I am still trying to get off of the floor from this much-needed gut punch. Thank you for this discussion, which opened my eyes regarding an area of my life that has taken away much of the joy of my salvation. I have a lot of prayer and study ahead of me.

Know that you have never been out of God's arms. In fact he engineers your whole life, and brought this crisis. Now, you know better that your need has brought you closer to understanding your position in Christ''s righteousness, out of the realm of sin. My prayers are with you for a walk in the Spirit, by seeing clearly that we died to sin with Christ. The source of our sins was taken into the grave and we were risen with him a completely new creation in Christ''s righteous and not in our filthy rags. 🙏💯

I just want to apologize for being critical. I believe the Spirit wants me to share my thoughts in love. I get so excited about grace and want everyone to know this truth! I run into a lot of resistance with the church who are stuck in the law and Grace mentality. God bless you in your journey in Christ.

That is refreshing to hear, however these guys are self admitted Calvinists/Reformed Theology purveyors. So I'm genuinely curious... are you coming from a Calvinistic perspective?

We need heavenly facts to rest up on. Are we afraid to give out too much grace?

Yes they are afraid to give out grace. Look to the Lutheran tradition (missouri synod) for grace and comfort that Christ is for you.

It’s good to see you guys working through the Gospel you’re right it can be a journey as we refine our understanding and ability to proclaim the Gospel, growing in clarity as you have said so many times. It’s a journey we must travel in dependance on the Holy Spirit to unite us in His Word and person and with one another. God bless you guys as you continue to grow in clarity of the Gospel of Christ.

Wouldn't be a better phrase be 'Reconstruction' rather than 'De-'. I find Rev 3:3 useful - Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. So many accretions can appear because of popular mass teachings - but returning to the basics can be a good corrective.

Self therapeutic should be a topic in itself . How necessary is the fellowship of believers? Is there such a thing as a true believer that doesn’t desire fellowship and definitely not membership in a local church?

Just starting the video, but I'm already wrestling with the question in this title. There is a notable mismatch between the apparent priorities of Christians in my orbit and those that I find the Bible speaking to in its overarching themes of love and stewardship. Additionally, the rigidity of doctrines like YEC or the Katie Britt flavor of complentarianism runs afoul with my own observations of the world in which I live, and by association I'm also forced to reevaluate my hermeneutics. I don't want to overcorrect to the point of distorting God's plan, but no longer take it for granted that those that came before me are necessarily more right simply by virtue of tradition, authority, or age.

Doug Wilson uses that same phrase. "Already, not yet." That statement Too general. Just stick with " Already" and that is abiding in Christ and walking in the Spirit.

Is believing we only grow by resting in heavenly places, in Christ, over correcting. Many of your statements are too general. We need the facts this man brings to us: Miles J. Stanford "Principles of Spiritual Growth"

But don't forget to reckon on the historical facts of how we got out of the realm of sin and know that heavenly position in Christ never changed.

Living in the light is too general. The light is in heavenly places and in our new nature which is separated by Christ's death from the old nature.

The right use of the law is key to my life now. The law as an external constraint is gone;, the law as a means to drive me to the gospel of Christ is now past its use;, now the law has been internalized through the Spirit and serves as the living law that propels my motivation to live a life of heartfelt obedience to Jesus my Lord who has released me from the other uses of the law. If you love me you will obey my commandments. John 14:15 and my yoke (commandments) is easy and my burden is light and you will find rest for your souls. Matt 11 Many in the visible church are living under the law of external constraints without having the supernatural work of conviction of sin that drives one to the gospel of Christ. The danger is when leaders try to teach these persons in the church to use the law in the third sense, which they cannot do. Meanwhile persons that have been born again and should be dead to other peoples constraints or cultural expectations find themselves floundering around trying to perfect the sanctification work of the Spirit by returning to uses of the law that the Spirit says they have died too (thus a return to the flesh and hints of the Galatian heresy). Bottom line is that life and death issues in this life and the next are determined by a persons actual relationship to the law of God. Through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. Galatians 2 The law of the Spirit has set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature. God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law may be fully met in us, who do not live according to our sinful nature, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8

