Everytime I watch their video of Karate, it always feels like it's the first time I've heard and seen it. Those white figures with skull masks were there former selves (self-doubt). They were fighting themselves all along.

Their music, the messages and the way they are presenting all of it are so incredibly uplifting and empowering, it's phenomenal. I'm not a person that's easily showing passion for anything, but these girls and their band have absolutely taken me under their spell. Discovering them is simply the best thing that has happened in my life.

Good reaction - this song is about fighting adversity. When you've been knocked down, you're crying and everything seems too hard its about helping each other to stand and to fight on. Moving on when times get hard, never to give up. They used karate to illustrate this as it is a Japanese martial art and it has no backward moves. The figures in white were revealed to be the girls when the masks shattered - they had been conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against.

Great reaction! A little background; although Su-metal (lead singer) & Moametal (vocals & dance) are only 22 & 20 years old respectively, they have been with the group from the start, & BABYMETAL will celebrate their 10th anniversary this fall. BABYMETAL has won over 35 International awards, has been on the covers of music industry magazines (REVOLVER, METAL HAMMER, ROLLING STONE), & has a passionate, dedicated, & engaged fanbase, a.k.a. "THE ONE". Their band, the KAMI band (KAMI can mean divine beings, spirits, gods) are some of the best musicians in Japan, & often dress in traditional Japanese burial robes & "ghost" makeup. Their lyrics can be poppy, silly, & fun; however, most are positive, inspirational, & uplifting, & inspire tens of thousands of young fans. Also, their work ethic is beyond reproach. And NO ONE can control a crowd like these young ladies. Check out videos from Tokyo Dome in 2016, where they sold out back-to-back dates with 55,000 fans in attendance each night! BABYMETAL'S best work is definitely done LIVE. That said, the official music video of "KARATE" is probably 1 of the few exceptions to the rule. Check out: Rondo of Nightmare (with Mischiefs of Gods Intro) Live @ Budokan Black Night kzbin.info/www/bejne/boildZyCgrONmac 🦊🤘

We spend a large part of our life battling those that we think oppose us. This goes on until we find our unique gifts. Once we find our own strength and learn to help each other, we learn we have only been battling ourselves. That's what I get from the video.

Amen Brother! You've got a deep understanding deep inside of your soul. I'm German and this is as relatable here as it is in each other country and society worldwide. I personally hope, that you can spread that message, whether it was given to you by God or your inner self. Go and make people empower themselves, so they can be their absolute best, without putting others down. I wish you well in your future endeavors and I like your mindset. Peace and love to you!

⚡ 💀 💕 / 👻 👻 👻 And… that's why this was the featured single from the second album. : ) They made a lot of friends among other metal groups by playing a bunch of festival dates, and this song converted quite a few. Like a lot of BABYMETAL songs, this one has a positive message about facing life's challenges. BTW, for BABYMETAL, it's a fox sign, not a devil's horns. So the middle and ring fingers are extended and touch the extended thumb. You can see this pretty clearly when they raise their hands near the end of the video.

I agree with your assessment. Whoever is producing mixing engineering and recording Babymetal are very good at their jobs. The band and the production deserve a lot of credit as well as the three singers.

Excellent reaction, glad you liked it. A couple notes...the hand sign they do differs from the normal rock symbol. It has the pads of the middle and ring fingers on the pad of the thumb. Also, you were bowing at the end so you missed it but after the masks break you can see the reflection of each of the girls in one of the white robed figures.

"Karate" premiered at Yokohama Arena on December 12, 2015. Directed by Daisuke Ninomiya, the music video for "Karate" was released on 18 March 2016. Moa Metal explained that the lyrics are about never giving up and always moving forward, no matter what difficulties need to be endured. Furthermore, Yui Metal described how the dance moves were made to help express the message of the song, as most of the lyrics were in Japanese. Moa Metal expressed that "Karate" is her favorite song, explaining how "karate has a courtesy: "Start with a bow and end with a bow." This is something important we value in our lives, because we never forget courtesy and a feeling of gratitude wherever we go." Su Metal described the white figures in the video as representing their former selves, expressing the desire to break down barriers by fighting themselves to move forward. Moa Metal added that "karate is obviously a form of martial arts that originated from Japan, so it’s something that she’s very proud of that they are now representing this culture that came from Japan through their music, and it’s a way for more people outside of Japan also to learn what karate is all about."

what I figured, asian disciplines are I feel more holistic in nature, almost every martial art or self defense has also some philosophical or mental aspect to it. Not only train your body, but also the mind. This "wholeness" in concepts, whether that is food, education, taking care of yourself, mentally and physically, but also other people, has been a little bit lost in western societies.

"Be strong. Get up even when beaten up" is a message in "Karate". But that catching a fly part, that means that you can be kind at the same time. That's how I understand their "Karate". One thing, Japanese don't thank the way you do although Thai people do it in that way.

Imagine, a "gimmicky" group in the Metal scene. A genre famous for its restraint and total lack of theatrics. LOL.
@herrbraun48754 жыл бұрын
Well, then it just wasn't meant for your ears. Can't blame you, even though I really like them. If the chance occurs for you, why don't you pick up an instrument and create your own sound, the way you want music to sound? I would be interested to hear that as well and I promise not to hate on you even if I shouldn't like your sound. Since I heard them and other artists, I'm curious myself, if I could produce a sound I like and others as well. Why not give it a try? Bless you and have a good day anyways, even if you heard something you didn't dig that much!
@Grington3004 жыл бұрын
Why do you want to take music seriously, if its fun and its good let yourself go and enjoy it. It's a shame you can't see past whatever it is you see as being gimmicky. Listen to the music, it is all quality and you're limiting yourself and missing out. If you don't like the music or singing or whatever that's fair enough - I can't see how there is any possible reason to "absolutely hate" them.
@TheLeomarti4 жыл бұрын
Too gimmicky for you, fair enough, that's your rightful opinion. On the other hand, too stupid, that's an objectively wrong assertion.
