What a great guide, but no one is talking about the elephant in the room. I don't comment much on the mechanics of OSRS, because it's far better than RS3 (much love to 2007), but as OSRS has evolved, some skills have not evolved together with the game and they have become totally irrelevant. One of these skills is smithing. If you look at the smithing skills historically, then in 2004 it made sense that you can smith Rune Platebodies at 99 smithing, but these days? 99 smithing to make armor which is used at level 40 defense? This is just ridiculous. I don't want OSRS to go the RS3 road, but smithing has to be reworked. Period.

@Nedvio There’s a long crazy story as to why runeplates is at 99 smith. There were a lot of people in RuneScape classic that took advantage of when smithing was released and cornered the market for certain items. Nowadays they need a new method, or something similar to forestry.

The Anvil in Priffdinas is actually 2 squares closer to the bank compared to Varrock, but you eed to complete Song of the Elves.

You didnt mention 1 Method, I personally used to get 99 Smithing, its a mix between rune ore and gold and Blast Furnace, you need a Coal bag and do 3 Inventories of Gold ore with Coal in the Coal Bag, the 4th Inven is Coal in the Coal Bag and Runite ore. You can get over 250k Smithing xp/Hour doing this Method and when I did it, it costed me like 0.2gp/xp

Isn't priff slightly closer from a bank to an anvil? Also, what I did was decant all my stamina pots into 1 dose vials, and I set the 1 click option in the bank to "all", so when I need a Stam pot dose, I just click the Stam pot stack, esc, drink the dose, and continue. It's better like that because then it won't go to a different bank slot because it has less doses in the vial.

For the Darts and cannonballs, I would NOTE all the bars you will want to use. If you "use" the noted bars on the bank you get an option to un note the bars. Press 1 and your inventory will be filled with unnoted bars. It is the fastest banking method if you want to do darts, knives, bolts, arrowheads or cannonballs

@@Whimsicat Not really true on the XP loss. You can click the noted bars from the anvils location and place the mouse back on the anvil hile running to the bank making for superfast banking. Normal banking means open the bank, Deposit the items made and grab the ne bars then close the bank tab and go back to the anvil. So using the noted bars method is enough faster to keep the XP per hour and even make it higher.

Skiller Guide to getting Ice Gloves: • Go to Ice Queen with a Main or Friend & place yourselves behind the throne so Ice Warriors cant attack you • Use the Main/Friend to agro & lure the queen by casting a curse spell (DO NOT CAUSE ANY PHYSICAL DAMAGE) • Have your Skiller deal at least 1 damage to the Queen • Once the damage has been dealt, have the Main/Friend recoil the Queen till death and the gloves will drop for the Skiller Other Tips: • Skiller inventory: Pick axe & extra food for Main/Friend • Main/Friend inventory: Pick axe, 3 recoils, curse runes, food • Main/Friend would preferably have 70+ HP • Have the Main/Friend recoil the Queens HP down a bit before dealing damage with your Skiller just in case the Queens HP restores • Make sure the Main/Friend does NOT cause ANY physical damage to the Queen, only recoil damage or the Ice Gloves wont drop for the Skiller Good Luck & Gratz!

Yeah I feel his platebody calcs are off too, I was averaging a little over 200k with addys and I was paying 100% attention. Broadly speaking I'm thinking all these estimates are only based on the amount of ticks each action takes, not any actual real world application. Heck even his blast furnace rates were off from mine by about 10k per hour. Not sure where the discrepancy occurs but I'd sure love to know. This isn't to say this wasn't a great guide or anything. The methods are solid, I'm just skeptical of the accuracy of the XP rates

You don't need a 99 to share information on how to get a 99 in a particular skill. There are many paths to getting a 99. It is up to you to decide which one works for you.

How are you getting a 1.5k xp drop? I'm only getting 450xp after I use the conveyor belt and then another 450xp once I've collected the gold bars. I'm using gauntlets and ice gloves correctly - i.e. use gauntlets to deposit gold and then once the xp has dropped switch over to ice gloves. Anyone help?

Prifddinas anvil is closer than varrock, mixing rune bars with gold bars is a mix of exp and money making efficiency. Just run the coal with your invent of gold until you have filled the furnace with coal then bring an invent of rune. Enjoy.

You will lose money with platebodies, but you will lose less money i you sell the platebodies you make to the alchers in world 308 as west varrock bank. cost per mith:3750 and you sell for 2800. Cost for addy: 10,000 and sell for 9600. So if you sell your platebodies (or dhide bodies when crafting) to the alchers in w308 you minimize your loss while smithing platebodoies

i was the person who unlocked Runic smithing kazna 420 so today i was able to on steam login to my old account. I um had to redo character creation but in my day there was this "Jail" that lower levels had cockroaches. the biggest roaches could drop from notes 50x iron or 1-3x mithril and maybe some coal, been a while. I also, back in my old days was able to find mitril south east or west of lumbridge and to the north west past the wilderness and/or PvP ZONE currently i am playing i believe hardcore ironman mode, it was introduced after i started playing so i never saw the option before now. since i can't trade there will be difficulties i know i can sell to the general stores any item (hint . hint) fellow "ironmen"

Ive gone thru the math and this does not add up at all (blast furnace calcuations) unless im going crazy here. I'm looking at mithril bars and according to prices (which have been similar to when this guide was realeased) you get about 25gp profit per bar and per hour that would be 80kgp/hr which is only around 10% of your calculated profit according to your website and this isnt even taking into account blast furnace fees. Someone please tell me im not crazy. I even did this for rune and addy none of it adds up!

What’s really unfortunate about smithing is that the more you progress, the less your experience reward is. Each step along the way from steel to rune gives you less xp per coal used. As if the increase in xp needed per lvl wasn’t brutal enough, they have to double penetrate us. Yikes!

You don't need ice gloves if you time it right, it cools down over time without water or ice, but it's bugged and you can kind of exploit it

OMG please help me. Instead of getting 1517 xp for my 27 gold bar i now get 56xp immidiately after putting in the gold ore and 556xp after i smelt them into gold bars. I can only get my xp drop after i take out the bars so i cant use my goldsmith gauntlets. I have payed my fee, talked to the foreman. I have ice gloves and goldsmithing gauntlets and use them as explained in this video. Previously i would get 1517 xp per inventory but all of a sudden it switch. Help☹

Blast furnace gold ore gets way better than what you have. If you do it correctly it’s like 350k/h @theoatrix tbh all your guides are a little behind with the information that is already known.

The RS3 Mining and Smithing rework is what killed OSRS Ironman for me. RS3 Ironman with Invention and the new Smithing is the most fun I've had in RS, either RS3 or OSRS. Making trimmed Masterwork armour from scratch on Ironman is one of the most satisfying things I've ever done. So much hard work and you literally have the most powerful armour in the game. Since Archaeology has come out I've been working towards the new Masterwork Spear of Annihilation and eventually want a Max cape to finish my ideal Ironman set.

Doesn't cover everything but got all the basics down. The Prifddinas anvil, blast mining for good primary ores/loads of coal needed off kingdom management and Zalcano in the ironman section specifically.

Smelting Gold bars is much better and more efficient than smelting steel - you require 3 inventory slots per single steel bar, meaning you can make much less per carry load. My mining is somewhat higher level than my smithing, so it works out to mine gold then smelt it.
