I honestly loved the kind of chaotic nature of it all, and I feel like the way it sprawls and goes all over the place works in its favour. But I'm already so enamoured with Hudmo that I can totally see that approach coming off as feeling bloated and unfocussed. Either way I think it's his best full album yet though, I think, and I'm lad to see he's still evolving, and that he's never afraid to take risks and get weird

I really thought the tone was pretty consistent. Like yea, on paper, all the different genres shouldn’t work well together, but I thought sonically it felt like one big experience. The ambient pieces sound connected to the hip hop beats and the electronic dance stuff. It doesn’t really flow from song to song, but the songs have enough momentum and sense of pace to keep u engaged. 8/10

I agree with you completely I think a 6 on this out of all records is harsh id argue next to Swedish house mafia it’s one of the best electronic albums that’s came out of the whole year
@popdanish49692 жыл бұрын
@@eaAngelmusic yea, I feel like in comparison to his other solo projects, and TNGHT, this album is the most adventurous. It really stands out as it’s own thing in terms of sound too. It’s so big and lavish and colorful. It scratches all your itches without sounding too all over the place. It’s catchy, visceral, and absurd. But what I think ties it together is how emotive it is. Almost every song feels like it has purpose. Feel like he used the different formats and genres as vessels to express certain feelings, instead of just throwing different genres together for the sake of it, as I think Anthony implies.

I really loved this album and it's one of my favorite wonky electronic albums in a while. I think it's way more cohesive than you let on, the mood switchups don't feel chaotic or like whiplash to me, they feel to me more like, idk, the highs and lows of day to day life or something. I really did not mind or feel it was on shuffle. And Is It Supposed is one of my favorite tracks of the year,I can't stop dancing when it's on, sorry you just think it's menu screen music

Honestly noticed it because of the cover art lol I think things being all over the place is some of the point and I’m sure you realise that, saying it’s too much is fair tbh, but I think there is a tone here partially based around that messiness. I think it’s a good album, but not great, it could be tightened a lot and hit better climaxes. It was pretty good to mellow out to and the best songs were great.

Anyone who doesn't give this at least an 8 out of 10 just has no business talking about my baby boy Mohawke. Just because you can't make out the pattern in the "chaos" doesn't mean it isn't there. It just means you're not evolved enough to follow along.
@itsmesnacks2 жыл бұрын
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Cbat by Hudson Mohawke. The symbolism is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of music theory most of the musical beauty will go over a typical listener’s head. There’s also Mohawke’s adept satirism, which is deftly woven into his composition- his musical style draws heavily from early-20th-century Dadaistic art, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these musical choices, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Cbat truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Cbat’s captivating hook, “Doot. doot doot, doot, doot doot doot, doot” which itself is a cryptic reference to Duchamp’s famous artwork L.H.O.O.Q. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as HudMo’s genius wit unfolds itself on their headphones. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a HudMo tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
