On today's episode, we are able and blessed to sit around the same table to discuss and meet with our old friend pietism. The other night, we were discussing how pietism dies a very slow and painful death. We also talked about the damage it can cause to our assurance and what we see when we look at ourselves in Christ. In this podcast, we discuss the slow and painful death of pietism and how it can harm us.
Members Podcast: We get a little bit more punchy as we talk about the dangers of pietism as it relates to the gathered saints in the local church and the damage that it can cause. We hope this conversation is beneficial to you as it was to us. We look forward to you listening.

Very helpful in understanding some of the weird things I hear from people who profess calvinistic theology but terrorize newer Christians by heaping up reasons for them to doubt their conversion.

Excellent content, but it took 7 minutes before we got to it. Almost lost me but content was well worth hanging in there for it.

I'm afraid you are crucifying pietism. A life in Christ without a conscious pursuit of the pious life is what is killing Christianity in the west .It is the individual saints who make the church without spot or wrinkle

You guys are wrongly converting what true piety is. Piety is not a work in the way its typically understood. Works flow from faith. A pious, repentant simple life will be the fruits of a God fearing soul. Just like the church fathers and early Christians. Piety is constantly molested to be perceived as living self righteously under the law. Piety to me is having self knowledge of our sinfulness which in turn always will bring new birth and repentance under God's law. A man of true piety knows he cannot fill the law, he is astoudly aware of how impossible of a feat that is. But we don't want to sin freely, or "don't brood, just believe" But The law and the gospel should be spoken as a double edged sword. This follows with the order of grace. Coming under the law, realizing our sinfulness and by the grace of God and through christ righteousnes able to be forgiven in Jesus name. A Christian should experience pains and aches of conscience and rebirth, change of heart and mind And have sorrow after the mind of God. Piety is a fruit of faith.

In their primer Faith vs Faithfulness , they discuss the difference between piety and pietism. You might find that you actually agree with them, and that you are both saying the same things.
