Jack: how can you read? Ben: My mother taught me. Not only is this a hilarious comeback, but we know for a fact that Ben is lying, since his mother died in childbirth. Just goes to show that Ben has become so used to lying all the time that he will lie in even the most trivial of conversations.

I'm now convinced that Nikki and Rana have taken on the show's "man of science" v "man of faith" pov. Nikki needs explanations in straightforward, tangible facts hence the disbelief in destiny at work but certainty that Ben is behind literally everything. Rana seems much more willing to go along for the ride and just accept the greater forces at work that'll lead the show to its endpoint.

Edit. "Flashes before your eyes" and "The Constant" are very important companion peices to this episode. It sets up the rules that the universe course corrects. The oceanic 6 were not meant to leave the island although it helped them see what stakes they have off the island and what they need to go back for. Despite all Ben's manipulation they somehow all end up in LA 8 months after Frank gets a job on the exact flight path required to take them back. They have to recreate the details of the original crash to increase the chances of return just like charlie couldn't avoid diving saving people he was able to change the context within how many he could save. Also always wondered was the universe supposed to have frank pilot the passengers but he changed what should happen by not flying? Or was he always meant to fly out everyone once then island was done with them?

I think Rana is right about the island not always moving. I think it's just that it can move. Otherwise Whitmore's people wouldn't have been able to find it. The coordinates wouldn't have worked and moving the island to protect it would have been pointless. I think it's just that the island can move, has moved, and isn't in any reliable location - so if you're looking for it, you should focus on where it could be. Especially because was until very recently traveling in space and time a lot (with the flashes).

Before I proceed with my standard "observations," I will say that Suraj seems to be TRYING (at least) to show more restraint in what he blurts out. All the same, even with his "new and improved" participation, I'm still inclined to believe this reaction show would be better without him (or his "input"). 3:26 Rana notices a painting and thinks aloud, "What is that painting?" Suraj responds (for some reason) "someone will describe it in great detail." Now, truth be told, I don't personally remember that painting or this subsequent detailed "description". But here's the thing. Why chime in at that point? If and when that "description" scene occurs, Rana will have that "oh, that was the painting behind Eloise in that one episode!" reaction. So why say anything? How did he help with his input? Or, more accurately, WHOM did he help with his participation? 3:53 Rana (again) thinks aloud "We saw this before." To which Suraj responds (for some reason), "kinda, but we didn't see this whole..." What was Rana thinking? What was she actually asking? In his absence, would she and Nikki have tried to piece together their memory of that room? And without knowing what Rana was "asking," what was he answering? 12:55 As Nikki and Rana are working things out and piecing things together together, Nikki mistakenly says that the note said "I'm sorry." Suraj "corrects her" and points out that it actually said "I wish". Not an egregious intervention, but again, the question was why say it? The writers reveal the note in its entirety LATER IN THE EPISODE. Nikki will know what the note said. I don't know how this interjection helped. 13:46 Here's that mansplaining again. Granted, there's a chance the ladies hadn't connect the fugitive dots, but this was a golden opportunity for Suraj to have acted the part of the prudent guide. Rather than blurt out a manslpanation of Kate in handcuffs/Sayid in handcuffs, why not let this be part of recap discussion. After the viewing, he could've asked them to connect the dots themselves. "Okay, Eloise said that the conditions had to be a similar as possible to the first crash scenario. Locke's body in the coffin represented Christian's. What else was similar?" 16:05 Rana (again) thinks aloud, "There's more people on the plane!" Suraj responds (for some reason) that Hurley couldn't buy all the seats... Why? What good was this explanation? She wasn't trying to reconcile Hurley buying up the remaining seats vs. the presence of other passengers aboard. She wasn't wondering how they got on. She was observing and lamenting it (she was giving an authentic reaction). But there was Suraj's mansplanation to the rescue, answering a question she didn't even ask or wasn't even confused about. Why? I'm not sure. In case she WAS wondering how the other passengers got on board??? 20:42 Here Suraj begins a comment saying "The thing about season 5..." and proceeds to give a summary analysis about a season the girls haven't finished watching. Why? For whom? Was it to edify the viewing experience of these first-time viewers or simply to demonstrate his knowledge of the show. 24:30 Here, Rana was thinking aloud trying to process what happened to Ben. Now, part of the fun (for me) in watching reactions is seeing people go down wrong paths. But Suraj decides to connect some dots for her. He effectively tells her that whatever befell Ben had to do with the loose ends he said he had to tie up and was not connected to any retribution against Ben for turning the wheel himself... Suraj "sets her straight". Okay, not a spoiler, but why chime in? How did he help her? Would she not have realized what happened to Ben in the next episode or two? 25:55 And here's a rich little exchange. Rana was up for seeing another episode, but Suraj decides to end this viewing session because HE couldn't do another one. What? God forbid the ladies watch episodes in his absence and pay closer attention, work out details more assiduously, and have honest, genuine reactions without someone trying to direct their reactions in a certain direction. I realize I'm nitpicking, but to me, it's not just about major spoilers. It's about letting reactors have pure, honest, genuine reactions. If there's any knowledge from hindsight injected, there should be a good reason to justify it. It's about giving the reactors THEIR moment. It's about letting them think aloud and process what their seeing. It's about letting the writers tell the story. Why chime in on things you didn't know in real time. Why chime in on things people aren't supposed to know at this point of a particular episode? Why chime in on things that will become evident on the show itself? Why chime in at all when it's not really for the benefit of the first-time viewers?

