Went from a vegan against drugs and alcohol to a full blown hardcore drug addict in a relatively short period of time. Goes to show how easy falling into addiction can be for people. And still even today, it’s often doctors that have a hand in that unfortunate transition.

He didn’t though, this video is very misleading unfortunately, although I can’t blame them cause it’s such a widely pushed narrative but research of documents shows throughout much of the war those shots were just b12 or whatever vitamins he needed, he had health complications from being a vegan , though yes in 1945 he was drugs the writing was already on the wall at that point

Not for the past 5 yrs or so. It's literally impossible to get any type of decent pain killer legally anymore. This is why we see drug addicts everywhere dieing because they're forced to buy from drug dealers. And the dealers are selling fake Fentanyl. I myself deal with pain everyday from being stabbed and they give me ibuprofen. Ludacris.

@@dewittbourchier7169 widely held misconception. This is a Hollywood dogma. Beyond 1940 most of its use was limited to long aerial sorties. German high command realized the problems with addiction that were inherent to handing out Pervitin (d-meth tablets) after the campaign in France. Moreover they recognized it didnt have a significant positive effect on infantry or armored unit combat effectiveness and led to many problems, mainly dangerous insomnia that was really detrimental after strains of combat.

@@Chironex_Fleckeri To do what they did in Operation Crusader, the panzer troops at least had to be on drugs. There is no way soldiers could keep constantly moving and fighting for a week. And, as I said, it was Rommel. General Cruwell was the one who insisted the men needed to sleep, so Rommel was almost certainly ignoring the medical advice.
@Chironex_Fleckeri
@Chironex_Fleckeri 5 жыл бұрын
@@dewittbourchier7169 its positive impact is largely overstated and immaterial when considering operational successes of the Wehrmacht. Drugs didnt win those campaigns. It's just an interesting footnote that a lot of people like to latch onto because... it fits the common narrative for the 3rd Reichs warfighting strategy. Even the word Blitzkrieg was not used by the Germans themselves. A lot of the nazi on drug theories are just that - theories. The French lost because they weren't prepared for a massed tank assault from the Ardennes and because they didnt understand combined arms as the Germans did. The Polish tried to defend a large front while being numerically and materially inferior rather than fortifying defensible positions like riverbanks. The drug thing is such a small piece that has been dismissed by most of the WW2 military historian community. That book's agenda is to sell copies. Their opener wouldnt be "the early war Wehrmacht used stimulants with minor benefit and major detriment, but everyone wants to believe it played a large role, so here I am writing this"

There's also a short scene in which Hitler's left hand can be seen having a not so mild tremor before his final public appearance. Sadly I can't find it right now. But various accounts (including Weidling's) speak of it being persistent since some time, making the withdrawal theory questionable. Morell's documentation also mentions "Schüttellähmung" (roughly translates to "shaking paralysis") which goes with the tremor/parkinson theory (but does not exactly contradict yours).

There is a documentary called 'Hitler's sick file'. It mainly tells the story of hitler's consumption of different drugs (and of course how Morell became his personal doctor) It also shows a clip of Hitler talking with some children who were recruited for the defense of Berlin and there you can see clearly how is left hand is strongly shaking. This is used to hint that Hitler was suffering from Parkinson.

Well thank you for a great video. Sorry to seem picky on a well made documentary. I just wanted to point out that the western allies used methamphetamine in at least the same amount. Morell was an interesting and shadowy character who used substances that were not so known at the time, but to keep Hitler going until the bitter end.

Having both been in the military and lived next door to meth addicts, I can assure you that having soldiers tweaking out on crank may do a lot of things, but making said soldiers more effective is decidedly not on that list. It's just one of those ideas that I can't imagine anyone ever thought was good.
@PeopleProfiles
@PeopleProfiles 5 жыл бұрын
Meth was used to keep the soliders awake more than anything else, which meant that Germany's soldiers could go without rest for days. As the war went on the negatives of Meth usage were identified, but those with vested interests restisted any restrictions on their use.
@MrEvanfriend
@MrEvanfriend 5 жыл бұрын
@@PeopleProfiles Sure, keeping troops awake is always good. Tobacco and caffeine work fine for that, without the deleterious effects of meth. Those cranked up troops may be awake, but they're also going to be making bad decisions and behaving carelessly, among other problems. Quite frankly, I want to be nowhere near a guy with a bloodstream full of crystal and an MG34.

@MrEvanfriend
@MrEvanfriend 5 жыл бұрын
@@PeopleProfiles I think Stalin was an idiot too, for the most part. The best military decision he ever made was to remove Budyonny from a position where he could make important decisions, because Budyonny was a clown with more mustache than sense who thought that tanks were a passing trend that would never overtake horse cavalry. But he still kept Zhukov in power, and Zhukov is probably the most overrated general of WWII. Wearing the enemy down by continuing human wave attacks just because you have more people than they do may have worked in the end, but it wasn't exactly wise. The best Soviet general of the war was Rokossovskiy, who was in the GULAG at the start of the war for being Polish. And he was lucky, most of the good officers had been shot before the war started.

Why? It didn't cause the war. It did not cause the ideology. It did not cause the brutality on the Eastern Front or the implementing of the Final Solution, Lebensraum etc. All it did was make Adolf highly strung, emotional and potentially less effective, esp the last months of the war when there were signs that others picked up.. However the war was irrevocably lost well before any of that. There really is no evidence that things would've turned out any different.
