Two things about Ezra's case of skulls: The "Abbadoobo" tribe is suspiciously close to Fred Flintstone's "Yabba dabba doo!" exclamation, indicating the tribe may be fictitious, and if you open the case and examine the skulls...they're plastic. All of which indicates a certain character flaw in Mr. Parker's case. Edit: Also, if you talk to Juliana after talking to Burt, but *don't* accuse her, Burt subsequently has some *very* interesting additional dialogue.

A thought about the RoboBrain 2.0 personalities: The Robobrains we encounter elsewhere, including the ones in the Automatron DLC, are _supposed_ to be using the "recruited" human brains only as a biological processor. Their actual personalities, memories etc. are supposed to be purged/suppressed by means of technology and conditioning. That doesn't work as well as the designers hoped it would, leading to all sorts of problems with controlling their behaviour. The updated models present in Vault 118 seems to have done away with all or most of that, in favour of allowing the original personalities to remain in active control. As hinted at, no longer having a human body will have quite a strong psychological impact, and I suspect that a lot more is done to mitigate that beyond the voice modulators. Still, 200 years of artificially reinforcing their personalities is very likely to have driven the vault residents even more bananas than they were originally. As for why they seem unaware of the state of the world outside the vault, I suspect that it's a combination of denial and being actively shielded from information. Who is restricting the information then? My guess would be the vault AI, probably under orders from Vault-Tec _and_ Ezra Parker.
@jacobfreeman5444
@jacobfreeman5444 Жыл бұрын
Don't need to filter out information nobody asks for. These robobrain arseholes could not be more oblivious to anything outside their narrow focus. I mean they should have figured out what was going on long before you show up. Sheer curiosity should have ensured it. Instead they actively ignored pretty much everything else around them. Ezra could not have picked a more self-absorbed bunch. Mrs. Rigs was seemingly the only one who could be bothered look into things and that is only because she was such a tyrant she was not satisfied bossing around her spineless husband. She decided to go after Ezra too.
@nikospurr307
@nikospurr307 Жыл бұрын
I think the original robobrains were mostly criminals/prisoners, basically unwilling "volunteers" so they wouldn't want to give those people control of a robotic body, so they were used, as you said, just as a processor, but the vault millionaires were willing and even paying for the experience so they got full control.

personally I think that the murder happened a LONG time before the sole survivor comes along, theres just too many aspects that point toward them being in a loop of sorts. firstly, the overseers quarters is on the verge of collapse from disrepair, which from the current... state, of the overseer and the lack of data entries after the doors close implies that the door was locked very soon after the new experiment ended. secondly, you have Ezra continuing to embezzle money (or trying to) after the doors shut. if the brains were working fine until recently then either Ezra would know theres no money to embezzle (this is doubly true of him being the probable one to close the vault doors since vault tec doesnt have remote control and the overseer says he didnt do it) and nowhere for it to go and/or the other residents would know theres no way for him to use the money thirdly, we are told that Ezra's scheme was found out. HOW? nothing has happened inbetween the doors closing and us arriving, Ezra doesnt have a terminal where he monologues his plan, we cant find any evidence of his crimes but we are meant to believe that Julianna managed to discover the scheme just before she ran out of money? and finally, the germophobe Julianna would not have allowed for their residence to get to the state that it did, instead it looks like Ezra simply played the part of Julianna but didnt adopt her habits such as keeping things clean and sterile to me it just feels a bit too off for all of the residents to think the war is still going on after 200 years, but if you start with the idea of them being in a loop/state of dementia it makes sense that everything is a bit off, all the while the immediate issues are also easily waved away. we know that the MR Handy line are a bit overzealous with their orders, so if they were told to leave the crime scene alone until the detective arrived they would leave it alone until the detective arrived, be it five minutes or five centuries. even the brain, the only organic part remaining can be explained away as the gel being an extremely good preservative, preventing decomposition.