Haunting of Hill House is far more touching I’d say. But different shows do different things. Breaking Bad was really good at story telling and boasted some stellar actors. GoT became a visual spectacle (best on tv yet) but did little else great. This is more about a few touching characters and how they came together. But if you think people are dumb for not liking the ending (or for not liking stuff that you like in general as a matter of fact), it only really shows that the dumb person is yourself.

08:38 _Jack: this is ridiculous!_ _Eloise: Oh, stop thinking how ridiculous it is!_ Well, that’s one way to characterize the difference between those who love and those who hate the end of Lost, and I guess that dialogue is indeed a bit self-aware on the part of the writers - and it must be obvious that the plot is becoming more convoluted, arbitrary, loose and nonsensical by that point in the show. I mean, come on: now you have to put Christian’s shoes in Locke’s deceased body, and all that in a plane with some specific people, in order to get back to the island. Yea, that’s ridiculous, pretty much. And fine if you don’t care, but just don’t act like the criticism is gratuitous and just from people confused about plot. If you do think that, the appropriate response can only be that “stop thinking” are the operative words in Eloise’s side of things...

Season 5 answers guide: 1. The thing Desmond said about them beeing pieces on a game, just wait till season 6 to see that unfold. 2. So in season 2 the Medicine man who tried to cure Rose said something about pockets of electromagnetism, so that should prove some people that the writters planned this whole 5th and 6th season way before. 3. the 72 hours Eloise told Ben about were the window they had to return to the island. 4. The flash they felt during the flight was similar to the ones the guys back on the island experienced. That flash took them just like the guys from the island to the island at a certain point in time. Aside from that the episode is pretty self-explanatory regarding answers and mysteries. Pretty sure she was referring to Jeremy Bentham, as Suraj had just told them the name of the next episode.

The only question left is who will Nikki hate more when the show is over, the show or Suraj.

Not at all related to Lost but just wondering how many people said "Bless You" when she sneezed? Or am I the only one?

It's always moving they just didn't know it that's why they couldn't be rescued they couldn't find it cause it's camouflage and always moving. You only having the humming and skipping now cause the wheel is off its axis like Christian saif. The island needs them on the island once done left the wheel got off axis. Yeah! Do another! Especially with rana she can do another! Who wouldn't want to do another with rana. Thank you Suraj for these and bringing these beautiful ladies to these reactions thank you
