Holy Moly Iris Agate Sweet Rock Heaven! I believe the gods have answered your iris addiction and satisfied your craving for them momentarily. If you know agates, you know what a treasure you revealed in cutting that one, so rare to see the iris like that! Theo you have the best eye for knowing how to cut an agate and reveal the iris if it is there to be seen!

OK, you've inspired me. Even though I am now living off the grid and my only source of power is my generator, I am totally making it a priority to get my rock saw up and running this summer. It is brand new, and I have had it for years but have never run it. My biggest problem has been finding out what coolant at an affordable price to use for running it. Cutting the rocks is like opening a treasure chest every single cut, and I can't wait to dive into my treasure trove of rocks collected over the years. Thank you for the inspiration.

The iris was oh wow eye popping. And as to the quarts being present along with the iris. Just conjecture but maybe its the refractive properties of the quarts mixed with the agate that causes the rainbow. Quarts does have some amazing properties on its own. And besides how can you go wrong with the pretty little cut crystals that are in quarts pockets and the beautiful cross sections of them and the agate are truly beauty to wonder over. Thanks for taking the time to do the video sir. 😀

I hope you read this because I have an idea of what to do with those slabs of iris agates. You could make suncatchers, agate stained glass pictures, and maybe wind chimes. Maybe a kaleidoscope. You are very talented keep showing us your art.

Nice. This video makes me excited and sad at the same time. Excited to cut so many that I have and sad I I don’t have a nice auto feed slab saw to cut even and thin slabs. I will have to wait.
@Charley_Buehner Жыл бұрын
So, for those super-thin iris slabs, how do you typically polish them? One-by-one by hand on the flat-lap? Or do you trust 'em in the vibratory and/or rotaries?
@leslyeschoenhuth1107 Жыл бұрын
LOL ~ Find someone who can read Asian Languages & ask them if the Slab at the 8:20 mark says anything.. It really does look like Character writing in it.. BEAUTIFUL Slabs. Thanks Kim! Those are Lovely..

Theo, this might sound crazy but with the rock at 9:40, would casting it in clear resin and then cutting it keep it from falling apart? I know absolutely nothing about cutting rocks but was trying to think of a way to stabilize it while you cut it.
