Aleister Crowley was an English occultist who lived from 1875 through 1947. Ozzy played heavy metal throughout his career. Heavy metal existed long before System of a Down. Love your channel and observing you reacting to unfamiliar music with an open mind.

Ozzy helped give birth to metal when he was in Sabbath, and made people fear it even more when he went solo. Metal was like satanic worship to people back then. They just didn’t understand it was another way of expressing music and was something they didn’t understand so they labeled it “demonic” and “aggressive.” While some metal can be like that, this is an example of its more beautiful side.

The bat biting thing began with a dove. At some record deal signing event, someone handed him a dove, with the idea that he'd release it as a symbol of peace (this was 1981 and we were all living under the very real thread of nuclear war). Ozzy was pretty drunk though, by this point, and just bit the head off and spat it at the journalists, with blood dripping down his chin. The bat came a year or so later, when someone threw one on stage at a gig. Ozzy picked up the stunned bat and bit its head off (he says he thought it was rubber), and the bat promptly bit him back and he had to be treated for possible rabies. It's hard not to love someone who was banned from San Antonio for 10 years, for pissing up the Alamo.

Ozzy & Black Sabbath started heavy metal rock - darker & heavier than psychedelic blues rock of Hendrix & Cream in the late 60's. Once Randy Rhoads came onboard in '79, his technical mastery from studying classical guitar launched modern metal - Randy referred to it as 'neoclassical metal' - giving metal a cleaner, much more technical style from what is was with Sabbath. Randy's influence to rock, and dedication to mastering his instrument made him a legend.

The studio version of this song is 10,000x better. This one has the weirdest, dragging feel to it. It’s great to see Randy Rhoads play, but the overall performance by everyone just isn’t same

I kinda dig it, and Randy absolutely killed it while also making it look effortless. THAT is when you know someone is a virtuoso.

You should react to Prince playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps. I think it was a perfomance introducing George Harrison to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame back in 2004. You will love it.

You reacted to Gary Moore a short while ago guys, and it was Gary who finally persuaded Randy to join Ozzy. Gary was Ozzy's first choice to join his new band, but Gary had already started his own solo career after leaving Colosseum II and Thin Lizzy, so Gary helped Ozzy find a new guitarist. Randy had already been offered the job by Ozzy, but it was Gary, after Randy asked for Gary's advice, who told him that if he joined Ozzy's band he would become recognized as the great guitar player he ALREADY was. How right was Gary, Randy was phenomenal. I'm pretty sure at some point Gary and Randy would have collaborated on a project at some point, after becoming friends. R.I.P. guys.

Wow guys, it's great that you're digging music history out, I just spent five hours going through your videos and reminiscing my young years!!! Still didn't see any Deep Purple (Smoke on the Water) to my surprise. Jethro Tull with Locomotive Breath is another suggestion. Keep it rolling, we love it👏🥰.

An Occult based song, and one reason he's the Prince of Darkness. The guitar is Randy Rhoades a guitar prodigy as you can hear, who died tragically in a car crash a year later.

This song is about Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), a British practitioner of black magic. Known as "The Wickedest Man Alive," Jimmy Page based some of the Led Zeppelin album covers on his work.

The bass player in red, Rudy Sarzo, was also in the band Quiet Riot 1977 before joining Ozzy's band 1981 and then later re-joined Quiet Riot 1983. Rudy's brother Robert Sarzo is a guitarist.

One of the coolest songs. This one is about a man named Aleister Crowley who was a mysticist back in the 60s. He thought he was an actual wizard.
