I had healthy strong nails all my life. Until I got my first gel nails. I didn’t know what to expect since it’s my first time but the gel removal was painful and eventually my nails got so thin I was not able to use my hands. It was hurting like crazy. And i couldn’t fix it for a year. (Tried so many things)Then I watched this video and did everything she said. Only after 3 weeks my natural nail is coming back to life. I can’t describe how happy I am! I guess the solution is keeping it simple and be patient. I’ve used so many products for like “strong nails” but they didn’t do anything

Whenever I ask nail ladies at the salon if acrylics or gel is damaging to the nails, they always go “no no don’t worry, no damage” etc. Then when I come back with my damaged nails they just say I have naturally too weak nails and then they try to sell me their pricey nail strenghteners that don’t even work, they just peel off after a day Thank you so much for the simplicity, gonna stick to these tips!

It has been a habit for many years that when you go to the nail shop they’ll tell you anything you want to hear just so we can get your nails done and get you out of there. It is very unfortunate but it has become the norm and has been that way since I was in middle school and that was a long time ago LOL

This is exactly what I say to technicians about my naturally delicate nails! This is how I take care of them so, it’s good to know that I’m doing it right. I get so angry when technicians seem less knowledgeable and hurt my nails. It happens sometimes and then I have to get really on top of them as they’re working to curb some damage. I would trust someone like you with my nails!

I’ve always said that it’s not the product that damages your nail but improper prep and product removal! Even though I know this, I’m a DIY hobbyist and have done some damage to my nails due to lack of experience… however, if I know I’ve done some damage, I will cut my nails right down and give them time to heal. Thank you for these great, simple tips! I’ve subscribed and will certainly start watching more of your videos. 👍🏻

I spent the last year learning how to properly manicure and apply regular nail polish, also learning about all the different acrylic products (and gel is acrylic), and the potential problems...it has been a journey. I've started doing my own gel color now, over rubber gel base. I'm very pleased with the longevity, durability, and the health and length of my own nails that I've been able to maintain. That said, it took hours and hours of reading and listening and questioning those in the know, not to mention the hours and hours of getting competent on both hands with regular polish. Acrylic products are risky. You risk sensitization or allergies, localized irritation, potential infections from lifting product etc. You need to be able to safely dispose of the dust even, or members of your household can have problems. I wholeheartedly agree with just taking the time to get your nails healthy, and then either try to find a good tech or learn to do them yourself safely, it can be done. I use an e file to lift color only. The rubber base gives my nails protection from my inexperience. Once the color is gone, I soak the base off, aquaphor makes a good protectant for the skin during soaking, and a heating pads helps speed up the process. Once all of that is gone, the nails get shaped, cuticle removed and nail folds pushed back, and my nails and skin get an oil treatment. So much of that I picked up just doing manicures for regular polish. Anyway, we are far better off taking the time to learn to do things well and safely than relying on questionable techs.

You are definitely right! Unfortunately most professionals that you see to get manicures are not doing the right thing and it’s been happening for so long everyone is used to it and have accepted this subpar service. People are definitely much better off learning how to take care of their nails themselves in most cases I’m so happy you took control of that and it definitely looks like you know what you are doing you’ve got the hang of it! And I’ve actually never used the rubber base I’ve been hearing about it but I’ll be digging into that and testing it out to see exactly how beneficial it is compared to a regular basecoat that video will be coming soon! Thanks for watching and I do hope more information is shared that can help you and your nail health!

Good tips. I recently took my acrylics off. So damaging to the nails. I have had dip powder too. I got dip powder because I asked the technician if it was better for the nail then acrylics. She said yes and doesn't damage. That was a lie. Dip powder just as damaging. I mean it's a chemical and unsanitary. Your dipping your finger in it. When done, the technician probably put the unused portion back and use for the next client. Gross. I also wonder how often they sanitize the tools. So I am learning to care for my own nails
@TheNaturalNailGuru

Dip is an acrylic. And to be honest what really sucks is that the product itself isn’t really what’s causing the damage it’s the people that are prepping your nail for the product that’s where most of the damage occurs. That and the removal most people are not patient enough to remove it properly so they end up ripping the product after nail. I was very dissatisfied with nail technicians even 20 years ago and nothing has changed it was 100% what caused me to start doing my own nails because I was tired of paying for a service that was damaging my nails and honestly not even a clean Polishing job. Doing your own nails can take some patience but definitely rewarding and saves you a lot of money LOL. I have so many more videos coming that can really help you mastering your own nails definitely stay tuned and I hope I can help! Thank you so much for your viewership

@@TheNaturalNailGuru yeah the good ones are hard to find. I don’t know any good techs who like dip systems. Prep is so important and so many just dig in with the e file. I don’t even use it for that part. And as for removal, I cringe when I see “hacks” that just rip it off.

