The song is about hip hop, guys. About how he has dedicated his life to hip-hop and literally given it “everything” he's got to the point where it adversely started affecting his personal life. Also, keep in mind that Eminem is really good at making doubles or triples, which means he could be talking about different things at once.

Nope, seems like the whole point went over your and many others head. It’s actually for both Hip-Hop and Kim. It’s a double story, just like his song ”Darkness”. Just connect these parts and try to see it. ”I don't think she understands the sacrifices that I've made” ”Faithful all the way, this is how I' get repaid? Look at how I dress, fuckin' baggy sweats, go to work a mess Always in a rush to get back to you, I ain't heard you yet Not even once say you appreciate me, I deserve respect I've done my best to give you nothin' less than perfectness”. He used to work his butt off to support his family still Kim decided to cheat. It’s a double message, my friend. I have been a fan for 19 years to understand his lyrics!

Eminem makes his rhymes very complex with the double meanings sometimes, and he’s always spitting stuff over peoples heads just because he’s so creative. I could listen to an Eminem song 1000 times, and the 1001 and I’ll still hear something new. However this one, is one of the few I never caught after being a Stan for almost 11 years now, I always thought it was about his ex but this definitely has a solid double meaning. Great catch guys. @elemaire862 жыл бұрын
He's ONlY talking about Hip-hop, though it's deliberately crafted that it can be interpreted AT FIRST as his ex wife or girlfriend but there were a few dead give-aways. When he said "jealous when I spend time with the girls", he means not only his daughter and niece but his wife too. He means his family. On my first listen I started to suspect it was a metaphor because even if their relationship was a little bit toxic, Kim didn't strike me as someone who'd be "jealous" that he's spending time with his kids. Then I said, "ok, maybe it's a girlfriend and not Kim" but I remember he said "go marry someone else and make em famous", so it elimated the possibility of being a girlfriend and brought me back to Kim which didn't make sense because of the previous bar. Also, Kim didn't make him famous, even if you want to stretch it, the idea by saying that she did metaphorically due the content Em has provided which includes Kim, it still wouldn't make sense because that line is used more where the public display of drama IS the reason why a celebrity is famous, which you'll see with more reality tv stars. And it couldn't be his mom Deb because of the "married" bar. No more than half way through the song, was like "Yo he's talking to the game". Also, the timeline matches because between Encore and Relapse Em was gone. He was battling his demons. Kanye and Wayne took over and the game had changed. This is him sitting back and saying, why should I come back to you. You're the reason why I'm going through all this shit and I can't even have a normal life with my "girls" without the world poking around asking "Where's Slim Shady" and saying "Em fell off.
@jaysea8382 жыл бұрын
I agree (To an extent) but would argue that it’s the listener making the connections / correlations to drugs / a girl as misdirection was never EM’s intent. He has even gone on record to state this track is solely about hip hop. We, as fans, are just so used to not taking things at face value when it comes to EM. If you didn’t know about Kim / drugs (or EMs abilities) this track would hit exactly as intended.

Even though this song was written about hip-hop this song saved my life no joke. I went through a very tough divorce where my girl left me. I ended up with insomnia and would stay up at night staring at the ceiling contemplating my suicide. I was at the end of my rope. When this record came out I listened to it here and there but really never gave it an in depth look. One night of sleeplessness and deep depression I put Recovery on and it stayed on for months straight. I listened to this song over and over and over again. I couldn’t get enough of it. I attribute a lot of getting out of that depression to this record and song especially. I started writing myself (very terrible at it) but it was cathartic.

Hey, hope you all get this, but I just gave you all a shout out on Kansas City, Missouris number one station. They were asking people to call in and talk about their favorite pod casts, I talked about yours. I love watching your content, keep it up.

He’s talking about his dedication to the game. The rap game. It’s a double. Makes you think it’s about Kim or someone. But all he time he’s rapping about his love for the rap game and how it’s messed him up and drained him. And he never gets the live he deserves

This song is about his Wife and Hip Hop. Em alot of times always gives multiple meanings.

When he did this song he had slowed down in the rap game but this is definitely one of the most double meaning songs on that album but he was definitely singing about the game and how it/persons treats him by not giving him the full respect he deserves
