*Watch this BEFORE You Buy a Laptop!* 00:00 - 🎥 This video continues from a previous one about buying PCs, now focusing on laptops to help avoid common mistakes. 00:33 - 🛒 Without knowledge about laptops, it’s easy to buy a model that looks good but doesn’t perform as expected and costs more than necessary. 01:50 - 🔍 Basic knowledge about components like processors, graphics cards, and RAM is crucial to avoid overpaying. 02:02 - 💻 Desktop PCs are generally more powerful and cost-effective compared to laptops due to the engineering costs of laptop components. 02:30 - 🏷 Determine the main purpose of the laptop: gaming, high-performance tasks like 3D modeling and video editing, or general use with long battery life. 03:43 - ⚙ Graphics cards are important for performance in tasks like gaming and rendering, with Nvidia cards recommended for their efficiency in rendering. 04:39 - 🖥 Processors with letters like “U” and “Y” indicate lower power consumption and less performance, while “H” is better for intensive tasks like gaming and 3D modeling. 07:16 - 📈 To compare processor performance, look for benchmarks and rankings, such as those from Cinebench R23. 10:04 - 💳 Nvidia graphics cards, especially RTX series, are preferred for gaming and rendering due to their advanced technology like ray tracing and DLSS. 11:21 - 🌟 Look for laptops with high refresh rate screens (120Hz or above) for smoother visuals in gaming and improved general performance. 12:11 - 🔋 Battery life is crucial; look for laptops with at least 6-8 hours of battery life for general use and longer if possible for better portability. 13:10 - 💼 Consider the build quality and durability, especially if you need a laptop for travel or heavy use. A robust build can save money on repairs in the long run. 14:05 - 🎛 Storage is essential. SSDs (Solid State Drives) are faster and more reliable than HDDs (Hard Disk Drives), and having enough storage for your needs is crucial. 15:00 - 📐 Portability and weight are important if you plan to carry the laptop frequently. Lighter models are easier to transport but may have trade-offs in performance. 16:10 - 🧩 Ensure the laptop has good cooling mechanisms to prevent overheating, which can affect performance and longevity. Look for reviews or specifications that highlight cooling efficiency.

I have only ever owned an iPad and Samsung tablet but would recommend getting a Samsung due to affordability, screen technology, ease-of-use and speakers (I own a Samsung S7 tablet). Since I also have a Samsung phone (bought one this year) I also noticed that they both sync really lovely. With all of that said I believe you could probably buy almost any tablet on the market today and have a nice experience. Just compare the screens, speakers and battery life since those will be your main factors when deciding.

I forgot to mention that Samsung also include a pen with their tablets which is actually really neat. I use mine daily but thought I'd never, or very rarely, use it. this is a very detailed preference on how an editor chooses their laptop. Although, as a player, I wanted to add my preferences : 1) Air vents; Mine for example has only two small fans under victus 15 with fake vents, so I cant force more airflow on the other parts of laptop using external cooling pad compared to other laptops (tuf, nitro, etc.) 2) Usb ports; Having 2 usb ports on Victus 15 makes it limited to connect more devices at the same time. Though external usb port can be used, most of them delays my games transfer speed from external ssd. 3) Search for the laptops problem online; I've initially discovered the laptop hinge is wobbly and being hated for its fragility. though I hv np at it at all personally and depending on other laptops, there might be other issues with it. 4) Refresh rate; The higher the better, 144hz is good enough for most of the games (It is mentioned in the video but I would rather say its more important than ram and ssd since they're upgradable) 5) Ram and SSD this might be a bit tricky but its not a must to buy laptops with more capacity. you would cut more costs upgrading the laptop yourselves most of the time and get better value for money based on my experience.

Wow, I was researching for a month on which laptop to buy and all those videos I came across were so detailed to the point it was hard for someone like me who don't understand it in depth to understand. This 16 mins video was all I need, thanks buddy👍

As someone who's a laptop gamer & everyday enjoyer. This man is 100% right. Basic knowledge before purchase: CPU - Used for activities other than gaming (Video editing, work, loading times, etc) GPU - Used specifically for gaming, it can help out with work to do with software. (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Davinci, Etc) RAM - Higher the RAM the faster your computer can load stuff. 16-32 RAM is recommended for gaming & video editing. VRAM - This is the amount of RAM in your GPU that it can use. The more it has the higher FPS you can get. SSD - This is your storage. 512GB is enough for work. 1TB is enough for gaming. Hz - This is your computer refresh rate. The higher this is the smoother your screen will be. 60hz is good for work, 144hz is recommended for gaming. The average RTX laptop has 4GB VRAM. Some can get about 6GB VRAM.

Before watching this, I pretty much new most nothing (except weight and physical dimensions) about all the different specifications within a particular model laptop. In just a few minutes after having watched this video, I was able to learn much more about the numerous technical specs. that I now feel more comfortable about what to look for and what to buy. Thanks Mysterious Tech!

@Arjun44598 Awww, some1 got triggered 🤭🤭🤭. Your whole argument is that NVIDIA is anti consumer, no computer knowledge needed to spot an idiot. AMD is a better value for money, making it suitable for gamers on a budget. Both are gud Cards in their own right. Anyone who sees 👀 this comment avoid making a fool of urself like some1 👆. I have the Alienware x17 R2 with the RTX 3080ti, the i9-12900hk, and 32Gb of ram. I produced music, play games, and use software like Davinci Resolve and unreal engine. Considering the price, it definitely passes the line of diminishing returns but the good thing is that it’s a no compromise laptop able to handle whatever you throw at it.

How about thermals? Any problems there?
@SykoreMusic Жыл бұрын
@@Πέτρος-μ3ω no it hits it’s thermal limit of 99 degrees on the cpu and hovers right under the thermal limit of 85 on the gpu. Laptops are designed to hit thermal limits so it isn’t worrying me. It doesn’t throttle it’s clock speeds back so it seems to be tuned well. Definitely isn’t comfortable to use on your lap tho. It’s more of a portable desktop replacer.

I think it's also important to highlight the fact that some rendering suites prefer AMD hardware over Nvidia (the Autodesk suite for engineers comes to mind, although this is a niche so Nvidia cards should be fine. Just thought to let you know)

You can have both in the same notebook. AMD Ryzen 7 + Nvidia RTX3050, for example, works perfectly. The temperature of the AMD's processors is way lower than intels. Recently I do some gaming tests, and the temperature mantained stable in 58°C ~ 70°C in the processor and 55°C and 64°C in the GPU. When the the question is about processors, I always go for the AMD without doubt
