@slcRN19714 жыл бұрын
@@3912James : that sure explains why it didn’t last!! Too bad they didn’t change their time slot, so that it was not on at the same time. The TV show was certainly better than the movie where they went to England. It must have had a very low budget, it’s pretty awful. That doomed it for sure. EDIT: that movie had a terrible make-up department because the color of Herman was fine, but why in the world did they have Lilly, Grandpa and even Eddie with green faces!!! Geesh, worse looking vampire make-up ever, plus why would Eddie have a green face (and normal color hands) when he’s a werewolf!??

Fred Gwynn had a really tough time with the make up and costume. It really was an ordeal for him to work under the stage lights.
@MrMartyO13 жыл бұрын
Was that why the show ended? Don't know, but the whole cast and crew and music was great. If Fred Gwynn had left well I can see how that might have put a damper on production. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill. Who else could make Leo Durocher laugh and cry on cue! I heard they even made a movie with Granpa Al Lewis and Carolyn Jones and I think Butch played Eddie. I've heard about it but can't find it. I don't care what the critics say, I'll bet it's a classic.@@richardm3023

The Addams Family show was good too. The only problem is that they went too far with the devil jokes. It still is a bit much. They later fixed that in reboots of the show and it has done well. Another thing that ended the show was that it depended on the monster fad of the 1950s. It was like the Chuck Norris, Ninja, and zombie fads now. By the 1960s, the monster fad started to fizzle out.

Technically, Taggert was the truant officer. Children's services, which is a STATE agency and not under control of boards of education actually began in 1899. Child protective services would never throw a kid out of school. They may recommend a different KIND of school but they would not get expelled completely. Truant officers are still around. The school district in my town has one. Once their job was mostly to catch kids who skipped school. But now, ours mostly concerns himself with catching families of kids who live in another town but send heir kids to our district because its a burden on the taxpayers.
