@doclime47922 жыл бұрын
It's him comparing himself to the level he was at. Which was one of the best skaters around. I watched his parts in high school and he changed a lot of the way people skate nowadays. To go from a major influence on everybody and their brother to not being able to be that guy was understandably deveadting because he had worked so hard. That being said no one stays at the top forever and I think he handled his injury well but now I think it's better that he's opening up to skating again even if it's not at the level he was at.
@honestbuiltperformance18192 жыл бұрын
@@doclime4792 he invented one or two tricks, and landed multiple combinations no one had ever attempted before as far as like switch kickflip bs smith switch tre out etc, he was one of the best street skaters of our generation. its fucking awesome to see he can still skate even if its just flat.

I can fuckin relate. Skateboarding was my love for 15 years and then the shitstorm began when I developed bipolar disorder. Like a very heavy version of it. In the depression phase I literally have no energy to do anything. And then the manic phase is just too much to concentrate on skating. Not to mention I Gained like 50 pounds due to the meds. I try skating here and there but the exhaustion comes instantly. It fuckin sucks that I stopped skating. I never wanted to stop. :( don’t take skating for granted my dudes. Do it while you can, put your heart into it and enjoy it. Because for whatever reason it can go away. And it’s really sad.
@carolynberge29193 жыл бұрын
Give yourself time, my dude. I'm Bipolar I too and know first hand that it can take years to find a path through. I still have bad depressions and unfortunate manic cycles, but I've mostly learned how to make my way on the daily. Keep some hope in your heart for skating. I was an armchair skate nerd for years, with no hopes of ever actually getting on a board. Finally last spring, during the worst of the Covid winter, a touch of mixed state led me to say fuck it, and at age 45, in the worst shape of my life, I bought myself my first board and never looked back. I'll never be brilliant, but when I'm crawling the walls and pissed at the world, I can now grab my board and go lose myself in trying to progress. And that is EVERYTHING to me. Skateboarding will always be there waiting for you, whenever you come to a place where you can start again. And I truly believe that time will come. Keep your head up, brother. Better days are still coming
@JeffHeil-rh4ph3 жыл бұрын
For real it doesn't matter if your not the skater you once were, injury,aging, retirement is all a natural part of skating, wether Mike Mo or Mark Suiciu skating at that high of a level always brings forth a very serious potential for career ending injury session after session. You climbed that mountain, already conquered the world of skating at one point and just having you back as a part of skateboarding as an elder statesman or ambassador of sorts is fucking the raddest thing ever, I'm a 41 year old heroin junkie and you have motivated me to get clean and start skating again, you made me realize that I don't have to do big sets of stairs, rails, super insane tech to enjoy it, just being able to still roll around and bust some flat ground and skate small curbs is just as rewarding to me as what accomplishments I achieved when I was younger. I was never sponsored or even close but I could kick flip most and set of stairs up to 6 that I came across and could do about any flip trick variation there is and was considered damn good in the town I grew up in, let's say at my peak I climbed to the top of a sleding hill, well you climbed K2 backwards and blindfolded, I'm sure you got some damn good memories and I wish I could reminisce about how damn good it felt to do and land some of the iconic tricks you have done, skateboarding needs you like a duck needs water so Keep on the journey your on and keep these nine club appearances up

6:45 this is exactly why Pilates is HUGE for anyone that needs muscle control. whether it be boarding, dancing, drumming, running, climbing.. whatever it is, pilates gives you so much core strength and fine muscle control all whilst using muscles you never you even had. ignore that "that's a karen's/soccer mom's exercise" outlook folks have on pilates, because it will drastically increase your own body control. and btw, it's fucking difficult as hell.
