Divorce doesn't mean you can't spend holidays together as friends. Set aside some time, a few hours, that your children can have both parents together. Even if it's just a quick meal and opening up presents. You two can create new traditions as friends. It may not be what they want but at least they have both parents together for a few hours. Life is short, these little things that you do for your kids will be something they never forget. The love you both have for your children is undeniable and beautiful. Regardless of what happens, I do know you both have their best interests at heart. Much love.

I agree. If me and my future significant other split up I would be sure to have them over or me be there when its time for the kids to wakeup. They said they're still friends so I think it wouldn't be a problem. Just gotta make things work when you have kids.

I've never been through a divorce but I was thinking what I would do if I was in their shoes. I'd do whatever it took to make sure the children were adjusting well. After always seeing their parents together for the holidays, it's got to be hard for them to not have that. Imagine the smiles they'd have on that special day with both parents together for Christmas. Even just for a few hours. It will be something they never forget. Going forward, they will always remember what their parents did. It may not be the perfect solution but seeing your kids smile.... That's worth any awkwardness that might be there.

I divorced after 16 years. The kids actually took it very well and thrived due to it. It was better for them to be out of the toxicity and in a very healthy environment. I mean there’s details involved but it’s SO much better now. Took about 6 mos to truly adjust. Just have faith, be positive. Be happy. He married fairly quickly after and alienated the kids quite a bit. I’ve not even dated. My kids come first. If I do date, my kids won’t be involved for a long time. Me dating is something I will do for me. Not for the kids. Be strong Omar. Alrighty. Story over.

During an emotionally turmoil time in your life, the last thing you or Melissa need to do is defend your decisions. I can honestly say that cheating would never, in my mind, be the cause for your seperation and anyone who watches your video's would have the same conclusion. My only advice is to not move on too quickly. There will be times when you'll be fine and other moments when you can't breath. Moving on too fast, just so you're not alone, is ill advised. The wounds need to heal first if you want anything to last. Beyond that, be careful who you pick, you're an amazing man full of generosity, kindness and life, seeing the best in others, and too many women will take advantage of not only who you are but all you have to offer. I remember a time when you repeatedly told us Melissa was your best friend, despite everything, she still is and that's apart of why this hurts so much. I'm 35, I've never been married but I've been engaged and after 6 yrs, he left while I was pregnant to be with someone else he met in a bar. I know pain, not that 6 yrs compares to what you're losing, but pain is pain and my pain caused me to miscarry 4.5 months in. There's far more to my story as there is to yours but know if you ever need to talk, we're all here for you, I'm here for you. I hope you had the best Christmas you could of had and your beautiful children will be in my prayers.

Omar I know your pain I was divorced about a year ago and it's really tough I don't have any children though but we did have pets which was difficult. I still love my x and wish it had never came down to this I was always loyal and faithful and never cheated on her as well. You and your children are in my prayers! It was very hard on me when my parents got divorced and I was 26. It is hard to see everything you ever knew come undone and then see your parents with new people. I of course love my new step parents but it took time for me to adjust as it will for your kiddos. Holidays are the hardest because of the running to two seperate places, but you learn to get by. My heart aches for you all because I understand from a kid's perspective and as an adult I also view marriage as sacred. I watch my brother and how he talks about his daughters mother in front of her and same for her mother dissing my brother, it’s FUGLY and ridiculous that two adults couldn’t keep their thoughts to themselves and couldn’t behave like mature adults and it absolutely affected my niece severely going through having to pick sides constantly and being dragged through it. Anyone who behaves like that should give their children up. It’s painful for them and it’s damaging to their self esteem. It stays with them for life and the parents spend that time trying to fix it to no avail. Please think twice before ever doing this in front of your kids, no matter how much you dislike the other parent. The child doesn’t get to choose their parents.

Omar I'm proud of you on how you spoke up about y'all's divorce and proud of how both of y'all as parents handling it and choose positive communication and stability for y'all's children. I wish it was like that with my children's dad and me, and even my husband now wants that too. We've tried to, but the woman that he finally married has some personal vendetta against me. Highly jealous, envious, trys to control every situation or event that involves the kids, mouth overrides everything, instigates problems, has friends of her and herself harass me even at work and it's doesn't matter if I change jobs she tracts me down. Personally I think she has some nuts and bolts loose especially when making comments as introducing the kids as my ex and her babies they had together. Yeah kids was floored by that and not too happy. In fact they are not too happy with her period because how she treats them and purposely alienate them from their dad when they come to visit him and feel they can't even trust to text him because they know she will grab his phone and respond for him. It's really sad situation for our kids and makes it all around difficult to coparent with these ongoing problems. Kutos to Melissa and you figuring out a better way to coparent.💖

It does get better, I promise, I got divorced 7 years ago after being married for 23 years and it was difficult at first but my two girls and I are doing great and you will too. The thing is we don't know everything about their life and we can't place judgment on anyone. I went through a divorce and I was a stay @ home was I judged, but the thing was I done everything for my children. My ex may have brought home the bacon but when it came to most everything else I did it. I even started my own business, but no matter what I did was not good enough. Sorry for rambling on.

Finally someone else seen it. I made a similar comment. I would watch seeing her pull him down constantly and think why is she doing that. He seemed to do everything and he has been trying to do everything to provide for them. I go through the stresses of being a single parent and I work my butt off to get a good life for my daughter (which Im still trying to do) Im a professional singer, gamer, mother and manage myself and do everything myself with no help from family or friends. Divorce or breakups or anything in life is tough, but TIME will always help. It may never stop hurting or get “easy” but it will become easier to deal with and understand xx Both my parents have divorced and re married and then divorced and remarried again, so I know what it’s like as the child between it! Fortunately my father and mother get along and are happy in their new relationships. I’m not a religious guy so can’t pray for you guys, but just know from my experiences TIME heals. All the best to you and the kids. I can understand and relate to what your daughter is going through. Wish I could give her a big hug! Just be there as much as possible, both of you. And maybe even offer counseling, my parents did for me. It could help for her to talk to someone outside the family. It's hard when you think your parents will be together forever. And its hard if you carry guilt if you think you were the reason for the split. So just love her more and be there for her more and spend more time with her. And that's not just you but Melissa too. Girls are more sensitive while most boys are more strong and accept it with no qualms. Maybe talk to their friends or girlfriend but not mom or dad. Best of luck to you and the kids. Merry Christmas Omar and kids, life always changes just because you are getting a divorce makes no difference, you both just fell out of love with each other but you love the person in a different way you love Malissa as the kids mother and Melissa will be the same she will love you as the kids father you guys are just not in love with each other which is fine. Oh Omar. I'm so very sorry to hear about you and Melissa. This... this is proof how we, your fams, don't know what your life is really like. I always assumed you two had a near perfect marriage. I loved videos of you and Melissa together. But people grow apart. And it's great to hear that you and Melissa are thinking of the children first as you make this life changing decision. I grew up in a broken home. I mean a really broken home. My dad took me to another state when I was about five years old and I only saw my mother twice in nearly 50 years. My father would say how much he hated my mother and all kinds of bad things about her and then would say that I was just like her. You can't imagine the psychological problems I still suffer from because of his actions. Just don't ever do that to your children. Keep the peace between you and Melissa as much as possible for their sake. God bless you and Melissa as you both enter new phases of your life. I pray that God brings you someone who understands and accepts you wholly for who you are. God be with you and all of your family in the coming year and always.
