even when my family and my friends were flashing around their iPhones and N-gages, I never really felt that I had an outdated phone. Unfortunately the demands of modernity have altered my necessities and old phone can work for so long. However the amazing speed and endurance of my OnePlus 5 carries on the Spirit of my Nokia 6680. Thanks for reading Michael(if you have read so far. Lol. Looking forward to your next video.

I didn’t have a smartphone until 2009 so between 2006-2009 I used a Sony Ericsson dumbphone for texting and calling and a PSP Slim for browsing the web and playing games. The PSP didn’t have flash or HTML5 and could only fully load like 30% of the websites, but I hadn’t had anything like it before, so it was revolutionary for me. It also had a switch for wi-fi too!

Love this retro review stuff! I remember these PocketPCs fondly....they were slow, buggy, but the idea you could literally browse the Internet and run pseudo-Windows programs was amazing for the time! Yeah, we've come a long way since then, for a lot cheaper, but they were an important foundational step to what we have today, and without it, we may have never learned from the lessons that PocketPC forced us to learn the hard way.

This one reminds me of my Samsung Omnia I still have laying around, and it still works without a problem. Mainly because of Windows mobile 6.1, and because of that stylus included since phone digitizers were just bad back then, and almost never responded until you touched the screen with the tip of your nail. I just remember that they called Omnia "another iPhone killer" and other similar names. It just brings some memories, I must say...
