A set of reels (in "practice tempo") on the tenor banjo. Accompanied by me with an Irish Bouzouki. I've been meaning to learn these properly for some years already..

Nice steady pace. I have heard this played too fast and it loses the haunting nature of the first tune in particular.

Great Scottish tune played on the Irish banjo and played brilliantly, Tarbolton lodge is Robert Burns Masonic lodge and this fiddle tune commemorates Burns link with Tarbolton lodge in Ayrshire.

Love your playing, and I have learned a lot from you. Thank you! Learned Tarbolton Reel by ear from this video, and fiddle along with it a lot...I also fiddle along with Toss the Feathers/Gravel Walks and the entire Old Hag You Have Killed Me Bothy Band set. So, your tune settings will be a part of the sessions around here... :-)

Tarbolton is excellent. Probably the best version I've found on KZbin. The slower temp brings out the beauty of the song. BTW, what model of banjo are you playing in this video? Is that a fiber skin head?
@NiiloSirola4 жыл бұрын
Salvatore Rotondo Thanks! The banjo is Pilgrim Celtic Dawn Model 2. The head seems to be Remo Weatherking, don’t know what it’s made of though

Hi there, would you have a link to the tabs for the longford collector and the sailors bonnet? Learning from your videos, thanks a lot!
@NiiloSirola8 жыл бұрын
+Katie Laverty Sorry no, it seems I don't have those ones written out. The Session has some a couple of different settings (thesession.org/tunes/563, thesession.org/tunes/570) but they are not exactly like the ones I (re)learnt by ear from a session tape.
@jamieukulele5 жыл бұрын
Hi there, any chance you can email me an mp3 of the backing track?

I really like your style of playing and wonder if you have the banjo tabs for these 3 reels as try a I do I cannot quite get them from sheet music and my hearing is not the best.
@anthonyokeeffe51964 жыл бұрын
All these tunes are on TunePal, if you look for the versions transcribed by Henrik Norbeck I find these tend to be the best versions

What is the tuning of the banjo? Sorry I am just about to start with the instrument so have no idea :(
@NiiloSirola8 жыл бұрын
+Neeraj K It's GDAE so it's the same tuning as violin or mandolin but an octave lower.
