In our latest webinar as part of the Ask a Professional series, Amy Beth-Rice, a Memphis-based Arts Educator discusses Artist Bios and Statements.
Originally from the Ozarks, Amy-Beth Rice received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Memphis College of Art and is currently based in Memphis, TN. With a focus on color, whimsy, and movement; her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout the Midwest and the Midsouth. Amy-Beth has held community mural workshops and given artist talks in libraries, independent living facilities, colleges, and churches in Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Mississippi. She returned to teach in the high school art classroom in 2018. While still maintaining an abbreviated personal practice, Amy-Beth has mainly focused her energy in education since, fostering life-long curiosity and creativity in Memphis youth. In the spare moments when she’s not teaching or art-making, Amy-Beth enjoys walking by the river with good friends and learning new modes of self-expression.