What a nail saver!! my nails had become incredibly thin and the nail plate very tender after months of experimenting with at home gel manicures. I think my issue has started due to improper use of an e file (completely my own fault!). I bit the bullet and chopped off all the growth yesterday and was feeling really sad that I'd ruined my nails but you've given me so much hope! Thank you 🥰

Promise you your nails can return back to optimal health but you need to make sure that you are not bringing any more damage to the nail plate. Do not file your nail plate whether it’s an electric file or a hand file. Keep the nails short and rounded as they grow out because they will be soft and we need all of the weak nail to be gone. And make sure you are pushing your cuticle back on a regular basis it will promote growth and health!

Patience is everything. Considering the damage your nails have right now keep them short and at least around it around the edges if not completely around. And push your cuticle back regularly literally every time you’re in the shower push them back that’s going to promote quicker nail growth. Once you have all of that week mail grown out you will definitely notice the difference in your stronger nails and you can keep them a little bit longer but I would still maintain the edges around it never sharp because they’ll be more prone to breaking. So much more content regarding the proper care for your nails is coming and it’s definitely going to help you! Thank you so much for your viewership!

Hey! I bartend too and for me at least I was using semi cured gel stickers to grow out my nail. It kept my nails protected and they last 2 weeks. Just don’t buff your nail before applying the stickers. If all you want is to make it look presentable then regular nails stickers work just as well. I know that the video said to keep it bare but as you know with bartending we use our fingers a lot so my nail’s free edge kept breaking without the protection.

I just got my acrylics off and my daily routine is Sally Hansen cuticle massage cream to push my cuticles back and moisturize my nails, followed by Ella+Mila lavender oil (not sponsored). And I use enough oil for both my nails and my hands in general. I do this morning and night and I have seen a huge difference. Also I make sure I have NATURAL moisturizing lotion for after I wash my hands, as water dries out your nails and makes them weak. Also, look for natural nail polishes and removers, rather than typical ones that have chemicals and can dry out your nail and/or cause more damage.

Hey, just a tip if you're practicing on your nails. If you want to practice and remove, meaning you're not keeping the nails on, put some cuticle oil on your nails, put 2-3 coats of gel polish on your nails (base, gel, coloured) and then you can go in with your acrylic/polygel/hard gel. When you are finished, you can use a cuticle pusher to gently lift the practice nail from the cuticle and pop them off without damage. If you have any trouble getting them off, put more cuticle oil so it gets under the enhancement and will come off easily. You can also do this before trying to lift off the practice nail to save you time and trouble. Also, DO NOT prep your nails before. Do not buff the shine off your nails, no filing, no primer etc. If you prep you nails, your enhancement will need to be soaked or filed off. However, if you follow the instructions, you won't have damage when you take off the practice nails.

Thank you for sharing your tips. Sadly the only time I ever had natural long nails was when I was pregnant with my son, probably because all prenatal vitamins and supplements helped. I' have chronic anemia so even in a natural state my nails are very thin it doesn't help that I'm rough with hands especially when I type so they break constantly. I just wanted to share I've had acrylic nails consistently for almost 26yrs and I've never had any issues because when it comes to nail care i treat them as if they are natural. Would love to know to know Tati if you agree. The first person who did my nails have me that tip. Because i was hesitant to get them done but i had a wedding to go to and my nails looked horrible. She showed me how to do my own manicure and she gave me a professional manicure set as a gift i still use to this day. Told me to wear gloves when preparing food especially when cutting meat, chicken etc. Washing dishes or using cleaning products. I went to her for 10 yrs until she had move away. Like Tati she also told me to be cautious of salons if the tech does not want to respect your requests then move on. I do give my nails a break every now and patiently let them grow out but what Tati said is true if a tech knows how to properly use an efile and they know how to properly remove the acrylic your nails should not end up paper thin.

Makes me so happy to hear that coming from a professional! There are definitely proper ways of using any file but it takes a lot of care attention in the right tools and that’s just to ensure minimal damage but in the end when it comes to natural nail health they are always working against it even in the slightest ways. I know that is not a popular opinion but in my experience it is a fact. Good old fashion elbow grease takes time but every single one of the clients to come through my chair and noticed the difference their nails are healthier stronger and longer than they’ve ever had them. I have so much information to share and I promise all of it works towards helping you improve your natural nail health no matter what conditions they currently are or have always been 😉

