At 1:42 and 2:28, Dave is turning screws of the instrument. But, at this point, you must NOT turn screws since you have set the instrument to 180 degrees. Apart from that it's a nice video.

I believe he is raising the telescope to get to the assistant's pen so they can make the mark, correct? The horizontal angle is not changing, only the veritcal.

No. First he sets the horizontal angle to 180°0000. Two seconds later in the view from behind he is turning that horizontal screw again. The edit of the video is not chronologically correct.

@@Kogacarlo oh you're right. Except in the second shot (from behind), he has changed the face of the instrument and the adjustment knob on the right side of the instrument is the vertical angle knob. So he isn't doing it wrong, he just left out the part where he changed face and it made it confusing.

Would be good to get a telescope camera view to see what you are focusing on.

Where can i learn how to recalibrate theodolites like this?
@Bolensgoldrush3 жыл бұрын
This is not a recalibration, this is a measurement of the error in the instrument. To recalibrate, you need to take it to a shop.
