They did a really good job of keeping you guys on the outside. When you guys did get in tight to the net you had success. So ide say thats where you guys will win games. And stop trying to make everything so pretty. Your first goal speaks to that. Going hard to the net and got a good bounce. Trying to snipe everything clearly isnt getting it done. Also ide say you guys really need to do a better job of supporting Laner. This guy is single handedly keeping you in games. Go hard on D, keep all your opponents scoring chances to the outside and clean up the rebounds and you guys will start winning more regularly.

nasher plays a part in that tbh. his forechecking often leaves his defense on an island. i dont expect him to be a two way player but there is too much selling out for the 50/50 takeaway on offense where skating back seems to be the better decision. wasn't in the rink on 3-4 and 3-5 where especially when the game was still tied you can't let yourself open for a 1v2 on defense that easily.

@Nahser, just a thought here - seeing lots of instances where you're coming down the left wing with another Columbus Heat forward either joining you straight down the middle or in the far slot, but every time you're taking an unscreened high wrist near side, and it doesn't challenge the goalie who's on the near post and already set, square to you, taking away your angles. If you don't have a passing lane, maybe establish low far shots off the pads, possibly as a slap shot that needs to get kicked out and becomes a potential rebound to your linemate? All of the wristers go high / wide and either bounce off the glass or carom back along the corners and don't stay down low near their net. Do this a bunch of times and the goalie has keep this in mind...then you can fake that low far shot, catch the goalie cheating back the other way and that's when you opt to pick the near side top corner?
