Adam is actually a lot stronger now than he was in the flashback scene with him fighting with Sienna. Yes, that was Ruby's semblance. We saw her do the same thing with Nora in the first chapter of volume 4, but it may have evolved a bit since then. Yes Mike the Alpha Gimm is a sphinx/chimera grimm...the rest of them are Mantacore Grimm....Qrow was telling dum dum that though the turrets were keeping them meaning our main cast alive on top of the train that the turrets were leading the Grimm towards the passengers....to be honest I think leaving the turrets on make more sense but whatever. Blake saw Adam without his mask on. I think of it was a ptsd thing she would have seen him with his mask. She wouldn't know that he isn't wearing it anymore. Yes, Juane's semblance is the ability to amplify people's auras. He is not a healer.

An easy way to keep track of aura vs semblance: Your aura is your Halo shields that also give you health regen Your semblance is your My Hero Quirk Using your semblance drains your aura in the same way that taking hits will.

Regarding Ruby's semblance, we've seen her sooort-of carry Penny in Volume 2 and we saw her carry Nora in Volume 4. The V4 Character Short introduced an evolution of her semblance that I don't think we've seen in the main series yet, which is the ability to Petal Burst to the opposite side of an enemy by splitting into three smaller Petal Bursts that all go around the enemy. Regarding the purpose of the Adam short, the devil is in the details. You're on the right track about the short showcasing Adam's progression in his radical behavior. However, I think the most important details are at the very beginning and the very end, essentially the "framing" of the short. The short begins with a group of what seem to be somewhat early days White Fang, struggling with a task (dust robbery) that they seem perfectly skilled at by the time V1 starts. Adam appears and he puts on his mask for seemingly the first time, as his associates seemed to have never seen it before. The scene ends with Adam saying, "It's time we got what we deserved," as they proceed to rob the facility. The short ends with Adam preparing to leave for the attack on Haven Academy, and he says, "It's time I got what I deserved," and then it cuts to a shot of Adam walking past the camera, his mask falling off. On the surface, the two lines of dialogue indicate that Adam has progressed from a "we" mentality to an "I" mentality. However, the I think the mask is even more important: I think it signifies that Adam never had a "we" mentality in the first place. He was always the person we see at the end of the short. He hid his true perspective and desires behind a "mask," and became more radical only (and revealed more of himself) as fast as the power structure at the time allowed. His mask falls off at the end of the short as he fully reveals who he is. That's my take on it, anyway.

The kunai is the name for the knife portion, when it is attached to a rope/chain it becomes a Rope-Dart. Just the chain with no blade is called a Chain-Whip, and when the blade at the end is a Kama instead of a Kunai it is called a Kusarigama The rope dart and chain whip come from Chinese Kung Fu and Wushu, whilst the Kusarigama comes from Japan Also the large beast on the train is based on a Chimera while the smaller ones are based on Manticores 😁

Fun Facts Adam Character Short Fact 1: A large part of the short takes place before the aftermath of the Battle of Haven, as indicated by Adam's Beacon Arc outfit and his time as a White Fang member. Fact 2: As noted at the beginning of the short, Adam was the first to don the mask that has become common in the White Fang, implying that he was the one who inspired the current White Fang to wear Grimm masks. Fact 3: Sienna Khan's return in the "Volume 6 Adam Character Short" was hinted at by Kerry Shawcross in the Volume 5 Directors Commentary. Fact 4: Sienna was added to the short to give her more screen time as she was a well received character and lot of people were disappointed by her death. Episode 1 Fact 1: A clip from the episode was released on IGN two days before the episode's debut. Fact 2: During production the animators took out the blood at the White Fang Headquarters, but had to add it back in later. Fact 3: The lids of the boba cups in the background of the train station depict the RWBY Chibi characters. Fact 4: Monty Oum's famous "Spiral" fight from Red Vs. A lot of people seem to miss several things this character short implies, a big thing to remember is that Siena Khan took over the white fang 5 years before season 1 and Adam looks the same back then, Blake would have been 11 or 12 when Adam was her fathers guard so he's at least 5 years older than Blake probably more, hence why she calls him a mentor also he uses her parents against her when she confronts him showing the manipulation and abuse he puts her through regularly. He's not physically abusive in the beginning he's emotionally abusive. He puts on fronts for others to see him in a certain light so he can pursue his revenge against humanity.

I call it the Sienna short; we get to see more of her, when we just see more of the same Adam. Still bugs me that she's introduced and killed in the same frickin' scene... After seeing how well armed the ship to Menagerie was, it's no surprise that that trains are, too. The turrets were drawing the grimm to the passenger cars, which just increases their fear and makes them more of a target. Was Weiss always supposed to skate across her glyphs, or is that a recent idea? This is one of my favourite volume openers, finally returning the focus of the show from the ensemble to the titular characters... mostly.
