@@gian9762 I think he's basically describing the most holy and pure thing to the least holy and pure thing. I thought of the line like he is describing a spectrum, where on one side there is the concept of god which is often seen as a perfect being. In the middle there is man who is naturally corrupt and flawed. And then there is him, a lost cause who is at the other far end of the spectrum. He's basically putting himself below both of those concepts which kind of makes him sound like an extreme outcast. No one understands the concept of him because he is neither a god nor man.-Hope this helps! But it's really how you perceive it! I love to write songs myself so this is what I got from the line as a lyric writer!

Hypothesis about the meaning of the song: I think he is trying to "compare" or refer to the band as if it were a family and he was the father. Saying that he exchanges fancy or fun things for more serious things would represent the responsibility that comes with being in a successful band and how he changed from just hanging out to taking it seriously. When he says that time has passed to the lightspeed he means how quickly things have changed for the band, they are a band that have been together for many years and technically it is as if time passes in the blink of an eye. In the chorus when he says that we don't know the half and that he would like to see how we try, he can refer to how difficult it must be to keep the band always in agreement and at a sufficient point of success to "resist." When he talks about staying cool like Iced Tea he talks about constantly trying to innovate to stay current and liked by his fans and obviously to keep the band's flame alive. Maybe when he says that he stays together for the children, they mean that the band has gradually separated but they are still together for their children (their fans). I also read in Genius that Devil's Advocate means a person who likes to create controversy and / or debates and maybe they mention the theory that the band separates that exists 2 years ago approximately for that very reason, that we look for a meaning and the song It was created specifically for us to have discussions about what they refer to.