Robots in general in the Fallout universe seem to have difficulty understanding the actual nature of the world, which we normally write off as a programming limitation, but maybe it's more endemic to the technology that creates such self aware robots. Maybe imprinting a person's memories in a robot isn't enough to overcome it. I personally think the robobrain isn't truly the person it was made from, it's a robot that integrates memories and the personality of whoever was used to make it.
@AC-th4ci
@AC-th4ci Жыл бұрын
Interesting. For some reason that reminds me of the synths, particularly Nick Valentine. He's an imprint of a pre-war detective, and is over a century old, yet he can recognize the world around him, is self-aware to the point where he knows he's not the 'real' Valentine, and still hasn't gone loopy. I wonder what the difference is-- maybe it's putting the actual brain into a robot that causes the issues? Maybe it's just that the Institute managed to improve the technology? It's been years since I've played so I can't think of a good answer.
@knottheory79220
@knottheory79220 Жыл бұрын
@@AC-th4ci Synths were designed to be humans, or, well synthetic humans. I think whatever technology they work on is just different. The Gen 1/2 synths don't even seem self aware, it's like they had to iterate on the technology until they achieved something like human sentience.
@SadisticSenpai61
@SadisticSenpai61 11 ай бұрын
@@AC-th4ci The Institute is using new technology, even if it is based on pre-war tech to some degree. But there's also the fact that the Institute was programming their synths after the bombs fell. The existing state of things was essentially preprogrammed into their synths, so their synths have no problems with reacting to the current state of the world. It's exactly what their programming would predict. Meanwhile, all the pre-war robots were programmed to exist in a very different world/environment. Their programming just couldn't prepare them to even acknowledge what happened, let alone really process the changes. And when they get too confused, their default seems to fall back onto a long-buried military routine, in other words, violence. And it is entirely possible that the US military may have demanded that all robots be able to be "drafted" in case of an invasion to fight in the military. It wouldn't even be unprecedented. Prior to WWI and WWII, loans were given from governments to passenger liner companies to build new ships on the condition that if war was declared, the ships would be pulled into military service. And included in that, the ships had to be built to certain specifications. Ofc, the ships that did end up being called into service turned out to be terrible military ships in WWI, so by WWII they used converted passenger liners into troop carriers and military hospital ships which worked a lot better. The main problem was the lack of plated hulls, so enemy fire just punched right through them. Nick is an interesting case, but as we do see in the Far Harbor DLC, he has his own issues as well - primarily with memory storage. Ofc, I've also got my own pet fan theory that the Sole Survivor is a synth that's had the original's memory/personality/etc imprinted on them - and that that was Father's actual experiment. And in that way, a synth boy with his synth parent with neither aging is a lot less... problematic? IDK. But I always play as Nora. As Nick, it does make sense that he's able to handle the post-War world - he is a retired soldier, after all. Nora, on the other hand, was a lawyer and that's really about all we know about her. It's a little odd that she can just pick up a gun and take out a bunch of raiders followed by a deathclaw without at least an emotional breakdown after the fact. And then there's the little oopsie where the Sole Survivor can use VATS before they get a Pip-boy... I know that's probably just because Bethesda forgot to restrict VATS prior to picking up the Pip-boy, but it does lend evidence towards the Sole Survivor being a synth seeing as there's an entry in Robotics that describes synths' eyesight/reaction time in a way that perfectly describes VATS.

About survivors outside the Vault: as far as I can tell, the Island of Far Harbour was not hit directly by any nuclear bombs. The main indication for this is that there is no big, glowing crater like the Glowing Sea anywhere. This is a bit strange, since it seems that Chinese authorities were aware of the submarine base, something I'm sure they would have seen as a priority target. Seeing as how the Island and its surrounding waters were anything but spared from nuclear pollution, my best guess is that a nuke _was_ launched, but missed and impacted in the sea somewhere nearby. I don't know of any evidence of this, but it seems plausible given the overall radioactivity of the area as well as the many, _many_ mutated aquatic creatures. The impact site would then also be the source of the Fog, I suppose. In any case, this means that it is likely that a lot of island residents survived the events of the war itself. Of course, many of them would then be without shelter from the fallout, probably wishing they hadn't survived War Day after all... As I believe you have shown in other videos, there is evidence of military activity on the Island that appears to have happened very shortly _after_ the bombs, which also points to there being active survivors at that time.

Interesting fact, the crater in the glowing sea wasn't actually left by a bomb alone, there was a nuclear power plant there that was struck by the bomb, the powerplant then went into complete meltdown and exploded which is why the glowing sea is so much more radioactive and contaminated compared to the rest of Boston

@@renaigh I chuck it up to survivor bias. You see a lot of Ghouls, sure, but not a lot of pre-war ghouls. The few who are had to witness their family die either in the blast or around them. It's a simple game of numbers, perhaps some genetic variant enables ghoulification in small portions of the population, and when the bombs fell, you had billions of people suffering from that radiations, if only a few millions survived the initial blast and only 0.1% of that population becomes ghoulified, you can still get thousands of these pre-war ghouls. Excluding those who die from other causes over the century and those lost to feralism, you get a handful that may still be Littering about the post-war wasteland. It's just that the rate is unclear, and the exact process was never clarified. We have the Vault 12, the survivors from which formed Necropolis; and we have Vault 34 in New Vegas, where it's not clear how many of the dead vault dwellers there died from the armed insurrection and how many from the radiation. But it seems to me, not even in-universe, do everyone turn into Ghouls in the Fallout games