The overarching theme of this podcast is also the overarching error and that is the idea that people deconstruct so they can sin more. That isn't the issue for most. For most people that deconstruct they saw the Evangelical church broadly embrace a greedy narcissist who had multiple affairs, slept with pornstars, then paid them off and the response of their church leadership was a disappointing, "well, he's better than a Democrat." Bible believing members were shown the door when they didn't jump on the Trump train and were told they just weren't "Biblical." Or, someone starts to believe that climate change is real and they look to the Bible's commands to have dominion over and care for the Earth as a call to care for the planet only to be told they are a radical, a Lib, "Woke", a Communist, or a Socialist so what choice did they have other than to look somewhere else for a faith community? That and a host of other social issues are why most people deconstruct. I've known plenty of sinners inside the walls of an Evangelical church, you don't need to deconstruct to sin more.

@scottboxrud6785 I apologize, I had to jump threads. My reply to yours in the other thread won't take. Based on your last reply to mine, there is still a struggle between the new self and the flesh. As a believer in Christ's finished work, who has received Christ's imputed righteousness, I will still sin in the flesh. If I revert to old patterns of thinking, I am sinning in the flesh. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1Jo 1:8-10 What is the purpose of Paul telling us to confess our sins in verse 9 if we no longer sin? Our confession is our acknowledgment of walking in the flesh and recognizing our need for the power of the Holy Spirit to transform and conform us into the image of Christ. The Holy Spirit has taught me what offends God, and I take that sin to Him in prayer. Positionally, I am saved by Christ, but I still have struggles with flesh either in thought, word, or deed. I hate my sin. I no longer desire to be in the world, but I do not live in a holy bubble that protects or isolates me from hearing or seeing offenses of a world that vexes the soul with their sinful deeds. I think Andrew Farley has a clear presentation of the Gospel, but I don't agree with all his theology. In love and peace, my dear brother.

Wow! Really? You are a sinner as a Christian? You absolutely do not understand Grace. Yes we sometime sin as a Christian and hopefully less and less but that has nothing to do with Justification. We are as righteous as Jesus. You are absolutely misinterpreting 1 John 1:9 Please listen to Pastor Andrew Farley and you will understand the true gospel of grace. Your almost there!

The statement that we are still sinners as a Christian is false. We are saints who sometimes sin. As I stated I don’t believe they understand 1 John 1:9 Watch the video I sent in the comments and I encourage you to check out Dr Andrew Farley. He teaches grace, does a radio show nightly answering questions on grace and writes books. The Naked Gospel is his first book God Bless!

@scottboxrud6785 How do you interpret Romans 7 where Paul, as a saved believer, talks about his two natures, a divine nature and a sin nature? I do not follow Andrew Farley, but I do listen to free grace theology, but those free grace teachers do not promote sinning and encourage believers to be profitable with doing good works created in us; not to keep or prove salvation, but for God's glory and living the Christian life in service to helping others.

@scottboxrud6785 I do not want to sound like I'm trying to divide. I hope to correct in love. Please reread your statement where you contradict yourself. Either you are a saint who does not sin (not sometimes), or you are a Christian who still sins, just like Paul in Romans 7. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1Jo 1:8 For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin. Ecc 7:20

There are problems here. First, God Jah is the father of the Christ. All praise goes to him through Christ. There is no once saved always saved. It's better to be honest about the whole bible and let people work that out.

Beware of these two false teachers !! Give up all sin because sin causes misery and destruction. That is the gospel message. 2 Corinthians 7:1 New International Version 7 Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

The Gospel message is that Christ paid your penalty for sin. The wages of sin is death. (Rom 3:23) The law is a tutor to bring us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. (Gal 3:24) We all are lawbreakers. For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. (Jam 2:10) No one can save themself from breaking the law, only Christ can. He took your penalty and redeemed us from the curse of the law. (Gal 3:13) We are saved by placing our faith in Christ's finished work, His death, burial, and resurrection. We cannot pay our penalty for sin with good works. We are justified by Christ's righteousness and reconciled to the Father on Christ's behalf. (2Cor 5:20) The Good News is Jesus paid it all through His blood to save us from the punishment we deserve.
