What a blessing it is to hear this lineup of the gold city quartet. It was this group that caused me to fall in love with quartet singing alongside the singing rambos. What impeccable harmonies and immaculate stage presence. Such feeling of love with all the performers on this stage. Must have had a blast singing together after all that time apart.

First time I ever heard " When I Get Carried Away" I instantly thought of my husband. He loved Jesus so much, but he was very quiet, shy, didn't talk a lot. He had a hard time expressing himself every time he tried to testify, & would just start crying. I knew the day would come when he could finally say & show it all. When God took him home one of my first thoughts was about this song.

What a blessing to find this video of the reunion of these four great gospel singers! When I was a new Christian in the 80s I saw them twice in concert. About the time they split up things happened in my life that left me in the two most discouraging decades of my life, without the joy of the Lord. Listening to THESE Gold City singers has been one of the few activities that's given me any joy in the Lord over the last 20 years. Maybe this is a sign of God bringing victory in my life again!

This is the Gold City that I listened to back in the late 80's to mid 90.'s.....working in a hospital laboratory, doing the lab work and listening to their great voices, together and separately, they cannot be beat!!!!! It made for an easier shift!!

This lineup was the first Southern Gospel Quartet I heard after being away from Gospel Music for many years. I think it speaks volumes to the fact that each member of this lineup has gone on to have very successful SG groups or solo careers. As great as this lineup was, I never thought there'd be another as good. But, like The Gaither Vocal Band, they keep reinventing themselves with great talent and communicators through music. They'll always have a favorite place in my heart.

You picked the perfect man to sing that song. I was born and raised a Catholic and had recently been saved, and I had just been introduced to gospel singing. I was on my way to work when I first heard Midnight Cry, but the dj never mentioned who sang the song. After hearing the song several times, I finally found out it was Gold City. I had never heard of Gold City before, but I knew I had to find the record or tape with the song on it. I subsequently found a cassette tape of Gold City with that song on it, and I played that song over and over again for several months every chance I got. That song is one of my favorite gospel songs, and Ivan Parker has been one of my favorite gospel singers ever since the first time I heard it. I can’t imagine anyone else singing the song better than Ivan. Thanks so much for the song and introducing me to Ivan Parker. God bless you.

They came to our little Church in Savannah, Ga with this lineup and as a child I became a fan of Southern Gospel quartet music. 1985 or 86 I was in second grade or so. Had been raised on Souther Gospel music but my parents didn't have a lot of money and we did not have a lot music, just a few tapes we had dubbed from some friends. A southern Airman visited the our church, and since he was from the South and a Christian I asked if he liked Southern Gospel. Well he did, and asked if I knew Gold City, but I did not. He told me if I brought him some blank tapes he would copy some for me. Well, that changed my life. 30 years later I am still listening to Live and Double Take like it was the first time.
