on the bolts usually the handle bit is screwed in so you can unscrew it and slide it in from the bed side then rescrew the handle piece back in

Morning James I am doing the same as yourself fitting a 40ft steel boat out for cutting the trims get yourself a table saw you will be amazed how many jobs you can do on them. However keep your fingers away from the bit that bites. Still watching from the day you first went looking for a boat. Great vids keep it up Chris

James - tilt the shelf up at the edge furthest from the bed - introduce the bolt into the hole and feed in it. flattening the shelf behind it as you go. Obviously you will need to do both bolts at the same time!

I would have put the bolt slider under the bed, no more shelf problem

Why not feed the bolt in from under the bed into the shelf? That way its easy accessable& you could have put some in place for them not to move.

@@BellaTrix0707 OMG why didn’t I think of that !!!!!! Sometimes you guys tell me something that leaves me gobsmaked that I didn’t think of that myself !! You have just made that happen so thank you - although I’ll now have to remake the shelf if I change it which I’m not happy about as it’s all glued in !! Maybe for the other side

James - I commented below re the bolts and then saw an Idea further down so have re-though my suggestion. If you put the shelf just above where the bolts go through then the shelf will hide the bolts entirely; an added benefit would be that the whole thing would be much sturdier because with the shelf screwed down this would help counter the upward pressure on that end of the bolt even more.

Fit the bolts from under the bunk into the cupboard uprights. Then you won't have to empty the cupboard/shelf every time!

The cupboard is looking great. Have you considered the push to unlock catches. This would negate the need for handles and separate catches.

My five pen'orth again on behalf of the littly on top bunk 😊 I don't want to p*** on your strawberries, because you're doing an amazing job! However, have you sat her up there and seen how she will get something out of that open shelf? wish you had put openings on both sides, then the light could have acted as a bedside light. 😊

Thanks for the shoutout James. Personally, i would have put a spacer under that shelf that has bolts through to bed and doubled up on front edging. Then your shelf could sit on bits you have had to cover with leather inside and bolts would have been accessed from below shelf. Congratulations to winner, he will probably let you keep sloe as home and use it once a year for himself 😊. Maybe rent it out during times too. Toodle-pip 😊

Why not fit the bolt to the bed frame? The bolt then slides into the hole in the cupboard frame.

He lives near the Ohio River so it could go. I googled it and it can be shipped approx £7,000 per tonne so that’s around £90,000 to get it to the west coast, then haulage 1000 miles East would be around £2,000 so all in all….lots

The more you finesse the insides of a blooming cupboard, the more frustrated I get ... What about sorting out the major things like the bathroom, bedroom etc first and then come back and do all the little pretty things? The winner of Sloe Patrol may just decide to sell it on quickly ... which would make you homeless until you sort out the new boat?

Isn't there a reserve price on the lottery? If you don't sell enough tickets, you simply pay out the accumulated money minus the lottery fees?

Can't help feeling deflated that someone from overseas has won Sloe Patrol. Would have been great to have seen someone here desperate for a home to have had some luck....I mean , what the heck is someone from Kentucky gonna do with it , not your fault James but dissapointing none the less.....this isnt sour grapes , I already have my own boat and didnt enter.

I know what you mean - I had a list of people I knew of who would have loved this boat for a fiver to call home. Obviously he’ll have to keep it here but I’m not sure yet what the future is.
