That actually wasn't the guitar. It was the bass with that growl. Tim Commerford is one of my favorite bass players.

Tim Commerford and John Myung both have bass tone that SLAPS in the mix and sounds like warmed up garbage when it's isolated. That's the sign of pure musicality. It's not just an arranged piece in the background. It becomes an integral part of the mix.

Hey Mike, the part you were talking about was just the bass. He throws on a drive pedal and I think a wah too. The only layered guitar parts I know in the song are some muted string chica type things, but what you were pointing out was my man Tim on bass.

The parts with the wah peddle is bass that is also using distortion and an octave pedal.Timmy C, he has some of the best hooks, tone and use of pedals to maxim what a bass can do. There’s a video on KZbin where he goes down his rig and it’s insane all the different mods he’s done.

If you love Tom Morello and Tim Commerford's guitar work, then you should check out Prophets Of Rage. They're an extension of Rage's work, mixed in with Public Enemy and Cypress Hill. I'd highly recommend reacting to their songs "Hail To The Chief" and "Unfuck The World", especially since Rage are reuniting in 2021. Thanks and keep up the awesome work.

Never seen somebody play an instrument jammin with the band they reacting to. Obviously some technical work to figure out but I think it is definitely a cool idea. Would also help you copyright wise, as when you play an instrument along with them NOBODY can argue that the material is not "transformative in nature".

The machine is the government
@ANunes063 жыл бұрын
Think bigger. The machine transcends governments. Modern governments are products of the machine. Corporate power is a product of the machine. Prisons are products of the machine. War is a product of the machine. Poverty is a product of the machine. The machine is Capitalism. Also, fun fact, Zack made a joke at one point when answering this question implying that "The machine" in question was his 1979 Chevrolet touring van. “That piece of [expletive] was always breaking down,” De La Rocha allegedly said. “I can’t tell you how many times that van broke down back in 1991 when we were starting out, how many gigs we lost because it would quit working.” He continued: “We called that monstrosity every name you can think of and even invented a few new words. When we finally made enough money to buy a new van to house our equipment, the first thing we all did was take sledgehammers and beat the [expletive] out of that thing.” "The Government" works as a decent shorthand though. "American Government" specifically ends up being their main focus, anyway.
