While I agree with much of the talk, I am somewhat worried that other Theological divisions (like the Assumption of Mary, Sacred Heart etc.) will prevent the Eastern Churches completely submitting to the Roman Pontiff. The Papacy is what holds the Church together and it is what makes us Catholic, without it this would not be the One True Church that there is no salvation outside of.

Theologica Rex // As a future Eastern Catholic (not originally coming from a Catholic background at all), I believe in Purgatory, the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Assumption, the Infallibility of the Roman Pontiff speaking ex cathedra. And I believe in the teachings of the Papal Encyclical Humani Generis, and all the others-even those which many Latin Catholics choose not to believe or of which they are ignorant. (These things are why I am becoming Eastern Catholic, and not Eastern Orthodox-though I hold to Eastern Orthodox positions on things which do not conflict with that of the dogmatic teachings of the Holy Catholic Church, in as much as is required and in the things that are not required, feel is right.) And I believe that the Pope should canonize Palamas and many other Eastern Saints 😄 For such will be a massive way of showing the Catholic Church's Catholicity. There have been many historical Saints recognized in the Catholic Church presently who held to positions that would later be overridden by future ex cathedra decisions by the Pope of Rome, and those ignorant by distance and culture are surely not much more at fault for their ignorance than those separated by time... My anticipation is there. I look forward to seeing what God has for us all in the future. The West will come to embrace good Eastern contributions to Theology, and the East will come to embrace good Western contributions to Theology-the whole of the Catholic Church increasing in unity of mind while maintaining their distinctiveness. Unity is not uniformity, but a massive part of unity is agreement. 1 Corin. 1:10 Complementary, not contradicting.

Just one example of a saint whose position has been overridden by an ex cathedra declaration is St Thomas Aquinas, who did not believe the Immaculate Conception made sense.

Theologica Rex I think it is worth saying that what you see as Theological Divisions are recognized, by the Papal Office, and have been for hundreds of years, as a different expression of the same truth. The Eastern Communions completely submit to the Roman Pontiff, and always will. When we first came back into communion (Byzantine Catholic btw), the Pope at that time, in his wisdom, allowed for us to profess our faith as we always had. He recognized that these expressions were simply two sides of the same coin. I hope you should recognize the same.
