I first found Chris on KZbin long before the berrics thing back when he used to do his trick challenges. as a skater who loves some good flat ground those were always fun to watch and he was damn good at it too. Never really saw him as a "KZbin skater" like some of those other ones, just a skater who's also on KZbin.
@retrodaniel282 жыл бұрын
I think the first video of his I saw was 7 skate tips something like that where he’s like hot glue your laces, carry water etc. And then I saw his unboxing vids where I thought were cool and then his like when you’re late to school or something. His videos are sick. Genuinely and great guy

I'm an older skater, from the era of vhs skate vids, Transworld mag, etc. I enjoy Chann and John Hill, as they show the fun mentality around skating. Fuck this KZbin vs "core" shit. We're all playing with a toy.

As a fellow Bones Brigade Future Primative fan I hear you and MOSTLY agree.... But, my only discrepancy would be WHY didn't they delve into the SKATING side as much as of making a theological, "This is why I chose U Tube over skating" episode.... All I All cool episodes
@ksteneide22 жыл бұрын
A skateboard may be a toy, but so is a football, a basketball, a baseball, etc and look how serious athletes and fans take those sports - Much more serious than skateboarding. You literally have grown men losing their sanity while watching the Super Bowl (over a toy). Good for Chris for finding his niche in a tough industry. It’s not my thing, but it doesn’t need to be. Nothing but respect to him. Glad he came on and told his story.

Chris is definitely the reason I started KZbin & getting back into skating harder after I broke my ankle in college. I had to walk through that dark cave where you gotta figure out life - (after skateboarding) ... Chris is a talented skater but he's not IN THE STREETS as much as he could be. That's the reality of it. He's talented but I think even he would agree that he prioritized his own happiness with KZbin than he did putting in blood, sweat, and tears into street skating.
@b.w.222 жыл бұрын
@@moegerms - Yes, this exactly. I think you’re right and that’s what I think he was driving at when talking about his genesis on KZbin or whatever. It seems like he made a conscious choice to pursue other things than the pretty rigid pipeline to “success” in skating that existed prior to, say, 2010? He’s super talented, but so much has to go right to become successful at pro skating beyond just talent, especially in the past when real success seems like it was gatekept by the team managers at the different sponsors and board companies. And honestly, being an OG figure in creating that kind of social media skater lane is more noteworthy to me, even if “skating” still values certain benchmarks more.
