Yes quite a bit of time has passed between episode 45 and this episode, and yes Ed is now taller than Winry. As for not having flashbacks, just think about how many other anime like showing all of the filler and overextended "training" scenes. FMAB decided to just get right to the good stuff, which I really appreciate. Plus it's cool because these characters haven't been in contact with each other for months so as the audience you get to experience that too.

fun fact that if you watch the series over again you'll notice that Ed actually does grow between the episodes. The first scenes, the fight with Scar, the big fight with Gluttony in the stomach, Briggs, and this scene. They slowly changed the animation and he's actually growing and bulking up. One of the reasons this show is one of my favorite.

The not hugging thing is primarily because of Japanese culture. Not necessarily about building the will-they-won't-day tension. From a couple google searches, it turns out Japan is not big on public show of affection. Maybe it's their generally conservative nature, the cultural concept of personal space, the Japanese pre-relationship/relationship norms, or a little bit of all of them and other cultural nuances.

It's also why kissing, while a thing that DOES happen, isn't overly frequent in anime; when you watch Japanese media it, you need to look for different signs of emotional connectivity than what Western culture inures in you to expect. It's probably one of the reasons that shipping for instance is read differently on a cultural level, leading to differing expectations of how romance would play out.

that scene in at 14:07 is an homage to one of the filler episodes in the original full metal anime (the same episode where the youngest Armstrong was introduced) where on of mustangs men said he saw the haunted Hanger 13, so mustang had to go out there with everyone to prove it isnt real. they found out he mistook hanger B as Hanger 13 (look at the picture to see how) but then mustang found bones (supposedly human) buried in the plot of land next to hanger 12. so they spent the whole night digging up the plot to find more bones, only to find out next morning that Hawkeye's dog buries his bones there

In case you Normies haven't realized it by now, light will NOT save you from Pride. In fact, Pride needs light to cast shadows in order for him to move around. It's that old stereotypical dichotomy where light and dark cannot exist without the other.

Just to add to this, Greed defines the act of greed as "want(ing) something they don't have" and argues that it is not necessarily good or bad. It doesn't have to be excessive, or be stuff like power or money. The act of wanting something, be it comfort food, love, wanting to pass that exam, wanting Ed to man up and face the threat head on with confidence, or wanting to save the world, is an act of greed. Any ambition, desire, dream or goal is an act of greed. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. In a way he is defining the core of his own being, and saying that he himself is not necessarily a bad/evil person.

Pride CAN go outside Central City and the tunnel. It's just that he can just show up as a disembodied shadow out of nowhere in Central and the tunnel, because I guess those places are "connected" in a sense and the tunnel itself works as the container. Outside Central and tunnel he needs his "container" (Selim's body) to function as his base and has to extend from there.

Case in point, is it greedy for Ed and Al to desperately want their bodies back? Is it greedy for Ling to want to become Emperor? Don't be saying that kind of shit like it was Episode 9 and we were saying goodbye to Hughes Could've explained it, but then where's the drama in that? Not war, military demonstration Father sent Gluttony to track and Pride to subdue, all while Bradley watches over the main bulk of military force and Sloth remains to protect Father Mustang still trying to get rid off all those flowers Navi may recognize General Hakuro as the man during 03's train attack, he lost a piece of his ear. Hakuro in the manga likes to find moments to demean and belittle Mustang's rank, so in this moment it's quite cathartic that he was duped It wasn't a double double cross but it was a double double dupe of the double double variety And Team Mustang has reunited for the Promised Day! There was that credits montage showing what they were doing Marketa, you showed it on the video as well Careful Father, the last person who grabbed her like that lost his arm He was walking around when Ed and Al first met them, and he had to get to Amestris from Xerxes some way 16 episodes and 48 hours for all shit to go down ...or just Selim whose shadows loomed in on Al to capture him Ed and Al have no way to learn Alkahestry, Ling doesn't know it and May's not around

I know it is tougher to get hold of the original FMA series, but upon review myself I am even more convinced that skipping ahead to FMAB first misses the heart of the Elric Brothers and the people around them. From comments by a lot of people who have tried, there seems to be no going back afterward either. FMAB Babies struggle to enjoy FMA. Sad but what can you do?

When I first saw how much ed had grown (which I saw when he was the same height as her and shorter too) I was thinking, “yooooo he’s buff asf! Better not be anyone calling him a chibi anymore. I hope Winry asks him when he got so tall”. But then what happened? Well that didn’t. She didn’t even have to make his automail bigger. I like the scenes of Ed and Winry in this episode, but tbh I prefer Ed small and in his cloak. He didn’t get smaller, but that’s why I really like the build up to the ed in that one epsiode where he finally puts his cloak back on. That ed is hype to begin with. Btw I just realized ed and Ed are the same so this might be a bit confusing to read. Just know that ed is ending and Ed is Edward. Now it’s time for my Daily Dub bitching. Today I’m talking about the FMAB dub. Winry sounds so soft and Ed sounds like Obito. Al definitely has a child VA, which is not bad but he just sounds a bit off. I can’t put my finger on it. Scar sounds all wrong, I can’t point out anything specific about that either. The Fuhrer President or however you spell that, doesn’t sound sharp at all. He sounds like an old man that’s wilting away and has a weird voice. That doesn’t even portray what I’m trying to say correctly. So though I’ve said mostly bad things in the examples I’m using today, I do very much like the way some of the characters sound. Primarily, Lin sounds the best imo. He sounds natural and fitting of his character. There are a few other good dubs in here as well. Enough of me, I’ve been too noisy today. Please dislike this comment, I just wrote this because it was on my mind. I don’t actually do Daily Dub bitching, this was a one time only. Idk maybe one day I’ll come back to it. All anyone talks about anymore is Brotherhood, but the first FMA series was also really good -- and in *some* ways even better (both series did some things better than the other)

I disagree. Parts of each are better. Across the board the villains in the first series were better. What the homunculi were and their actual characters (and how you defeat them) is way more interesting and makes way more sense, and Dante was a much more interesting a villain than Father, IMO. Also Archer, who was underutilized, IMO. Plus Mustang being responsible for Winry's parents deaths was more interesting. Where the first series fails is in the ending (and the handful of eps leading up to it), which was horrible shit slapped together to lead into a terrible movie that had nothing to do with the show. Brotherhood has a better overall plot line, what the gate is and what's behind it is better, the characters from Xing are a great addition, as is Olivier, and Greed surviving a lot longer is a big improvement (since he's easily the most interesting of the homunculi in both series).
