There's little doubt that Abuja, Nigeria, and Cape Town, South Africa, stand out among African cities when it comes to city planning, development, and organization. Other attractive and well-planned towns in Africa are Nairobi and Addis Ababa, to name a few.
However, for this video, we will use these four different metrics for comparing Abuja and Cape Town. Infrastructure, geography, tourism, and cost of living. We would consider the overall beauty of these cities too.

@@thabisomaila8095 I'm not sure this comparison makes sense. Sandton city is actually a district in Johannesburg Metroplex and you're comparing with an entire Metroplex of its own. We all know that South Africa cities such as Cape town, Johannesburg (certain parts not all), Durban and Pretoria are all great places. Thanks to the very obvious presence of Westerners in the country since Colonial times. But comparing a district of a city with another. I'm not sure that's right. But if you will, then I think canary wharf in London is nicer than any South African city structurally. And Malibu CA blows all of Africa totally

Abuja has one of the most advanced, most developed, and most sophisticated road networks not only in Nigeria but in Africa. The fact that there is traffic congestion doesn't mean the city doesn't have standard road network or infrastructure. The reason for the traffic congestion is because Abuja has so many cars. You can see that all the roads leading to and out of the city centre are around eight to ten lanes with many flyovers which are of high standard any where in the world, yet there is traffic congestion. And the traffic congestion doesn't occur always. It usually occurs in the mornings and evenings when people are going to work in the city centre and returning from work respectively. The reason is because Abuja has so many cars that's why in spite of the metro train transport system within the city one still observes traffic congestion within the afore mentioned periods. The same goes for the city of Lagos. These two cities are places where the population of cars compete with human population.
@JLDReactions
@JLDReactions Жыл бұрын
Having an advanced road network isn't always necessarily a good thing. A city that is too car-oriented tends to lack culture and substance. Abuja should be focusing on public transportation if it wants to be a considered a world class city.

Can we please not compare african countries with each other, it creates hatred and unnecessary competition. we should be focusing on how to build our economies as a continent, not competing against each other. How can we do real business with each other and share skills and help each other in building an africa we can all be proud of? Our governments are already discussing this on a macro level, but we can discuss this as individuals and as small and medium enterprises. It has light train within the city and even SGR connecting to other cities. Cape Town doesnt have light trains 3. Luxurious Mansions = 50/50 4. High Rise/Skyscrapers = Cape Town leads here. @@thabisomaila8095 I agree with you on the part where the age of the city alone is not a determinant. Even within Nigeria, the best developed cities are not always the oldest. But I disagree with you on the age of Toronto. It's not as young as you said. It was settled since the 1700s and formerly incorporated as Toronto in 1834. The issue with Nigerian cities and some others around Western Africa is the high rate of rural urban drift Which oftentimes outpaces pace of infrastructural development before different districts become habited. So you end up with a situation where there's a big gap in quality of development between affluent areas, middle class Neighbourhoods and low income homes. this you'll find in just about every city including national Capitals across West, central and east Africa

Look, there's no comparison between Cape Town (South Africa) with Abuja (Nigeria) because, Cape Town has been there forever, and should be better than what it is today than Abuja that had just started in late 80's. Remember that the capital city of Nigeria was moved from Lagos state to Abuja, and Cape Town was not moved from any where. As the capital city, the British settled in cape Town and made it what it is today, whereas, Abuja was a mess, and where Hausa people settled with there goats, cows and many other livestock. Again, Nigeria has faced severe economic barter due to the leaders looting and stealing the country's finances for ages, and you don't expect a country with such history to do well, but Nigeria is doing great, regardless of all the short comings. They just need great and serious minded leaders who fights for the people and the country like we have here in the United States Of America.

I'm not a Nigerian, I'm a US Citizen, but history shows that Nigerian leaders, both previous and present have engaged in looting and stealing billions of dollars and naira from Nigeria for ages. Based on statistics in 2007 during Obasanjo regime, Nigeria was estimated to almost equal to America 🇺🇸 in economy greatness, and urban development, but since Buhari took office, that estimate flew throw the window. Nigeria is heavily blessed with GOD'S natural given resources, but has greatly been mismanaged by your leaders who selfish, evil and mentally poor.