One needs a lot of patience and knowledge to care for one’s own nails until they are healthy. Amazing lady, not in it for the money. 25 years of acrylic and Gel, nails completely damaged and ruined. After using the local Chinese in my town, they got more aggressive using there tools. It burned under the lamps, but they said my nails were weak. Thanks to them! A new English lady was recommended to me, I thought brilliant she could fix them for me as seemed to understand nail care and damage, and was using hema free products. My nails were actually lifting off the nail bed, she told me I had psoriasis under the nail. She rebuilt my nails, with acrylic, cut old nail away. They kept breaking and she got annoyed about fixing them. So I told her I was going to have a break and let them heal. I wanted about 3 weeks to heal and make appointment with her for Christmas as I said they were very sore. She told me she had no appointment for Christmas. She didn’t offer to remove the acrylic. I went to a Chinese shop to get it removed they soaked it off and told me to use tree oil for 6 weeks. To be honest I am not going to have them done again, I am hoping the will grow natural and be health that’s what would make me happy now. I have found you can’t trust anyone, they want to be fast with there tools and even English use them now. Thank you for your video as now I know what to do as for the cuticles.

I have 100% success in rehabilitating my clients nails regardless of the damage by just making sure that we are taking care of it properly and not bringing any more damage to the nail plate. Pushing back the cuticle is essential and keep them short and rounded as the week nail is growing out you will notice when your nails are stronger at the tip and can start leaving a little bit of length but always make sure your edges are rounded even if you prefer the square shape. 😉

Currently going throught the same thing! I purchased the rocket nail fuel system and I'm on week 3 and what a HUGE difference in my nail strength and appearance. However like you said Patience is the key. I'm struggling because I want to do my nails so bad even just apply dip powder on my natural nails but I know I have to stay persistent with the system. I was told it takes 8-10 weeks for a full nail growth cycle. I'm hoping after the 10 weeks I will have enough growth to dip on my natural nail :)

Patience is key! And it is very important that moving forward you make sure not to bring any damage to your nail plate! Make sure your nail prep is good not too much filing or buffing on the nail and make sure the removal is done properly you never want to file down to your nail plate. I hope you get continued results in the meantime keep pushing your cuticle back and round out the edges of your nail super square nails tend to be weaker and break more often! I’ve done a couple videos talking about caring for your nails so if you haven’t checked them out definitely do it could help reinforce what you are doing with Rocket fuel 🤘🏼

I started doing the polygel application myself a few years ago. The dual forms always raised up before I could cure the nail so I stopped using it. It's taken a long time to get better at it. Now my nails don't look alien. 👍🏼 But the gel won't stay on my nails. After about a week I see lifting and they sometimes pop off. Now I have discovered that my nails are green underneath the nail. The nail beds are so damaged. Thank you for this video. DIY polygel nails are not for me. I believe in anything I can do naturally to heal my nails.

I don't understand how this is not blowing up on KZbin. I have been on my nail journey for a month, and I've been doing this. As someone who has PCOS, this 100% works. The only things I would add are that I like to put 100% pure Vitamin E oil on my cuticles as well as Use a rubber base to protect my natural nail from breakage.

Does cuticle oil help with clearing the cuticle when you push back or does it make the skin softer? I’m trying to grow out the damage so this is very helpful! My nails are growing quickly but then as time goes by they’re breaking occasionally so I think keeping them shorter for some time will be so beneficial. Thank you ✨
@TheNaturalNailGuru

Using cuticle oil regularly is great to keep the area moist and it can definitely help and softening to make it easier to push back although doing it right after the shower is always the best. And yes keeping them short and rounded until you start feeling stronger nail at the tip of your nail very important to make sure not to impose any new damage onto the nail plate no filing the nail plate no peeling off any product!

Hi, I am pretty new to your channel. I love your channel. I am a natural nail girl. I have gonr to a technician for years. Then I got tired of how my nails looked when the tips came off. I wasva nail bitter. When i get nervous or my anxiety goes up i would bit my nails. That's why i would get my nails done. Then i couldn't afford to go get them done. I started to take care of my nails on my own. Watching videos and trying new things. I tried the press on nails with a brush on glue. That was a mistake. I stopped doing any of that. I started doing the natural nail care. My nails are long and beautiful. I keep a bass coat and I keep polish along with avtop coat on. It protects my nails from my job. I have bern wanting to do this as a career. Did you go to beaty collage to do nails? The beauty schhool I am looking into teaches everything. That's fine, but I would like to do mostly natural nails like you do. What is your advice on this? In my state you are required to have a license to do nails. Would I be wasting my money doing this?

