So musher nicer to watch than the 5 enclosed deck foiling foiling tech monsters of the last edition.

I don't agree - as these classic footage show, innovation changes the sport continuously, while seamanship remains key to a successful run. The evolution is natural and great to see.

@@cinavik there was some excitement missing from the last edition imo. The 2018 edition was much more gripping and the open cockpit was part of that.

I think it’s kind of amusing that on all of the modern vids we see “Technology has changed things so much! But has it gone too far?” laments but in these vintage films we see people at the time talking about how 70s-80s technology has made circumnavigation so much different than how it was in the Clipper days. Same as it ever was, I guess.
