After Kevin has spilled the beans that he is not Carly and Deano's father, Shirley also has some truths to be told, that being the identities and fates of both Carly's and Deano's fathers are unknown.

I still hate how they ruined Dean's character. Max Branning fair enough, he was a slimeball from the get-go so when he became a murderer by killing Steven no one was surprised. Dean had issues but he just had so much hatred towards the world, how did EastEnders rectify this? After having him bullied senseless by Sean Slater, his dad dying, the trainwreck of his and Shirley's relationship... They turned him into a rapist, and there really is no coming back from that ever. I know Carly was hurting but she went a tad far by doing what she did to Shirley as well.

He became worlds apart from the emotionally vulnerable cheeky chappy he originally was. "Dark" Dean first emerged for the last few days before his first departure when he came out of prison, paid for a prostitute, and beat and robbed Shirley before walking off. He intimated during those scenes that he had been raped in prison. I thought that would've been a better point to pick up from when he returned years later rather than have him rape his brother's wife and become irredeemable. I could imagine him perhaps attempting to rape Linda or overstepping the mark and snapping out of it, but not actually rape her and lie about it.

I hate how they retconned this by making Buster Dean's dad, which was only done as an afterthought to add to the devastation of Dean raping his full brother's wife. It was much better - and more tragic for Dean's character - for his father to have been someone Shirley literally didn't know because she was so bladdered when he was conceived.

Exactly. So carly and dean had different dads, not Kevin. But years later made him and mick have the same dads, randomly. That's twisted. They made it up after. Either way, they were still all siblings by the same mother

But if Kevin would have been mick's dad, why would Kevin not raise him when he raised carly and Dean? That wouldn't make sense. Just like making carly, Dean and mick all have different dads, not mentioning mick until years later and randomly saying buster was mick and dean's dad. Dean became a psycho and attacked mick's wife Linda.

What I don't understand is how Shirley knew for sure Kevin wasn't their father? Kevin was Jimbo's dad, so, he was capable. Shirley and Kevin couldn't have done it very often.