I thank you so much for rhis video because my nail plate is completely damgaged. As she was doing my nails, I only went for a gel manicure for my natural nails, and as she was using the file it hurt and she was hurining so bad. I kept telling her but she acted she didn't understand what I was saying. I kept moving my hand away. I asked for a get manicurre when I went into the salon and I noticed that she didn't use all of the DND products either. She didn't use the base, only the color DND, and she did use the last step which is the shine part polish. She never used a lamp for my nails. I WAS SO AGGREVATED AND MAD after I got home and saw my nails. I did ask her while she was doing my nails if she was going to use the lamp..., bu like I said, the B acted like she didn't understand or comprehend ENGLISH. My nails bed/plate is so damaged after this. I have a long natural nail bed and I always get compliments on my natural nails that's why I never get acrylics. The fiirst time I went there all of the nail techs were coming over to where I was sitiing at just starring, sepeaking in their language. After they left, the older lady that was doing my nails told me that they said I have beutiful nails. OK, THANK YOU, BUT WHY DID YOUR ASSOCIATES F AND DESTROY THE BEAUTIFUL NAILS THAT THAT THEY WERE COMPLIMENTING? Were they hating to destroy my nails? I have watched your video and I thank you so much. Because I have been hanging on to the little length that I have. I was combing my hair Thursday morning and OMG, the longest nail that I had on my 8 fingers was the left pointer finger. All of a sudden I fetl pain. That MFR BROKE DOWN TO THE MEAT. THAT IS THE WORST PAIN EVER. I'm typing on my desktop very careful and it is still in pain. Again, I thank you for this video because I did not know what to do. I am also glad you mentoned to not using the wood cuticle thingys because I have those and I have been using those before this happened. I am glad you said use a spoon or something metal. WILL DO. I also have SALLY HANSEN INSTANT CUTICLE REMOVER, that I have been using. Not gonna use that anymore and gonna follow your directions and do it the old school way. With wet handss and my metal spon. Very honest and helpful. My nails are typically thin and right now are thrashed from acrylic/ gel overlay. My nails hate that Emile and no matter how many times I tell them to only use it lightly they smile say ok and completely ignore my request. Is it ok to use cuticle remover? Some say to keep a clear coat of acrylic by dipping finger into acrylic then lightly buff and apply top coat and cure to help protect them while growing them out. My hands are in water quite a but. Sounds like you do not agree.

Hi! I definitely don’t believe anyone should use an e-file to prep the actual nail plate but that is just a personal opinion with darn good reason 😉 And the damage on your nail plate unfortunately its more due to the poor manicure process rather than the actual product 😣 although you can definitely have product on your nails while improving the health it all comes down to making sure the mani rocess benefits your nail health. Unfortunately in most circumstances we are used to our nails being damaged because of the manis we get …. And for this reason I would definitely say keep product off …you take care of your nails yourself. Keep your nails short and rounded. At least rounded edges. And push your cuticle back every day that you get out of the shower. You definitely don’t want to bring any more damage to your nails plate while healing them. just doing these basic things yourself will show improvement and you can see the biggest difference is probably by the third month it will take time so be patient it will improve! Def check out my natural products (cuticle repair balm and cuticle repair oil ) it’s 100% natural and helpful in nourishing nails the oil is extra good to promote growth… the balm is awesome for dry, cracked, hard cuticle. But you do not need any product to heal your nails. If you’d like to check out my product they did a video on it not too long ago and you can search it here oh-my-natural-products.myshopify.com/ Thank you! And stay tuned I have so much more to share

I have thin, weak nails so I like using polygel. I used it for well over half a year on the regular without issue, but I switched to tips because they were so easy, but wow I messed up - I kept using full-cover tips that were too small, and it wrecked my nails. Totally operator error on that. I have wide, long nail beds so I should have just stuck with polygel. :( I started seeing small lines and then I took the tip off and was shocked to see it had somewhat malformed the nail bed. After that, they wouldn't support anything else. It was also cramping the free edge and made the tips super weak. Decided to give my nails a hard break and let them grow out. I have no chill, so it's been really difficult to be patient, but almost a month into it and they are finally looking good. I'm using warm oil and keeping the tips short, plus using OPI Repair Mode and they are starting to look shiny again and feel stronger. My pinkie and thumb nails were actually severely damaged so the whole nail needs to grow out. I'm making myself some press-on nails to wear for special occasions, but otherwise they are just free.

Following your steps and hoping that it works! Question: you said that it’s ok to do a gel polish while going through this process. I have the Beetles kit at home. How is the UV light not damaging while going through this healing process?
@TheNaturalNailGuru
@TheNaturalNailGuru 2 жыл бұрын
The UV light does not damage your nails. The only concern there could possibly be for UV light is exposure to UV however it is so minimal that putting your hands in a UV light is no different than standing outside in the sun for 15 minutes. And anyone that is truly concerned or has a medical condition that makes them sensitive to UV lights all you need to do is apply sunblock on your hand 30 minutes before getting your nails done. Now the gel curing lamps these days are mostly LED lights which is even safer because they have minimal UV in it but every single type of artificial light has UV. Thank you for subscribing! I promise you my method works I have 100% success it just takes patience and making sure that you were not bringing any more damage to your nail plate. Definitely stay tuned I have so much more to share
