@katmbbaker78043 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately even when you can watch the whole game on TV they still don't show the halftime show. There's a bunch of talking heads and in the background you see little tiny flashes of the marching band. It's always irritating but today with the 20 yr 9/11 anniversary it was down right disrespectful and unpatriotic since the show was a tribute of that day

So fantastic to see a TRADITIONAL marching band - no "front ensemble" playing mallets on the sidelines, no stationary props littering the field; just solid Big 10-style marching and great ensemble playing. New show every game with well-planned and executed formations. Congratulations!!

I mean, there is a decent difference between a Marching Band and a Drum & Bugle Corps, especially talking about DCI Style which is more or less a marching concert band.

I don't have a problem with marimba up front or that much front ensemble. I find it ridiculous when bands try time go Broadway. My daughters high school band has a tap dancer this year. Which is stupid in my opinion. I don't term this to my daughter. Maybe I'm ok with front ensemble bc that is what my daughter does in full disclosure.

@@petemann idk man honestly I've had ads on hulu that are interactive-ish, meaning you pick what you want the add to be about. If they can employ that technology and the consumer (us) can choose whether to watch the show or the regular ole halftime discussions, I feel like they'd make more money. Would be a marketing win.

Let's hear it for the Oregon special team players who came out early and spent 4 minutes on the sidelines watching a great halftime show -- not going on the field and warming up like other visiting teams have. Now if only the OSU cheerleaders and team can stay off the field until the band completely exits.
@John-zu2ff3 жыл бұрын
Funny you mention the Oregon players for end of halftime, since a small group of them walked right through the formation near the end of pregame. Hopefully someone went and told them afterwards that's a big no-no around here.

Too bad a handful of the OSU players can't show some respect for the message of this halftime show or their own band ... walk onto the field halfway through the show and stand there - bottom left on the 15-20 yard lines. Then start tossing the football near the band as it "unfurls" its final piece - the US flag. Not classy, guys.

The show is well done but it doesn't really have an honoring 9/11 theme to me.... No mention of the Law enforcement, firefighters, or EMS personnel killed. This really seems more like a veterans day type half time show to me. Love the band but feel like this could have maybe have been done differently.
@christinacope5623 жыл бұрын
Ohio against the World, SMDH. There could've been something pre-game. Networks don't let us see any of that or the halftime. I don't need talking heads to tell me what I just watched plus their opinion on everything, same talk all day long. I'm thankful the band uploads to KZbin to watch.
@katmbbaker78043 жыл бұрын
Respectfully, they only have so much time allotted for halftime, I imagine they debated for a long time on what they could actually include within that window of time. It would have been nice if they could have extended the time allotted for just this one game but unfortunately the world doesn't usually work that way.
@mufd13563 жыл бұрын
I’d have to agree with you no one ever recognizes the firefighter police or EMS unless it’s something that is done by them no I’m not saying this just because I’m a firefighter and emt but because the men and women who risk their lives every day on the home front are never recognized just the ones who go away from home not the ones who show up when you need help at your home or in your every day life
@katmbbaker78043 жыл бұрын
@@mufd1356 I can't talk about other people, I can just say that I'm grateful everyday for ALL first responders. I personally have called for help many times. At different times my family has needed Police, EMT/Paramedics, Firefighters, Doctors/Nurses. Every time there is a story on the news I thank God there is someone there to answer the call. I come from a military family (Father, 2 Brothers, 3 Uncles and 2 Grandfathers) so understand well and appreciate them all.