The reality is that we have no real proof that any of them are who they are claiming or believe to be. They all recognize that a large amount of time has gone by but exactly what that really means to them is called into question. The artist claims he last painted with the pieces he shows us and that the cat was his most popular thanks to the commonfolk..indicating he hasnt really done painting for some time despite obviosuly having been painting and even admitting that a what he was doing at the time of the fight. The gut with the bat claims he has been in love with ezra for 200 years and has been doing activities with him such as hunting and other phsysical outdoor activities that couldnt actually be happening in some time. Ezra himself admits he has taken over Juliana's place for some time. This is not unbleivable as there seems to be more evidence that theyve been waiting an extended period for the detective over it having happened as recently as they seem to thing. The doctor claims the voice modulation helps them keep their sense of identity but they all seem a little insane..and that makes more sense when we realize they all have access to each others voice modulation. This also calls the supposed doctors own identity into question as he did not seem to recognize the flaw this could create or that it was occuring. Ezra also seemed to have Juliana's perosnality down..or at least a very particualr one the doctor believed was his wife. The reality is that any and all of the perosnalities/identitie we meet could be fabricated! For all we know, it was the missing grunt staff who rebelled and took over for the rich folk long ago and assumed their roles in cartooney dipictions. They are all clearly aware of the concept of a long time having passed byt when it comes to individual events, they seem completely confused. Without the kind of senses that would help them place what they experience over that timeframe they know occured, everything within it is wonky and illogical. Of course they are a bit confused about the fact fact they wont have the lives they do in 200 years becayse as far as they can percieve, the things they did that long ago were yesterday or last week. They are doing the same things, shut in with no exuastion, no need to eat, no outside events to mark anything..its just a bunch of the same stuff within 200 years. They clearly have been affected by the madness that effects all these bots and truthfully, the only reason we belived they were any level of sane is because they seemed confident in who they were. With Juliana revealing herself to be Ezra, we realize there is not true precident that either of them actually existed. If they did, its just as possible that Juliana WAS the crazy bot but was beliving themselves to be Ezra now after killing him.

It is also plausible that Ezrianna refuses the tune up because he fears it might lock him into her somehow, having gone a little batty from having to impersonate someone for a few centuries. Perhaps the real tragedy is that Ezra just it becoming loopy, throwing the blame and anger at actors as he acts constantly.

I actually encountered Pearl in Far Harbor itself, just after fending off the initial wave of hostiles and before heading to Acadia. She actively looks for a detective there, and has apparently heard that you are, or are at least posing, as a detective looking for a certain missing girl which brought you here in the first place, which is why she tries to approach her if you aren't good at dodging her. I'm genuinely surprised you didn't run into her your first time, she's quite hard to miss. You must've taken a different route out of town than I did. Also, this whole quest looks very much like a game of Clue. You know 'Mr Plum, in the dining room, with the candlestick', that sort of thing.

I love that you’re smashing out lore videos again. The long form content is excellent 👌🏼👌🏼 Not sure if you plan on covering the older games again, but maybe something on the life in the Capital Wasteland during the aftermath of the war. You’ve covered the Keller Family in the past, perhaps there are similar stories? There’s clear signs that the military setup around DC, pre/post war. Possible potential video idea maybe. Either way, keep up the solid work man.

I know I'm like, a whole month late, but, I just couldn't let this slip through. So, around minute 6:00 you asked "Who did they send out to search for a detective" . Thing is, I remember seeing another video a long while ago, who also asked the same question. But, not so long ago, in one of my playthroughs, when I came back to far harbor after confronting dima (I think), a Ms nanny came near me and introduced me to the quest of vault 118, I don't remember the name of the Ms nanny, my brain says it was Pearl, but, tbh, that's kind of a generic Ms nanny name that could've used on the base game. I do play with mods, but I'm on PS4 aka no custom dialogue, so it wasn't a mod. I probably should have recorded it but, I didn't mind it that much then since I didn't want to do that quest line, I could give a screenshot of the miscellaneous quest, cause I think it didn't outright start the quest, it only marked it on my map, kinda like when you hear rumors from the diamond city guards. Anyways, hope this is of some use. Edit: So im about an hour in on the video, and it seems it was indeed pearl.
