LizardBrain from what I'm getting people are rating it 1/3rd or 1/4th of a good album. Saying there's 33.33...% or 25% of tracks on the double album that's good. (Meaning, no one's saying half of this album is good.) Now that speaks volumes.

The sad thing is, Drake doesn't have to be focused or have a clear direction. The direction he is on took him to 700,00 albums sold the first week and 333,000 albums sold the second week. There is no financial incentive for him to produce quality.

I think that hasmore to do with his marketing strategy. Also, hip hop is based on respect not sales. Granted, sales are important but thats not always gonna get you the love of the people. Imo drake sells albums because white people recognize him and relate to him easier than they can to other artist. Plus, you know, the whole pandering thing he does.

@@RamMohammadJosephKaur for one, the song nice for what and the keke one is pandering to the vapid, self obsessed women of our time by saying empty, basic, simp shit over catchy beats, pandering to atlanta audience with songs like mob ties, im upset, the pandering to carribean audience with tracks off his last shit, hoppin on any and every new wave to get in with that audience. I get that it helps him sell but it also makes him look like a man without an identity and his albums have gotten worse and worse because of this. It sells but it just isnt good anymore because its all over the place.

@Escobar600_
@Escobar600_ 6 жыл бұрын
It is. Sandra's Rose has that classic boom bap sound and actually goes hard. One of Premo's better beats in recent years. Definitely better than any of that alternative sounding bullshit on KSG.
@zombie6653
@zombie6653 6 жыл бұрын
Ok? And Andre 3k produced Fire and Mos Def hopped on the title track of KSG.
@Escobar600_
@Escobar600_ 6 жыл бұрын
So? The album is that weak hybrid hip hop shit. Andre on a track ain't a surprise since OutKast has always messed with that non-hip hop sound. Some songs on Side A of Scorpion has that pure hip hop sound. So you can't really fault people if they actually like pure hip hop and prefer Scorpion over KSG.
@zombie6653
@zombie6653 6 жыл бұрын
"Some songs on Side A". You forgot the entire other side of the album that's filled with slow pop-rap. You're talking about Scorpion having pure hip hop like DAYTONA by Pusha T doesn't do it better. DAYTONA and KSG are more polished, cohesive, and have better background meanings than Scorpion. Also, I didn't think there was a problem with artists using unique styles. I actually find those kind of albums more interesting than just consistent boom-bap. To each his own I guess.
@Escobar600_
@Escobar600_ 6 жыл бұрын
Exactly which is why I said "Some songs on Side A". I don't fuck with Scorpion all the way thru. But that album has EASILY the best hip hop stuff I've heard all year. Like I said it's preference. If you like hybrid hip hop stuff you'll prefer what Kanye produced this year. If you like a pure hip hop sound then Scorpion is the better project. And Daytona to me sounds like some deep house bullshit. I don't really fuck with that especially when Kanye's drums are usually weak as hell.

You know it really speaks to how unstoppable Drake actually is that not only is he just about the only star to be relevant the entire 2010s, but he puts out like 4 mediocre albums in a row and gets destroyed by Pusha and still gets a number 1 every time he drops. Laugh Now Cry Later, Wants & Needs and Toosie Slide are forgettable at best and still chart for months at a time. It's absurd, and as someone who does like Drake I really wish he'd flop for a bit so he gets hungry again and stops putting out boring shit because he knows he could fart on a track and still have it go number 1 with basic bitches going "oh bruh this my shit"

Sauce Coxsak 1983 Michael was great in my opinion, some iconic songs and concerts were done around/in that year. Even if this wasn't MJ best moment and the recording technology wasn't excellent, there's no excuse for the autotune and manipulation of the audio. When I first heard the song I had to check if the featuring artist was Michael and not The Weeknd. It was THAT bad. What a shame, this song could have been way better.

It kind of sucks that J Cole and Drake have just decided to not go anywhere musically anymore. They both have established sounds and they don't seem to be leaving that sound and venturing on to uncharted territory any time soon, and for me that sucks. It makes me appreciate artists that stay interesting by taking risks and trying new things like Kanye and Kendrick

J. Cole tried his hardest to try something new in 4 your eyes only and KOD. But it seems his fans loved it the most rather than the people trying to like J. Cole. Like most people say his Fans make him seem like a God in rap and even though I'm a huge fan of J. Cole I can say he isn't. Kendrick, Kanye, Pusha T, and Joyner Lucas doing a better job in Rap with interesting lyrics and absolutely fucking god like Beats. J. Cole is a GOOD rapper. But with the others I just listed it's no wonder why people call him average. And this is coming from a huge fan of J. Cole. I even own all his CD'S and mixtaps. J. Cole is amazing for me and his fans. But he's just an above average - Good Rapper to others.
@cheerfuljuan
@cheerfuljuan 6 жыл бұрын
Lyrically Cole did change, you're right. At a certain point he stopped making albums about himself and started making albums about social issues. But I'm talking about musically. And musically, Cole's sound hasn't changed. It's still just jazz piano over a trap beat. And Drake's music is still just spacey ambience over some trap beats. Some people are okay with their artists staying the same sonically, but me personally I like for my artists to try different sounds and experiment with different genres like Kendrick and Kanye. That's just me tho
