Good to see you are responsible travellers.... Sure, you may not have left your car in Germany but... "The UK is currently designated as a risk area, so travellers from the UK are only permitted to enter Germany if they are returning to their place of residence or if they serve in an important role or there is an urgent need for their travel" so the answer to someone's question earlier is no, you cannot legally enter Germany for this kind of travel.
