SUCH a difference between "needing" to get sober and actually WANTING to. It definitely took me years to go from needing to wanting to. Then it all changed. BEST decision ever. Props to Jason for being rigorously honest and vulnerable about such personal issues. Great attitude and very positive dude, in general. And of course, a GREAT skater.

His part in label kills was the first part I ever saw. It still sticks with me. And you can see his style seeping back into skating nowadays which I think is the coolest development in the gen z skate world

I remember when Bag of Suck came out, I was in middle school and a couple years into skating, and Enjoi was coming to Sayreville NJ for a demo. Jay Adam’s came through and shredded the hardest while being everywhere with every kid, including myself getting a photo and encouragement to continue skating. Dude was a professional as it gets that day and I’ll always remember

It's so great to hear from someone relatable & honest! I've been here, and tbh I'm still swapping substance for substance... Literally everything he's saying is absolute truth! Any youth's out there, don't even start using anything! Even drinking on the weekend, or a cheeky little..😳.. Just have fun with your own personality! Don't ever start getting messed up to fit in, be more fun, or confident, happy, brave, fearless, etc, etc.... Nothing is more important or interesting than the real you! No matter how much you think you're more fun & confident when buzzed... trust me, nobody else is agreeing with you!!

This episode was fantastic. That section where y'all talked about inspiring people to skate...100% spot on. The Lance Mountain Nine Club episode was the reason I got back into skating and watching Jason Adams got me so hyped on curbs and just skating as an older dude. And yeah, because of all that I am skating with my kids and trying to pass on that joy. Props

Early mid 2000s I saw Jason and Tony T on a Vans trip I think it was. I was blown away watching them in person. They definitely made you remember the 70s and 80s style of skateboarding. They had the style flow and aggression from those eras that you did not see at the time. Jasons a classic original stylemaster

Just want to add this, benzo (Xanax) withdrawals can kill you as well. Benzo's are also used to treat alcohol withdrawals. Be sure to be under medical supervision while detoxing from either of them.
@WoodPusher18

This is true as I personally was addicted for 4-5 years , decided to get sober 3 months back cold turkey, definitely don't suggest doing color turkey but it's better than continuing on and not having motivation to skate, best three months I've had on my board out of the last 4 years and I don't plan on returning to that stuff ever again💪
@OutwestPanAndProspect
@OutwestPanAndProspect Жыл бұрын
@@WoodPusher18 Glad you are doing well now. I just wanted to say NO to quitting benzo's or alcohol cold turkey. It is dangerous as fuck. If someone is having severe alcohol withdrawals and calls 911 they will tell you to drink beer or whatever other alcohol on hand until the ambulance shows up. Personally I almost died twice from alcohol withdrawals. The first time was while under medical supervision in a detox facility, the second I was home alone. I fortunately had the knowledge to put some Xanax under my tongue and chug beer until help arrived.
