"because what that implies is that you are being intentional with your dating life, with your own discernment of your vocation. " Me, a single Pringle who's not ready to get into a relationship at all just wanting to know the difference. 👁👄👁

Thank you Elizabeth. Now, I have a clearer idea. All it takes was for the Church to give practical guidelines.

Wow great insight. Yes I agree Chastity is very important and self control on your emotions to discernment to a married life,if not you'll miss the craving of romantic love and end up being a layover mentally unfocused. Above all Youths should know marriage is Sacificial Love, mutual respect, commitment, responsibility and above all a sacrament to begin a life of a Holy Family. We are also to remind our youths the gravity of any indulgence in flesh desires ibefore marriage is a mortal sin as this main issue is sidelined in many of the talks and preaching.

Why does most (not to say all) advice about dating is targeted to couples? What about single Catholics that want to not be anymore? How to relate to the opposite sex in a loving way so that it is possible to move to the dating phase that is explained in this video?

It hasn’t. Courting is an individual decision.

Dating serves the purpose of training us in the art of discernment. Similarly, pre-marital sex can be a path to learning the value of chastity. The best path? Probably not? A sinful path? Certainly. But some of our greatest saints came to grace through the repentence of sin, and our obsession with chastity probably limits the development of discernment among hormonally driven youth.

The "discerning the vocation of marriage" being promoted in this video is certainly not "promoting holy marriages" since we all know the Catholic marriage rate is very very close to zero, as people continue to leave the Church, might marry outside the Church, but never return. This CANNOT POSSIBLY BE what God wants. I will stop there because if I say any more, something causes the comment to disappear and nobody else can see it.

"Discerning the vocation of marriage." "Courting." When did the Church start propagating this silliness? Obviously it isn't "promoting holy marriages" since we all know the Catholic marriage rate is very very close to zero, as people continue to leave the Church, might marry outside the Church, but never return. This CANNOT POSSIBLY BE what God wants.

@Alex Irrelevant in your opinion, yet you chose to reply anyway. How very curious. The church is failing singles of all ages by no longer providing the social opportunities where our parents and grandparents met and learned how to interact socially. Instead, you now have this "discerment of vocation" nonsense demanding that you first decide that you want to be married, way before you even know of any possible spouses to date (or "court", if you must). It makes no sense at all.

@@larrymelman Sorry Larry ,but I don't think were going back to 1955. The social norms have changed more women are graduating college then men now days.
@larrymelman3 жыл бұрын
@@sitka49 Boy are you ever right about that. This isn't 1955. Men AND women go to college and then often grad school and by their late 20's they have settled in a new home town with a new job. And if they grew up Catholic and by some miracle still are, then what? How are they supposed to meet the other single Catholics in their new home town, when parishes no longer have the social life that used to be such a big help with that? The marriage rate is pretty much zero in the Church nowadays, we all know that. Can anything be done to change this? Because parishes still have single men and single women that might be interested in dating and Catholic marriage, but they have no way to meet.
@sitka493 жыл бұрын
@@larrymelman I think partly, Would there be enough participation for single programs if we're still available? Maybe it's the reason they no longer are?
@larrymelman3 жыл бұрын
@@sitka49 Most parishes never had "singles programs" or "singles ministry". They had events and activities for the entire parish, which singles could take part in and become part of the community. Currently, the parishes in my area have a few seniors groups that meet during the week, and call that the "social life". So anyone that isn't a senior, or that has a job, is reduced to just attending mass and nothing else.
