"The Lottery" is a Shirley Jackson story about a small town that each year selects one of its citizens for a particularly gruesome fate. You could definitely call it depressing.

The wife was played by the same lady who was “Franklin’s” wife in ‘The Fever’. The IRS man was Olan Soule who believe it or not was the voice of Batman in numerous cartoons in the 60’s and 70’s.

Good episode. When he wished to be a leader of a foreign country and could not be voted out of office, he was just asking for punishment... He should have chosen his words a bit more carefully. Reminds of the addage; "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it !!"
