@@TheMuscleCarModeler - yeah man, I hear ya! I know it’s a plain shame that those old kits are getting kinda hard to find and when & if you do , then the people want an arm and a leg for them ( and mainly the Johan kits) ! I got on eBay after watching your video here, just to check out the Johan models and lord have mercy the prices some of those fellas want for them, man! I saw one of the 66’ Marlin kits and golly they wanted like 500 and something bucks for it, actually people were still bidding on it and it was already over 500 bucks! That’s just too rich for my blood! I saw one old Johan kit, I don’t remember what car it was but it was way up over 1500 bucks. Jesus!!

Thanks for that it’s interesting to see, you certainly got value for your $2 back then with four different ways to build. Pity virtually none of Jo-Han’s tooling survived, they always got their bodies very accurate.
@TheMuscleCarModeler4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! They look great built even though the detail is not that great when it comes to the interior and chassis.
@animalyze71203 жыл бұрын
Not so much, Jo-Han had some perks AMT, MPC or Revell didn't and vice versa. Back then these were primarily for kids to build though by 68-69 Dads and Uncles were in on it so these 3 in 1 kits and the customizing kits became more popular. These days Jo-Han are over priced kits due to the ol Rose tinted glasses syndrome and really aren't worth the cost if over $60-$70 but still nice to have as a look back. Watch out for sealed kits of any vintage brand, those tires chewing window glass and body panels was a real thing which is why sealed kits aren't really desired as there's no indication of the damage until opened. I have 6 kits from Jo-Han that I have to fill and sand panels and 3 that had ruined glass, these days at those prices I prefer opened good condition kits over sealed crap.

Yeah, that’s what I’d like to see would be the reissued JoHan kits because they would be so cool to build as well as enjoy creating some pretty interesting variations kit bashing them with other parts or even something way different from what you usually saw
@TheMuscleCarModeler4 жыл бұрын
I wish the molds still existed but they are long gone. Would love to see a new tool but I don’t think Fiat or whomever owns the AMC rights is willing to work with the modeling company’s with licensing. Fiat didn’t seam to be a player and now they just merged with someone else to creat another company so who knows what will happen.

Thanks for sharing, enjoyed that. That's a very nice example and that Logghe funny car chassis was supposedly very accurate at the time. Don't you just love vintage plastic! I have a 71 I think it is, probably a very common one it's the one with the yellow car on the box.
@TheMuscleCarModeler4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! The yellow box, if I'm thinking of the correct one, is supposed to be a 72 but sometimes has a 73 body in the box.
@MrModelworx4 жыл бұрын
@@TheMuscleCarModeler That's interesting do you know how to tell between a 72 and 73?.
@CycolacFan4 жыл бұрын
@@MrModelworx I forget which way round is which but the differences include the dated licence plate being blurred out on the box art of later issues, and on the body the taillight / taillight panel was changed and the T-top style roof lines being present or not in the roof.

Thar Gold/Copper Javelin is beautiful! one of my personal faves of your builds so far...and 1:1 for my taste the Donahue better looking than a BOSS Mustang or T/A Challenger... good news for me it will cost me less to buy my dream car..... but no bias... AMC should not be overlooked.... we do not have many Muscle cars come up for sale in the UK...but when an AMX comes up for sale it is always less than a good Mustang notch back small block.... I know what i would rather own!

Don’t worry about it. I have been getting that my whole life. Growing up in AZ and many assume I’m Spanish and I’m not. Others look right at me and say “your white?” Like it is a big surprise to me. All I know is I don’t really fit a stereo type and that is fine with me.
